I had the seafood sampler. It was very good but a little pricey. My dining companion had the colossal shrimp. I think you only get three. Little pricey for three big shrimp.
But overall a very nice meal.
Hadn’t eaten at Roy’s. For quite a few years after a few poor meals and inattentive service but my sister wanted to celebrate her birthday here!
Glad we gave it a second chance — one of our most memorable meals! Our waiter “DaDavid” was instrumental in making the occasion very special! The new Korean tasting menu was amazing as was my favorite Roy’s fish trio ! Chocolate Molten Lava cake and Key Lime Pies for desert cannot bike topped!
Food is overrated for the price. It’s just ok... nothing really special.
Roy's is one of my favorite places to go in any city that I visit. Rancho Mirage location is always one of my favorite locations as the service and food is always top notch. Will return there again, soon. I also get a number of coupons and discounts that really make the cost more affordable. Great place for a nice dinner or Sunday brunch.
Everything was over cooked. Shrimp was dry and udon noodles over salted. Drinks were the only good part of the meal.
The service was excellent. It was our anniversary and they gave us a free desert. The appetizer was good but both of the entree’s were fair at best. My wife ordered the jumbo prawns. They were over cooked and tough and the soba noodles were also overdone. I ordered the scallops. They were just ok, but they were served on a soupy bed of black rice that was very unappealing. We won’t be going back.
It was my birthday dinner. Spectacular, succulent and sweet seared scallops in butter. The greens and tiny cherry tomatoes along with coconut black rice make my mouth weep with joy. The lovely birthday card at my table made me feel par to Roy’s Ohana. Service was efficient, quiet, and impeccable. Perfect.
Made my reservation on Open Table. Dinner plans were for my birthday so it was an extra special dinner for me. They make a cute card to welcome the birthday person. Ordered their amazing TIki punch!!! Yummy!!! We
Had the rib appetizer and for dinner the shellfish trip followed by the upside down pineapple cake. Service by Christine was perfect. Really a very nice dinner. Roy’s never disappoints!!!
Excellent service from David.
We eat at Roy’s about once per year. Food and service are fantastic. It’s a bit pricey and I would have liked to have a couple more scallops with my order (only 4), but really can’t complain about anything else. The service is always beyond reproach.
David was the best server. He was funny, kind and accommodating. We will go back just to see him.
This was in the Rancho Mirage Roy’s. Thank you, Judy Estey
I have been to several Roy’s and this one is by far my favorite one! From the moment we walked in the door with the warm and gracious greeting to the food and service.
By far the best happy hour!!
Our dinner to celebrate my birthday was outstanding. As always, the hostesses made us feel special! Not many places take the time to do that! But Roys does. Our server David made sure everything was prepared and served in Tip-top order! We both enjoyed Hawaiian fish, always prepared beautifully! The Crunchy spicy tuna roll as an appetizer was sooooo good! And then there was the amazing chocolate dessert!
Thank you, David, for making our evening very very special! Judy and Bill
I have enjoyed this restaurant for a few years - even taken cooking lesson (more observations). I had the macadamia mahi mahi - plus a tempura shrimp appetizer - and the young coconut cheesecake - of the three - the appetizer was the best. The mahi mahi was too salty although not bad enough to return and the cheesecake, sounding considerably more attractive than the product. We like this place so will likely come again - but will always hope for just a bit better than normal expectations. Mai Tais provided nice buffering for this review.
Upon arriving with a reservation the hostess made us wait 10 minutes before we were escorted to a table. We asked to be seated at a booth instead of a table as there were plenty of them open. She told us that they are generally special request and only grudgingly sat us at one after I pointed that it was very early and likely wouldn’t cause a problem. Our server Amy was very efficient and friendly. Our drinks and appetizers were quite good. I ordered the short rib and butter fish entree. It arrived well presented, and I was looking forward to eating it with “relish”. One bite of the fish, which was coated with oriental style sauce, and I had to stop. The fish was clearly off and I could eat no more. I pushed the plate aside as I fought waves of nausea, fearing that I would have to make a dash for the bathroom. The table attendant took the plate away and told me he would send the manager over. Amy ran to the bar to get me some soda with bitters which helped immensely. The manager never stopped at our table, but did stop at a nearby table to address someone else’s cocktail complaint, my partner overhearing that was because there wasn’t enough carbonation in the soda. I am not a restaurant manager, but I would think that a patron almost becoming ill at one of your tables because of food you served to him would take some priority.
