Roy's Plano Ratings and Reviews
Don’t go on Valentine’s Day. Had reservations at 7pm and wasn’t seated for 50 minutes. It was next to impossible to get a bartender to serve you during the wait. Butterfish and steak food entrees, lobster tempura appetizer and key lime dessert were delicious. Salad was lacking - very little dressing and mediocre salad leaves.
Absolutely the best Sea Bass I have ever had and that includes from specialty fish houses both in the Dallas area and around the East Coast. Our server Carey was exceptional too with a solid knowledge of the menu and even the consistency of each fish. This is a definite keeper and we will return there again.
Outstanding food and service. My wife had the Mahi Mahi which she has nvever liked and absolutely loved it. The poke appetizer was a great start to the meal. The wine selection is very good and pairs well with the fish selections. Great spot for an anniversary meal.
This is a wonderful restaurant that features super-fresh seafood, and has other options like filet and braised ribs for those who aren't seafood fans. The service is impeccable. The staff is professional and at the same time makes us feel at home. The food presentation is outstanding but the taste is even better. Recent selections included the steak and lobster as well as the Ahi tuna as entrees. Both prepared as requested and delicious. The grilled Caesar salad is always great and a dessert of the bread pudding is not to be missed.
This special restaurant that should go onto your list of "must-tries" if you are in the DFW area. Located in the Plano area, it is fairly easy to reach from all directions. Reservations are recommended but not necessary. Their bar menu is always a good bet for a lighter meal. Sushi is terrific!
If you are looking for food out of the ordinary, please try Roy's of Plano.
I've eaten at Roys in Tampa, Chicago and Maui. The service was very good at all three. Roys Plano just didn't have it. Frazzled hostess, no feel good comments, unbussed tables showing how shorthanded they were. The food was good so I cant be too hard on the restaurant but the service needed some help.
The service was very, very slow on this night, we were in a large room with only one waiter. We have dined here many times and never had this problem unfortunately the other couple were very disturbed by this and weren't too nice about it. The manager made several trips to our table explaining the problem (kitchen??) and then comp our dessert. Don't know what really happened but it was not the best of circumstances.
Easily my favorite place to eat in Plano. The restaurant is set up such that it doesn't seem crowded even when all of the tables are full. It is easy to have a quiet conversation and to hear the people at your table. The drinks and bar staff are amazing. The food melts in your mouth. I don't eat shellfish, and there are plenty of other choices. The food is consistent and fresh. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Disappointed in the whole dining experience.
Lighting was horrible.
Food mediocre at best.
Poke bowl appetizer was varied but the tuna was too salty and the hamachi too dry.
Tried the ‘blackened ahi’ for main course and it was bland...$38.
Also had the steak and it was fatty and thinner than we expected for $47.
I know it’s a seafood place and should have know better than to order a steak...but, if your going to offer it on the menu and ask $47 then you should make it a big friggin piece of meat and cook it right.
We won’t be back and we won’t recommend it to anyone.
Food is always good at Roy's. I had the Roy's trio seafood dish and my husband had a steak which was very tender. We had reservations and were seated right away. It was a Saturday night so it was noisy and a little tight in terms of seating. The waitress had to squeeze past us.
Overall it is a very good place, however the prices are a bit high. For 2 of us, our bill was around $150.00 before the tip.
The food was very good. My husband and I both ordered the butter fish (black cod). We have also dined at Roy's in Hawaii and loved it, which is why we were very excited about the restaurant in Plano. The server may have been inexperienced or new. He wasn't proficient in pouring wine, which is what one would expect when dining at a restaurant of this quality. For example, he poured each of us over a half glass each initially, depleting most of the wine on the first pour. He also seemed to struggle when opening the wine. Plus, he didn't come over to find our how our meal was until we were almost done. We may try it again and hope that the service matches the price of the entrees.
