We've been to many Roy's locations across the country and the Plano location is just as good as the rest of them. We split the Canoe for 2 appetizers - the ribs are the star of that. We both had the Misoyaki Butterfish, which is our favorite entree. The Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle is always delicious. We enjoyed our cocktails (I love the 1988!) and wine as well. The service was excellent and we can always hear our own conversation at Roy's (no loud music blaring). It was a great meal!

The noise level was high due to Mother’s Day.
While the restaurant was crowded, the service and food was outstanding!

My first experience at Roy's was when my wife and I were in Hawaii. This was a much different experience. We went to Roy's for Mother's Day dinner. The food portions were so small and the menu was limited because of the holiday. The food was just so so.

Over an hour late getting us seated for our reservation, it was Mother’s Day, fixed menu. It was as if it was a surprise that people turned up. We needed up taking 2:30 m for a simple fixed menu meal. When asked, they couldn’t even give us some bread to tide us over through the huge delay. The main meal was just above cold, served on hot plates, consequently dried out really quickly. He food quality was not what we used to get a few years back. No one told the chef that custard should be set. So disappointing.

Selected Roy's for a joint Mother's day meal for my wife and mother-in-law. I knew it would be an excellent experience based on past visits to this location and others. We were seated promptly upon arrival thanks to having our OpenTable reservation. Wait staff was very attentive, provided nice recommendations and even offered to alter a menu item to meet our needs. Food presentation was outstanding, temperature / taste was excellent as was the service.

The staff was all over helping us celebrate our anniversary from being greeted recognizing our anniversary, a card and flowers on the table, to dessert and bubbly with their complements. Thank you Roy’s for a nice evening out of town on our anniversary!

Roy's is a fabulous restaurant with a large selection of creative fresh fish dishes and cocktails. The manger Bill Roberts runs an efficient operation that results in high quality service and great tasting food. I recommend any of the cocktails along with the sushi rolls and seafood sampler. In addition, try the chocolate cake. It's delectable. My team and I will visit again in June upon our return to Plano.

The food was fine, but not great for the price. The server was a bit too chipper. We probably wouldn’t go back there.

it was our first visit for my wife and I and we fell in love with this place. we went for our anniversary and they set up a table with our name on a personalize card on the table plus 2 glasses of champagne. that is attention to detail. the server Paul was really knowledgeable of the menu and really friendly, however he could have recommended some wine with food. place is really quite great for romantic night. food was out of this world. my wife had the opa and I had the short rib with the butterfish. WOW, food was amazing. overall the place is so good we are definitely coming back.

Based on my experience with the appetizer, entree, and dessert I had, the food was decent. It wasn't bad, but it seemed right on par with a red lobster or any other lower end chain seafood restaurant. However, to justify $170 after tip for an appetizer, two entrees, one dessert, and one drink, everything should be better than decent. The server I had was good when he was there, but he would disappear for at least 30 minutes at a time, hence only the one drink. On a positive note, the atmosphere was very.

WE have visited Roy's on many occasions, however, the service on this particular night was not good. We waited 10-15 minutes without having anyone acknowledge us. We flagged down a hostess to send a server over. It was "wine down Wednesday", 1/2 price on select wines. Our server didn't give us the discount and then never returned after leaving the check. The food was excellent though. Perhaps it was an "off" night; although it was not busy at all.

Very cozy and romantic environment. I made reservations with Open Table and noted that it was for a birthday. They had a table waiting for us with a birthday card. They later took a photo and included it in there. Also they gave us free dessert for the occasion. We shared a sushi roll and the filet and lobster tail. It was very tasty. Next time we want to try their fish entree.

Wait staff had big party table, so we have to wait for the service. Dinner took longer than we expected. The $39 opah fish needed more seasoning. The $47 steak was ok not as good as a steak house next door. The $14 Sichuanese short rib & the $10 crab fried rice were the best. The $13 chocolate soufflé was our favorite of all, but the size is quite small compare to Lawry’s. It was not our best Friday night dinner experience we had. I do like the reservation option available via Open Table though. Ambiance is nice & staff are friendly.

We haven’t been here in a while and decided to celebrate birthdays here tonight. What an amazing dinner!! Food was perfect. Drinks were excellent and desserts were crazy good! Our waiter, Bradford, really made our evening perfect. Make sure you try the Ahi tuna dinner and the chocolate soufflé or pineapple upside down cake for dessert. You won’t regret an evening here. Thank you Roy’s!!!

P.S. we’ll be back soon!

Went for Easter Brunch with family including three small kids. Service was impeccable as always. Our waitress was very nice and very helpful. Food was perfectly cooked and delicious! I ordered the filet mignon and it was divine! The rest of our party enjoyed their meals as well. Don't miss out on dessert! The lava cake was my favorite and the pineapple upside down cake was my husbands! I would Highly recommend Roys !

Good food and good service. Why the negative overall review?? You spend 140 dollars for dinner and go home hungry. That’s why. We are not huge eaters btw. Even an average size portion would suffice. These portions were just laughable. It was Saturday night at 7pm and there was plenty of room for other guests. My guess is because others have figured out this is not the place to go if your hungry. The staff was very nice and again, award winning food, but even the nicer steakhouses in dallas offer bigger portions for less money. Let me also point out that my plate was a seafood plate. Not USDA prime beef or anything. But it was on the higher end of the pricing on the menu and I expected to get full especially after ordering appetizers. If you want to spend a bunch of money to try some unique seafood dishes and go home hungry, go to Roy’s. If you want to eat well, go just about anywhere else in dallas with a 31-50 plate meal and you will be happier. In my opinion this place would be much more successful, and I would give it higher ratings, if it were a 15-20 per plate restaurant. They would have a higher volume of customers and I’m sure make up for the lower pricing with the volume. First time patrons who expect a good meal for the steakhouse going rate will always be disappointed and with the amount of options in dallas for fine dining at that price it makes no sense to come back here ever again.

My wife and I sat on the patio on a Saturday night [granted it was early (5:45pm)], but we were the only ones out there enjoying each other’s company. We took advantage of Roy’s Happy Hour (until 7:00pm) and had as our Happy Hour Bites the fall-off-the-bone short ribs and lobster potstickers! We then split a Wagyu burger with Parmesan fries. Yummy! Our favorite dish at Roy’s is the Miso Butterfish! Roy’s also offers fabulous dining discounts ($25 dollars off your tab), so for the quality of the food at that price, Roy’s is a fantastic value!!
