Great new menu items!
Roy's has a terrific lunch special. Entree, Miso soup, salad and cookies. Delicious and economical. Highly recommend.
We've always had a great time at Roy's. The service is great, and our last server, Brenda, was very friendly and attentive.
Great food — loved the Chilean sea bass! Service could have been better, though. No one came back to pour wine, or to check if we needed anything else. We had to flag down the waitress.
We enjoyed Carl very much and will ask for him in the future. Very personable and friendly. Better hang on to him!
We had a delightful server and our food was amazing as usual.
Food is different. Personally didn’t find it great but it was ok.
Food met our expectations. Very fresh and delicious. The Pineapple Turnover Cake is to die for. Our waiter took good care of us and constantly asking if there was anything else we needed. We arrived 30 min. before our reservation and were seated 15 min. earlier from our scheduled time. Our table had a greeting card with our names wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Loved it!!
Great service and food. My only complaint would be the seats. We all felt crowded.
The manager was helpful and productive. He served us.
Delicious salad - not the same old same old; The scallops were juicy and tender with a wonderful sauce and black rice. And of course the molten chocolate souffle - a great way to end any meal.
It was my ladies birthday and again everyone wished her a happy birthday. Great food as always.
Wife’s birthday
Make a reservation so you don't have to wait. Well worth it.
The service is absolutely perfect! We had the special Chilean sea bass. It was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful experience
The girlfriend and I love the steaks here, but the fish entrees are the stars of the menu here at Roy’s. Today I chose the Chilean Seabass over my regular Butterfish since it’s not regularly on the menu. The Seabass was cooked perfectly, tender and flaky on the inside with a nice crispy, buttery crust on the outside. The seafood here never disappoints and always has me coming back.
There were surprisingly few gluten free options. While the server offered that the kitchen would convert many other dishes to GF, it mainly involved removing the sauces or other preparations that made the dish special. Why spend $40 on a plain protein.
It is so easy to substitute for wheat flour in sauces (corn starch, arrow root, etc), or to find GF sauces (tamari versus regular soy sauce for example).
What we ordered was very good, but the menu limitations were overly severe for the price point.
Our server Emily was engaging, delightful and professional. I noticed that my entree was lacking in spinach. Emily promptly had a side of sautéed spinach brought out very quickly.
We asked numerous questions and she was very patient in answering each of them.
We enjoyed our Roy’s dining experience.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Roy’s. This one was terrible. Outdated, worn, and stale smelling interior. We had a butter lettuce and shrimp salad that was actually iceberg and chopped romaine lettuce with two chopped up shrimp. To add insult two of these salads and two ice teas was over $50 for lunch. Had the feel of a place on its last leg. Avoid.
Good ambiance 😘
It was pretty good-salmon was good not great-but I’ll be back. Waitress was wonderful!
I knew this restaurant was "pricey" going in... so no surprise there. But my order came out incorrectly and the amount of food I received relative to the price was outrageous! To their credit, our waitress immediately ordered the correct meal, and it tasted good. But I was expecting a mind-blowing experience for the price I knew I was going to have to pay. It was just "meh." It is a good restaurant... that's it. Don't let the fancy prices convince you otherwise.
Our food at the Roy's in Woodland Hills is consistently good. We were truly disappointed at the food in Pasadena. Sea Bass smelled fishy and was undercooked, non edible. Halibut was dry. Poke was good. NY strip steak was a little over cooked. We are Pasadena Playhouse season seat holders and were happy to discover that Roy's was walking distance. Unfortunately we won't be dining there again.
We’ve to Roy’s many times and it never disappoints us; including this one.
They were a little crowded but expected for their excellent service and food!!
Menu was excellent and the food was was cooked so very well. The entire table raved about their food selections and how they were prepare.
I'm a long time fan but this visit was definitely lacking. All my past visits to this Roy's were stellar. This time, the food was subpar and the service was even worse. Our waiter completely forgot about us on the patio. I had to flag him down and by then it was too late to order my favorite dessert which takes 20 minutes to make. I received better food and service from PF Changs and Yard House down the street. I was hoping to give my friend the best experience and instead I gave her disappointment.
