Roy's Orlando Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious, prepared perfectly, and the service was outstanding. But there were two things that put a damper on the ambiance that surprised me in an establishment like Roy’s.
1. From my seat facing the wall I found myself looking at a piece of artwork that appeared to be splattered with dried wine.
2. And while it might be trivial we were buzzed periodically my a gnat during dinner.
The service was incredibly slow; we were told no less than four times that the food was "on its way". It reached a point where it felt like the servers were avoiding our table since it was taking 20 minutes for drinks, an hour for entrees, etc. Once the entrees came out, the last member of our party still waited another 10 minutes for his chicken Caesar salad. This was a high end business meal with clients, and it was rather embarrassing.
Ok.. so did Roy’s get sold to someone who no longer cares about delivering great service and fresh vibrant food? This used to be a great restaurant, even with it being stuck on restaurant row..
Sadly, it seems to now just be a place that phones it in relying on the expense accounts of the convention crowd.
Tasteless sushi then an hour and a half to get the main course - over cooked , mushy fish devoid of flavor.
Wait for our dinner was extraordinarily long. We ordered the canoe for an appetizer and the chicken on the skewers was dry and the beef on the skewers was also dry and had no taste. The ribs were average at best. My wife and I had three sushi rolls which were OK
We have been to this Roy's several times and have always loved it. On this occasion my wife and I plus our 2 children went out with another couple. The service was excellent. The adults had cocktails, which were all great. The food was fantastic, as always. If you like fish, this is the place for you. For desert we had chocolate soufflé and upside down pineapple cake and both were amazing.
We have been to several Roy's in different locations. This one and the one in Honolulu have been consistently better than all the others. Highly recommend it
I've eaten at this and other Roy's many times because my wife and daughters are fans. I think the food is just so-so and the prices excessive. If I'm going to pay Roy's prices, there are better seafood restaurants. In any case, the meal started out ok. The restaurant was busy but not slammed. Yet we waited and waited for our entrees. When the entrees finally arrived, the waiter had placed the order wrong on one of them. He apologized and offered to comp a dessert. That he actually never comped a dessert is fine. We weren't seeking free food. That he charged us for both the incorrect and the correct entrees was unforgivable. If I have my way, I will never return to Roy's.
Food was just as good as it always is. Service was, however, sub-par. Server somewhat inattentive and failed to take everyone’s drink order. Then failed to put in one of the drink orders after they were all taken. The restaurant was not busy, but the kitchen was VERY slow. Nearly an hour to get our food. Server seemed perturbed by this as well. First time I have been disappointed by this chain (have dined in Oahu, Maui, Las Vegas, Chicago, Orlando before).
The service was terrible. We arrived & was seated promptly. However, we sat for a good 20-25 minutes without water or our drink order taken. Besides being parched for some time, when I did order a bottle of prosecco, every time the Waitress poured she'd spill a good amount. My guest didn't have enough for a third glass probably for that reason. After waiting for our drinks in the first place, our waitress did ask if the manager came by, and he didn't.
Obviously the place has poor management, and the service shows.
I've been to Roy's a few times years ago, and never did I have such a disappointing experience.
Next time I'll think twice before spending $150 at this restaurant.
I had received an email the day before from the restaurant promoting a feature but they "didn't have it" It was a ramen dish and they didn't have the noodles so they did finally serve it to us with a different noodle but gave us no compensation for the varied dish. I won't be returning to Roys anytime soon!
I am used to the Tampa restaurant which I love and frequent for special occasions or just when I want a fantastic meal, nice atmosphere and the customer service is above and beyond.
I have also visited the Orlando restaurant a few times and have been impressed with the consistency of how my expectations are met.
Roy's is such a unique dining experience! Even if you are not a seafood fan there are many alternative options.
I always choose the Seared Ahi Tuna entree but I have gone with family and friends that have preceded non-seafood items and they have always been impressed.
In my opinion Roy's particularly is a fantastic choice for special occasions, business events, or a romantic date.
We've been to several Roy's including Hawaii and have always had a good experience. That is, until we brought our family to the Orlando venue. I was Labor Day and there were very few diners. Six of our party of eight opted for the special "Taste of Orlando" menu, with differing options. None were satisfied with their dishes, and were particularly turned off by the Haupia Panna Cotta, which tasted like neither. Two of our party ordered from the regular menu, and were also unimpressed with their dishes. Worst was the service. As I mentioned, the place was practically empty, though there was plenty of staff. Even so, our appetizers took 25 minutes to arrive, and it was downhill from there.
We love Roy's and have been there many times. But this time we decided to go for Magical dining, and it supposed to be prix fix price for each person. By the time bill came, we found out everything was charged itemized and they exceed $35 fixed price. The server was pretty handful with big party, and we didn't have time to wait for it....so we paid! Just thought that it shouldn't be customers' responsibility to check the system for pricing issue.
Our server was outstanding! One of our couples arrived late and she helped us coordinate the timing of the food so that they got their 1st course immediately and then our entrees arrived together. She was also friendly, funny, and made the stress of our friends being 30 mins late completely evaporate.
