Roy's Orlando Ratings and Reviews
Not their best evening.
Two of us ordered filet mignon temperature medium. Twice both steaks were served very rare, almost raw. The third time was a charm and we both enjoyed our steaks. Unfortunately our wives had finished their meals.
Management handled the situation just as it is written in the textbooks.
We will try it again as every house can have an off night. They made it right, showing that they deserve another chance.
Went for Valentine’s Day for the surf and turf. Took over 30 mins to get seated for our reservation. We went for the lobster special and it was a whole lobster without the tail removed and cleaned. For a high end restaurant and the amount of money we paid that is unacceptable. May not eat there ever again.
We went to Roy's for Valentine's Day. Despite having an OpenTable Reservation for 7:30, we did not get sat until close to 8:15. The server was amazingly friendly and helpful, but everything else about the experience was bad. There was a forced Prix Fixe menu and upgrades weren’t allowed at all. The entire place was noisy with no music playing, at least not audibly. My Caesar salad looked like it was assembled at Walmart and stored on a counter. Then, my $70+ New York Strip was served with a side of Cold Lobster Macaroni and Cheese. We took our desserts to go and still didn’t get a chance until close to 10pm because the pace of service was so slow. When we arrived at home, we found that the red velvet dessert they bagged for us was scattered all around the container as if it had already partially eaten or carelessly assembled. I get that Valentine’s Day business is going to have an effect on experience, but don’t bring that many people in if you can’t afford to give them a worthy experience.
I was advised my friends that Roys was an amazing restaurant to go to. I decided to book a reservation 3 weeks in advance for Valentine's Day. Not only did we wait for 25 mins after our reservation scheduled time. We also didn't receive food for an hour and a half after we sat down. The food came out and my dish was decent at best and my girlfriends was terrible and it was chicken. Like how hard is it to make chicken. Ended up leaving very displeased and spending a fortune on food that Olive Garden could have made better.
We waited over 30 min until a server finally came to the table. We waited another 20 min for a drink. I asked the server to bring something special to the table sense it was our 16 year wedding anniversary. We got nothing!! ( all I wanted was a plate with writing of happy aniversary) The food was delicious as always. I spoke to the manager Alex but unfortunately he was too busy. I do understand it was Valentine's Day. Regardless I got charge for a Sangria we never had and worse our food took over an hour before we finally got an appetizer. Crazy horrible experience. Roys is my favorite place, but not sure now sense it was nothing like before.
Incredibly slow service on Valentine’s Day and filet mignon was drenched in an inedible salty sauce. Since service was taking so long (an hour and a half to get entrees) and I had plans after, we had to get our entrees and desserts “to go.” At home, I contacted corporate and received a return email validating my concerns without remedying them. Unless Roy’s makes up for their missteps, I will be avoiding this chain. P
Sat us in a booth with a vent above us that was dripping, told waitress, no action. Food was ok, portions small, nothing special. Ordered a whole lobster, no help nor direction in dissecting or eating it. The filet was extremely fatty. Everything was very salty. I won't go back. Was a terrible Valentine's dinner, thank God I was with good company.
My husband & I had lunch here on Valentine’s Day. They didn’t have any bottled water. We ordered a sushi roll which was way too loaded with cream cheese & saggy. We also ordered the spring rolls those were room temperature and greasy. The lobster potstickers were ok. I ordered the ahi tuna salad which was loaded with the hard white and yellow part of the lettuce, not much actual greens. Very disappointed!
I have always loved this restaurant, that is why we selected it for my birthday dinner. From the moment we walked in the door our feet stuck to the floor at the hostess stand (gross). Service was not quick, but it was friendly and efficient. Daniel was very knowledgeable. Our meal arrived but unfortunately 2 of the 3 meals were cold (room temp). We had waited too long to send them back. We ordered a glass of wine each. Mine arrived with someone's lipstick on the rim (GROSS!) My husband's had so much soap residue it had a film on the inside of the glass. The sushi was good with no issues. They did offer a free dessert for my birthday, always a nice touch. Overall a very disappointing night at one of my favorite restaurants. I don't know if they have changed management or what...but it might be a long while before I try this again.
My friends were new to your restaurant and they loved everything, including eating my sushi. The waiter, manager were great! I am upset that you took some of the Sushi dinners away, as there isn’t as much of a selection now. I was so looking forward to that as I was in for lunch last week before the new menu. AH😢
It took over 1.5 hours for us to get our food. We had not ordered anything complicated, chicken breast, scallops, short ribs. The manager came over but really did not handle it well. When we got our food, it was clear it had been siting under heat lamps for a very long time!! Overall, terrible experience in this very loud restaurant. I won't be back after having gone many times in the past.
Service was excellent. Food was good, but didn't seem as good as Roy's has been in other locations . The biggest problem was the noise. I could not talk to my wife across the table. We tried, but neither of us could hear the other. The manager came by to ask how it was (I guess), I couldn't hear a word she said.
To all these restaurants that seem to think that noise = energy, it DOESN'T. It just means I won't be back. Put some soft, sound absorbing decorations, or something to capture and break up the noise.
As always we enjoyed dining at Roy's. The crowd was unusually noisy , which hindered our conversation. We have noticed that the portions keep increasing in size, which of course makes the price also increase. We prefer the original smaller portions so that we have room for more courses. The price has increased by 50% and we end up leaving food on the plate.
Food was good, as always, but I guess it's been a while since we've been here, because I don't remember the average entree being $40. That kinda puts it into the expense account category, which was supported by the number of 8-10 person "office staff" tables around us and which, unfortunately, raised the noise level significantly. Maybe it was just a bad night, noise-wise, but the prices remained a bit surprising.
We had our 6 month old with us that evening but still was hoping to get a table for a good dinner. As we were seated and aware of the ambience of Roy’s we were worried about our potential little man disturbing the feel of the place. Our worries were immediately taken care of when David hit the table. He made our family date night that much better! He was knowledgeable and very personable and accommodating for our family and made the whole experience memorable. We will be back very soon! Especially for those lobster potstickers the ribs!
Food was just okay. Service was poor, waiter didn't return to ask about our meal. Had to wait a very long time for our dessert. Then we were given the wrong bill and waiter got very defensive and thought we were disputing the charges and we were just pointing out that it wasn't our food order on the bill. Restaurant looked like it could use some redecorating / cleaning.
A fan of many other Roy's this experience was quite disappointing. We were seated amongst a party of 30, and we were a party of 2. Though initially a few other small parties were seated nearby, eventually they moved due to the large group, and the poor service from our assigned waiter. We didn't want to be one of those tables that needed to be constantly reseated , maybe we should have. Though Roy's handles groups very well , they just need to decide if they are willing to sacrifice the special experience of a party if 2-4pp. BTW: Did I mention that our waiter never asked if we were celebrating anything special. We were. #lostinacrowd