Grossly overpriced, and food was disgusting. It was our first time here and we would never go back.
I brought my own bottle of wine. After being seated and taking my order for dinner, took my waitress 20 minutes before opening my bottle and serving us. Then another 30 minutes to get our appetizer, followed by an hour and twenty minutes to get our dinner. The manager did try and make it right, offering up his apologies, and complimentary dessert etc. However, thank goodness my wife dish was good, but my dish was dry and didnt eat much. Wasnt there night and had to eat afterwards. Ugh...
Celebration of my wife's birthday was great until we got to Roy's. Arrived on time at 8pm. Ordered, got the appetizers OK. 8:30, 9, no food. Finally someone came to the table & told us that something happened to our order. but it would be right up. Finally the food arrived at 9:30 boxed up. "We thought you wanted this boxed" No, I came to enjoy my meal. Still took another 15 minutes to get our food plated. My wife's shrimp VERY salty, my fish combo cold. Finally just left. Food ordered at 8, arrived at 9:45.
Never disappointed with Roy's. Went to Roy's for the first time in Hawaii and it was a great experience and the food and service is always consistent.
Took over 2 1/2 hours to get our food. Food also arrived cold and our server failed to update us on anything
We waited 2 plus hours for our food and when it had not arrived after that time, we left! The restaurant was noisy and the waitress visited us twice, to take our order and bring drinks. Never going back!!
Been here many times and have always enjoyed ourselves. This was not one of those times 1.5 hours to get our food and when we did get it both our plates were cold. And we finally flagged down a bus boy to complain because our waitress was no where to be found. With so many options in Pasadena Roy’s needs to do better.
Came into town for the weekend for some business.
We waited well over an hour for our food. Leftover Valentine’s Day crowd was the excuse told to us. No offer of lightening the blow of the situation. We finally were leaving restaurant 2 hours after our reservation time. The people sitting next to us couldn’t believe we were waiting for our food for so long. We joked that they had to go actually catch the darn fish. I loved Roys in Waikiki so much we went twice in one week and this location made Roys mainland something I wouldn’t recommend to others.
Great Valentines special menu. Food was amazing!
Wait to receive the food was extremely long waited at least 45 min to get the entree. Waitress was extremely nice and courteous to inform of the wait. But regardless of the information management did a poor job of overbooking reservations and took as many people as they can book knowing it’s Valentine’s Day. Management took advantage of the holiday and extremely poor planning. Lots of diners were unhappy with the wait and noticed some leaving even after they were seated at the table. The waitress deserves recognition for her extremely great customer service and made us feel important.
Although we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, our waitress was wonderful and the food was delicious. Will definitely go there again!
for whatever reason the entire restaurant was messed up and very behind in getting orders out. We had an eight o'clock reservation, were seated at 8:30. OK. It was explained to us that the kitchen was way behind at that time. The waitress was lovely and reiterated that things were behind. We were brought courses 1 and 2 in a timely manner but the Lobster pot stickers were sub par, and the Cesar salad greens wilted. We finally received our entrees at 10:30! At one point I walked over to the bar and asked if they had anything to snack on since I was about to pass out. They kindly gave me a cup of Maraschino Cherries. My husband and I have eaten at Roy's MANY times and liked the place but will probably not book it again. The many people who had to wait so long should have been compensated in some way but were not. Things happen, but that would have been good business.
We had a reservation at 8:00pm, didn’t get seating until about 8:40. This was after I called to tell them that O was running a few minutes late and they told me that they would cancel my reservation after ten minutes past 8:00, no discussion. Didn’t eat our main course until past 10:30. My girlfriend’s Filet Migon was mostly fat, not we we paid for. A server later asked her if she wanted a to-go box. She said no, and he brought one anyways. By the time this all happened, we were done with this place and just asked the waiter if they could box up our dessert. Terrible experience for 200.00. Will never come back here again.