In short, what was planned as an enjoyable evening, turned into bitter disappointment. We will never return to this or any Roy’s.
They really cater to the children.
Great food. Wonderful flavors.loved the spring rolls and the ribs. Attentive service from server Karen. Thank you for an enjoyable dining experience.
Would of had more drinks had the waiters stoped by more.
Another delicious dinner at Roy’s. They were very busy and Moses, the host, was amazing he helped serve, take orders and generally kept everyone happy. One of our favorite restaurants.
We have visited Roy's Rancho Mirage several times, and had good meals. However, on our last visit (7/29), it was like we got the Hells Kitchen rejects, as we received some of the worst food ever. I ordered the Hamachi Tataki...The fish which is normally seared and then chilled, was delivered at slightly room temperature (actually somewhat higher), providing a taste and texture that felt like something that would have been served on "Survivor" as punishment. Wife had the Macadamia Nut Crusted MahiMahi - The fish was a fiet that had strong fishiness. All in all, an unforgettable meal (in the wrong way)
Absolutely the best restaurant in town for great food and amazing specials. The service is beyond what you would expect. Can’t wait to come back again ❤️
The food was delectable )as always) and the service was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! We will definitely be back again soon!
Had their special Korean Galbi plate. Let me preface by saying that I have always rated this restaurant 5 stars on every visit. However, I was disappointed with my meal. It must’ve been their version of Korean Galbi. This doesn’t mean I will stop going there. It was just a Roy’s hiccup.
We always have a great meal and alway request David as our waiter. He is the best!
Outstanding food and service! A very Happy Birthday was had and Roy's played a major role in the happy celebration. Definitely will be back!
This was the most disappointing meal we have experienced in recent months. We ordered a swordfish dinner and a dinner with four kinds of fish. All were very over cooked and over seasoned. You could hardly tell one kind of fish from another. The service was just satisfactory. We ordered pineapple/coconut ice cream for dessert and got vanilla. With prices this high, the dinner needs to be something special and this was definitely not special in any way. The guy who parked our car was the friendliest person we encountered. We don't plan to return.
Food is good. Portions are small. Generally overpriced. Long intervals between visits because always felt they are rushing you out so can use table again.
We celebrated our 45th Wedding Anniversary!
The fantastic food and drinks can only be paired with Roy’s outstanding service. Our waiter David Luis provided a wonderful floor show that keep us laughing, while demonstrating a total mastery of the menu while insuring a delicious meal. We have been to this Roy’s on many occasions and each visit proves the experience exceeds any expectations we might have!
Definitely enjoyed our entire meal including service, ambiance and meal with the exception of the usual complimentary edamame!
We have always enjoyed our evening experience at Roy’s, here in the desert as well as the Islands.
It was our 48th wedding anniversary. We had an excellent server, Amy. She was terrific, as was the evening. Our food was, of course, absolutely delicious.
Food and service are good, a nice evening out. The specials are especially tasty.
We were there celebrating a birthday. The food was delicious, as always and the service very efficient and friendly.
Lucky us.....we had to cancel our dinner on Sunday because of a darned summer cold, but we rebooked for Monday. Good thing!!! We were able to take advantage of their $39.99 dinner.....anything on the menu except sushi. 3 courses. AND to make it even better our waiter was David...he was great as usual. All our food was excellent, not something that always happens at a Roy's. Rancho Mirage Roy's did not disappoint. Go and enjoy!
We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Roy's. This was our first visit, and all was in perfect order from friendly, efficient staff to excellent foods and presentation. We would definitely recommend Roy's for any occasion.
We have been eating at Roy’s consistently for years. The food is always on point. The chefs are amazing at what they do and the entire staff is very professional, courteous and go above and beyond to always take care of us.
sushi rolls were just average. the 4 seafood variety plate was excellent.
Service sucked. Food sucked. Noise level was extremely high with little children screaming and playing in the aisle.
