Under the current iteration of this restaurant, stay away... I have been a fan for many years and dined there dozens of times and always enjoyed the experience. This past visit the service was basically non existent, the kitchen filthy and in complete chaos. Knowing the menu well, the food served was not prepared as advertised, incorrectly plated and swimming in soy sauce. Had a health inspector been sitting with me they would have closed the place down. Prepping food without gloves, cross contaminating the cutting boards with sushi, then fried rolls, vegetables, etc. Dropping steamed vegetables on to the counter and then plating them was endemic.
Overall Roys is still very good. Food was excellent but service was a little off compared to typical Roy’s. Still good and I will comeback.
The “whipped” potatoes had no seasoning. No salt no pepper, just taste like cooked potato. No butter or cream. It wasn’t whipped. There were huge chunks of potatoes inside. The fish was cooked great but everything lacked so much seasoning. Why wouldn’t you put salt and pepper on the table? Everyone has different preferences. The sauce that came with our chicken roll appetizer was disgusting and smelled so bad. The waiter forgot to sub the sauce, he forgot to give us lemon and mashed potatoes and didn’t check in enough. If it wasn’t for our waiter forgetting so many things, I would of rated this place better. But still, the seasoning in the food was hardly even there. Definitely not worth $110. I have photos of the errors to post online for my yelp review.
A colleague recommended Roy's in Orlando. She said it is typically a crowd-pleaser. Roy's lived up to this billing. We were pleasantly surprised by the Magic Monday deal in Orlando. Would recommend Roy's to all of my friends who are near one of the locations.
Great Happy Hour menu and excellent Monday promotion. Service is wonderful and all the food is scrumptious!!!
We had reservations for 8:30 and were not seated until 8:50 even though there were plenty of tables.. It took 45+ minutes for our first course to be brought to the table. It was cold and needed to be returned. The manager came over and offered a luke warm apology. It was another 30 minutes and our meal arrived RAW. Sent back again. No apology.. Server was great. Chief came over to the table and said that they were very short handed. The manager was a hostess a few weeks earlier. It is easy to see why this Roy"s is not very busy. It used to be one of the best seafood restaurants in Orlando. No longer
Food was good, but not outstanding. Blue cheese wedge didn't have good blue cheese. Fish was cooked good. Took well over an hour to get food, but server was great. Overall good, but not what we previously got from Roy's.
Made the reservation to celebrate my wife’s birthday a surprise to her. But the restaurant never did anything no mention of the celebration. Server was almost never at the table took along tome to get drinks and she didn’t bring the kids beverages. Order Sushi as app and it came but still no kids drinks. Finally kids drinks came and asked if kids food could come out quickly the server stated kids apps of quesadillas should be out soon. We finished our apps and still nothing for the kids. Finally kids app came out both on very dirty plates. I stopped the manager walking by and explained what was going on. She said she would handle it and then the kids food came out followed by our salad and entree at the same time. My sons short ribs were on a dirty plate and no parm cheese for the chef pasta with butter and cheese. No one ever came back to see how everything was. Server seemed mad that we had said something. Paid $200+ dollar check, last visit to Roy’s!
The food was average asked for bread and they said they don’t serve bread fish was ordinary not even hot when served salad was mediocre for $11 would not recommend it go back
Not coming back here. The food was overrated. I ordered the classic four
which was a sampler of four different fish. Aside from coming in cold, the fish were not properly cooked. I got the cheap parts of the fish. Salmon was the tail end (very dry), the tuna was very chewy (has a lot of ligaments), butterfish was soggy because of the sauce and sliver of vegetables it came with, the mahi mahi was crunchy outside but not thoroughly cooked inside and it was sitting on a thin slice of steamed potato. The dessert were good though which obviously was not made onsite.
This meal was close to perfection. Our server, David, was next to perfect and was honest about the dishes we asked about! The manager stopped by our table a few times to check on us. When I got the wrong dish, they were on it, apologized, and made the dish I ordered as quickly as they could while I munched on the wrong dish - incredible! We will 100% be back for happy hour & will ask for David!! Well done, Roy’s Orlando!!!
It was great! Food: perfect, service: awesome.
