Great food. Great service. A little louder than I was expecting. I'll be back.
Everyone, from the manager to waitress to busboy was great and welcoming. The food was delicious, and for my birthday celebration, they brought a complimentary, scrumptious lava cake and took a picture of my husband and gave it to us. They even stayed late as we finished our meal. Great experience!!
Food was superb, as always.
This can be a great dining experience - or a quick eat-in place at the bar.
Great service. Food was not memorable. Not worth the money - can get a better meal at this price point (or lower).
Lobster potstickers excellent. Fish entrees well prepared with great flavor. The broccolini side dish is served cold by design, keep that in mind.
We normally count on Roy's of Plano to provide well prepared food and great service - that's why we've been coming for nearly five years. Second time here for my mother's birthday, and this time they missed the mark. Service was slow and spotty, which we later found out was due to staff being at an offsite event. Would've been courteous of our server to let us know while we gazed longingly at the kitchen for our entrees. The dishes are becoming a bit contrived, and seem a bit ambitious for the kitchen to execute well. Saucing a fish dish is one thing, but a good sauce should complement seafood, not smother out the flavor of fish like Mahi Mahi or black cod. Shame. The desserts were spot on, however, and we appreciated the manager making it right at the end. We'll go back again, though it may be awhile.
We dined on a Wednesday evening with another couple and it was a very nice experience. Started with and Ahi Tuna poke and it was fantastic and the ladies shared a wedge salad which they enjoyed. The guys each chose fillet mignon which were both cooked to perfection and the ladies got the butterfish which they loved! We all four shared a pineapple upside down cake with coffees to end the evening. We left agreeing we would be back soon for more of this excellent food and atmosphere.
This is a classy fine restaurant. The service was excellent. The waiter even gave us $20 card. the food is out of this world. We will definitely going back to celebrate our special occasion.
Best Restaurant in Dallas!
Fusion cuisine. Food was very good and service was good. No complaints.
It was everything I had hoped for. I had my fab meal the braised short rib - it was exquisite.
We went to celebrate our daughter's birthday. She loved it, and the staff made her feel very special by having a personalized placard waiting at the table for us and a birthday dessert just for her.
This has become one of our favorite restaurants, and it definitely has some of the best seafood in the area.
I can't wait for our next trip to Roy's!
The service was wonderful and the meal itself was exquisite. When we want a very nice meal in a fine setting, Roys is where we go.
I took my wife to Roy's for our 8th wedding anniversary. Delightful experience. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgable. The food was delicious. I would recommend this to anyone.
I was unaware that there was a Hawaiian restaurant in the Plano/Dallas area.
Everything my server suggested was excellent!
Roy's is a favorite for special occasions. They are very attentive to things like birthdays and anniversaries and try to make sure it is special. I'm a fan!
We celebrated my wife's birthday. It was our first time at ROY'S. Everyone on staff went out of their way to make my wife feel special. The food was remarkable. The dining experience was incredibly impressive. ROY'S is a true gem and a great way to celebrate any special occasion.
Enjoyed the fantastic "ahi poke" as spicy shared appetizer and melt-in-your-mouth "butterfish" as main course. Service was great and wine list was impressive.
The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the food was outstanding. Pricing was on par with similar quality restaurants. Nice interior, which reminded us of places we'd eaten at in Hawaii. We would strongly recommend Roy's Plano for anyone who likes seafood and is particular about the quality and presentation of the prepared food. We ate a little later than normal for us (8:00 p.m.), but there was still quite a crowd in the restaurant. However, noise levels were moderate, and the service was very good.
We first went to Roy's in Waikiki and had a wonderful time, with FABULOUS Food and the Pineapple Upside Down Cake was to die for (I mentioned it in my Roy's Plano Review on 9/7/15 but had not tried Roy's Plano, TX version of this dessert). So on our 29th Anniversary on 9/7/15 we had a lovely dinner at Roy's in Plano, TX.
Having received a "Surf & Turf" Special via email, we decided to dine again at Roy's Plano, TX for a 2nd time and unfortunately it was a huge mistake! We were sat way in the back alone for some reason and we were beautifully dressed. Our waiter was slow and never asked us how the food was. The lobster tail was overcooked and tough as rubber. The Filet was also overcooked, not medium rare as requested; but, still was tender. I couldn't say the beef filet was tasty because there was so much cracked pepper on it, it overwhelmed the delicacy of the filet and actually burned our lips and mouths. So, we decided to try two (2) desserts and I was craving the Hawaii Roy's Pineapple Upside Down Cake...WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! The cake was extremely DRY, over cooked and had NO PINEAPPLE on it and NONE of the wonderful two sauces that thickly covered the presentation plate in Hawaii. This presentation was awful looking with just a mere spread of red sauce with no taste. But, the cake was really DRY AND OVERCOOKED AND NO PINEAPPLE OR SYRUP...IT WAS MISSING! Good thing there was some ice cream or the cake would have lodged in our throats! The Keylime Pie was just so, so; not anything to get excited about. Our bill was $159.23 for an AWFUL meal from start to end. Wasn't allowed to use our $20 Gift Certificate...which we'll throw out; don't plan to go back!
