The "Butterfish" is just fantastic, albeit a little expensive. Service was good and we had an enjoyable dinner.

Sad that they have a limited menu on Saturdays for lunch because they consider it brunch. Not a lot to choose from.

We were seated in the wrong table that we asked for, The hostess corrected the error and relocated us to the proper area. We received the “Price Fix Menu”, to our surprise and were told that the regular menu was not available due to the over booking for the New Year’s Eve Reservations. The limited selection was up charged to say the least!
The Dynamite Scallops were a sham, needing a magnifying glass to see the scallop on two large shells. The Buratti cheese and heirloom tomato salad was production line massacre, a quick dab of cheese and tomatoes in a less than appetizer portion. The lobster bisque soup was luke warm and the Pork Wonton Soup was over salted and wonton’s chewy.

The butterfish entrée which we have enjoyed in the past was undercooked and fishy in taste. The Osso Buco was stringy and under seasoned, very bland.
Clearly my observations of servers (or lack of) were overworked and rushing to provide service to the large bookings, and the kitchen staff working in a high pressure production line atmosphere to keep up. Clearly this was structured to increase occupancy and provide substandard food that was overpriced and a diversion from the core competency and menu that Roy’s is known for.
Fortunately, we had a backup reservation for L G’s Steak House at 9:30 PM, to meet up with friends. This non franchised venue served their core menu, without over booking or pricing their food. (For example I did not have to pay $129.00 for a tomahawk ribeye that Roy’s pushed).
The disappointing experience that you created for an end of year push on profits has changed my view on selecting a dinner reservation in the area and will consider the other non-franchised restaurants that in the past put their quality and service first for their customers than overbooking and overpricing for a holiday dinner.

What a great place to take kids! Roy's continues to impress with the kids. I'm never too excited by set menus on the holidays (we dined on New Years Eve), but there were solid choices and the food was prepared well. Not as good as a non-holiday night, but still good. Overall, we had a great dinner with great service with a 4 and 7 year old in tow. I can't ask for anything more.

We ate New Years Eve dinner at Roy’s. It was a special menu for the holiday, but choices were adequate. All dinners included a choice of appetizer, soup/salad, main and dessert. Overall the evening was splendid. I thought the prices were quite high, but the quality of the food and the exquisite service explain the cost.

If I had one issue that night it was related to noise. We ate early. There is an open kitchen. Even though we asked to be seated as far as possible from the action, a manager stood in the kitchen area with all the wait staff and described all of the menu items. He was shouting quite loudly for about 15 minutes and in fact I never needed to look at the menu since I heard all of it from across the dining room. Perhaps it’s just my opinion, but in a fine dining establishment, I feel this type of activity should take before quests are seated, or should be done in a separate room.

The restaurant was a surprise to us. Wasn't sure what expect but it exceeded our expectations and then some. Started with our valet parking. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. And then when we left our car was waiting curbside for us. Service was excellent. The waiter was knowlegable and made some excellent suggestions. Would highly recommend this outstanding restaurant.

This is the best Roy’s location for good food. However, as with others Roy’s the restaurant is noisy. Not sure why but it detracts from the dining experience compared to other restaurants in the area such as Wally’s Desert Turtle Inn or Mastro’s.

We were disappointed in Roy's. The food was no better than average. I had a mixed appetizer plate and I considered only the Korean ribs good. My husband had the short ribs and thought that it was just OK, nothing special. For the price, not worth it.

Had a reservation, got sat immediately but waited 7 minutes to actually be greeted. We were sat at a table in the corner, dirty table cloth and no candle, and table was set for three (only two of us were dining) and they didn’t take the third setting away until I finally had to ask, also had to ask for a candle... I ended up putting my napkin over the black stain on the table cloth.

Lobster potstickers were cold, seafood trio was LACKING. For $50 I received ONE tiny scallop, three shrimp that looked like they had come out of a freezer and a small lobster tail that tasted old.

The service, eh, I would have rather ordered from a drive thru window for the experience I received from Stephanie. She was knowledgeable on the evening specials, but unfortunately lacking what a server should “bring to the table” especially at a restaurant like this.

Food - horrible
Service - better than the food
Ambiance - the WORST

Point being, do not come here.

Roys is always a great choice. This visit however was not one of our best visits. The waiter seemed to be pre-occupied with other tables, was late to take our order, seemed to cater to those tables that were offering a greater tip potential. Dinner for 5 took 2.5 hours...kind of ruined it for us.

Excellent service, excellent choices on the menu, my 10 year old son had 3 various sushi rolls that were prepared well and tasted really good according to him. I had a filet that cut like butter and tasted good and my wife had a piece of fish that she said was moist and extremely good.

I was in town from Connecticut with a friend of lives locally and he is a frequent consumer here and despite two reservations specifically requesting a booth is available and the manager was less than accommodating it was very disappointing from a customer service perspective I think if a regular client is here all the time spending a lot of money they should be accommodating those folks and honoring reservation requests like you both otherwise food was great

Roy's is usually a highlight when we are visiting the Coachella Valley. And we had enjoyed dinners there twice in the previous month, however, this visit was not good. The food was as dependably good as usual, but the restaurant was very busy and we were seated in a table leading into a section with all traffic going past us and a children's birthday party next to us. As a result one of our guests was continually bumped by servers and other diners going past. This was worsened due to people having to avoid the children that had climbed down from their seats and blocked the aisles for the people trying to get by. Be advised to request a booth outside of the main traffic flow. And in future, the restaurant may want to put large groups, especially with children, away from the main traffic aisles and other diners.

We had not been to Roy's for a number of years, but decided to give it another try. We found only one or two items on the menu that were appealing to us. The food was good but not great, but the service was very good as we met a server we had known in another restaurant several years ago.

We are unlikely to go back to Roy's again.

I thought the service was quite good. We were dining using a Groupon but were treated like any non-Groupon diner.

First time using Groupon at Roy's. Their offer was a three-course prix fixe dinner, with dessert.

When using Groupon: let your host / hostess know as soon as you walk in that you are using it. They will then know which menu to hand to you.

It helped that we dined early (6:00 p.m.) and it was a Sunday night. Not an overflow crowd.

There are five or six entree choices on the Groupon VIP Partners menu. I had the whitefish, which was very good. My partner had broiled chicken, also good. We shared a choice of two appetizers (spring rolls or makisushi); the sushi felt rather soggy and fell apart once it hit the sauce. Should have gone with the spring rolls. For dessert, we shared a fruit tart, also good.

The server will remind you, as a Groupon user, about the value of the Groupon in order to factor that cost into the overall tip (drinks and taxes are extra).

Was not used to the complementary valet parking, but it worked well. I don't know if there's a self-park option.

One of my better meals at a Roy's. Would certainly return to this one.