We had our 30th anniversary dinner at Roy's and the staff were great. They paid attention to every detail making sure that this was indeed a very special evening.
Roy's in Plano continues to be consistent in good service and great food. The featured two-course Filet & Lobster was outstanding. The potsticker starter with lobster filling and served with a Miso butter sauce was well presented and portioned just right. The potstickers were just crispy enough without being hard. The Miso sauce was just right without the ginger being overpowering.
The filet and lobster were done to perfection. The filet's coriander Chimichurri sauce was delicate yet added the perfect zest to enhance the tender filet. The lobster tail was firm, buttery and moist. The ginger glazing topped it off with that melt in your mouth yum.
Signature chocolate dessert was awesome along with. Korean fried rice was great . shrimp appetizer from pre fixed menu was perfect .
This Plano Roy's was really a very nice and quiet restaurant in comparison to the very loud noise level at the Roy's Waikiki where we dined last week. We enjoyed our 29th Anniversary Dinner at the Plano location and we were surprised at the end with a $20.00 Gift Certificate to use on our next visit to Roy's. The food here is wonderfully fresh and just the right amount with superb presentation. If you have room for dessert, try the Pineapple Upside Down cake; not like Grandma used to make; this is a sinfully elegant dessert that you'll go back for, time and time again!
The food was outstanding. The service was excellent. Love the Monday Price Fixe, truly a great value.
Very good food and service every time I go here! Ahi Tuna, Butterfish and Filet all tasted great.
Both the service and food were excellant. Great atmosphere. We had the ribs and my husband had the scallops - Both were awesome and the Hawaiin Martinis were the best! Lovely 'date' night for us. We'll definitely be returning sometime in th near future.
The food was great, Had Roy's Trio. My favorite was the mahi mahi. The service was spot on. Tyler and Briar make a great team. 5 stars all the way around.
We were very pleased with Roy's for our Anniversary Dinner! We had been to Roy's for my Birthday a couple years ago and have been wanting to return but just never made it til now. The evening was perfect for our celebration! Our server was very attentive & food was superb!
Having been to this location dozens of times from opening day through 2013 we were thrilled to be back after a two year absence. (We had temporarily relocated to Philadelphia.) Our experience was good but really nothing has changed. The menu was the same as was the crowd.
Recommend the lakanilau roll to start and all gyoza appetizers are amazing. Also try the seafood trio as its a sampling of the best.
Bottom line if you want a quality meal in a quiet, predictable restaurant go to Roy's. For fun, go to the Shops at Legacy.
We always have a great time at Roy's. For us, we prefer Roy's over a steak house - something more typical in Dallas. I ordered a special - Halibut. And I am hoping it is a regular menu item next visit. My husband's usual Mahi plate was overcooked. The waiter corrected the dish immediately. That is only negative and it was corrected. We'll be back.
Should have started with dessert!! The Chocolate Soufflé is sinfully good! Service was attentive but not annoying. Very nice dining experience.
Overall good experience.
The waiter was condescending and the food was over cooked
We had a very enjoyable evening for restaurant week The only notable exception was undercooked and slightly fishy tasting mahi mahi order by one member of our group. Otherwise attentive service with very good food. I highly recommend the beef short ribs.
This was my first time eating at Roy's with a friend and it was a great dining experience. We sat at the bar and was still able to get the restaurant week menu. All the of staff was very pleasant and the food was delicious, especially the Mac and cheese. I will definitely be eating here again.
We went to Roy's for a special dinner and it was anything but special. It started off a little rocky as we had a reservation and the front desk wasn't working smoothly and even though we were 15 mins early for our reservation we were 20minutes late in getting seated with no apology or concern about running late.
We were there for restaurant week and the sever never mentioned restaurant week or told us of any of their specials.
The food was ok but the evening was just off.
For that amount of money I wouldn't go back unless I had a gift card.
Cross this place off your list!
Just another chain , food was chain fare at best , Service was great , pace of service
Roy's is our go to restaurant for consistently great food. Never a bad meal.
It's never a good impression for me when I arrive at a restaurant to find all the close parking reserved by the valet. If I could park by the door I wouldn't need the valet! I was able to park fairly close on the side. I understand that this Roy's is connected with the one in Maui but the name is where the similarity ends.
We went there for the restaurant week menu. We had to ask for the menu even though it was stated on our reservation. The waiter did want us to order drinks. My friend ordered hers right away. He brought me a sample of the signature martini and eventually convnced me to order a drink. I ordered the chocolate martini which was good.
We were served the appetizer edamame which I love but I felt it had been overcooked as well. I thought it had a strange spice on it as well. I had the walnut apple salad. It wasn't what I expected but it was good. My friend had the truffled mac and cheese. It was a huge portion and she seemed to enjoy it. I was asked for the first time ever how I wanted my mahi mahi cooked. The waiter suggested medium. We both thought it was cooked too much. I did like that they gave you two scoops of ice cream with the chocolate souffle which was wonderful!
Our waiter was very good.