The only negative thing: the noise!!! It was hard to talk to each other!
This was our 40th+ time to the Orlando Roy’s. My husband use to host Christmas parties for his company here.
Service was extremely slow for an empty restaurant and we were charged twice for the same meal plus an extra appetizer. This has nothing to do with the chefs, but service can ruin an entire experience. The server also stated multiple times that we were receiving a great deal. It was awkward.
It was my daughters 22nd birthday and I expected a little more. I was fine with charging me for her dessert, but the extra duplicate charges were annoying and missed until I was home wondering how two dinners cost close to $200 with 2 glasses of wine.
My fault that I didn’t question it, but I was trying to keep the evening nice and not ruin it with complaining about the cost in front of my daughter. Bottom line: Service is important and this service experience was an extreme distraction from what could be a lovely meal.
My wife and I love Roy's Fusion. We do all our anniversaries at Roy's and have done our anniversary dinners at multiple locations across the country. The service, overall atmosphere, and food are all very good. One thing I would recommend for the Orlando location is to play the music at a lower volume. Also, for those special events where a photo needs to be taken, it would be nice to have a photo spot with Roy's icon for marketing purposes and social media as a backdrop. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu items. We highly recommend Roy's.
I really like Roys. The service was pretty good, it’s nice and very dinner on the town although prices are more than need be.
The global "Japan" menu was excellent, our waiter Eric expained the dishes very well
The food was okay just average and for the price you pay to was not worth it.
Great food and service.
The Japan menu was awesome. You should have more! Overall great cuisine. Servers were fantastic, but a bit too hot in the back of the restsurant.
This Roy's location does not compare to others I have been to. Our service was poor and the food was mediocre.
We love Roy’s. No matter which one we visit, we can rely on them being consistent with the dishes. I love the butterfish and lava cake. My husband likes to try the different dishes on the menu. We have never been disappointed.
Great food! Sushi rolls were awesome
Restaurant was nearly empty when we ordered. 25 min to get appetizers and then another 30 to get dinner. This is after asking several times. Restaurant looks tired and is not worth $100 food bill w/o alcohol for 2 people.
The Food arrived to the table cold. One glass of wine came to the table when we ordered two. It took a long time for the second glass of wine to make it to the table. Two tables that were seated after us received their food before us. Slow service.
Service was terrible. Server had no idea about the menu. They were out of most wines. Really disappointing, seems like service has really dropped off over the last few years. At least two tables around us were complaining. Waited 20 mins to get a wine refill. For $170 dinner the service was subpar. Not worth the cost given how many other great restaurants are in the area.
As always, Roy’s was amazing! The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. I ordered fish cooked four ways and for dessert, I had brioche bread pudding with little pieces of bacon on top of each piece served with A side of vanilla ice cream.
Upon arrival they could not find the open table reservation. Then they did and took us to the table for 2 when we checked in it was 3 of us and reservation was made for 3 and confirmation mail was for 3 people.
Hosted took us to a four top but had 2 menus. She said that she would be back with another menu. About ten to fifteen minutes wait I got up and went to the hosted desk to pick up an another menu.
While seated and waiting for our wait person other server almost knocked me out of my chair and no acknowledgement or sooty was offers. I changed to the other chair to avoid it after three times. Unprofessional!
Our waiter took the order, appetizers were served timely manner then a fab for the entrees. Except our son’s steak the other two scallops and Ahi tuna lacked in quality and taste. Our waiter was too busy after open the wine and for the first pour, we continued to pour it ourselves.
Dessert arrived, we shared it waiter offered me a coffee and walked away without offering anything to my wife. He didn’t even asked. No professionalism, I tipped him generously but overall it wasn’t a great experience, not worth for the amount of money they charge for what and how they serve it to the guests.
It won’t be our choice of restaurant unfortunately we won’t recommend it to our friend.
We will go somewhere else for a better experience!
Food was terrible over cooked and cold ! Some dinners were missing key parts ie shellfish sampler missing shrimp rice so over done it was pasted to plate, Japanese tasting menu missing yuzu. Complained to manager she offered more food but why bother the first round was horrible, some appetizers came out others we waited 35 minutes for menu said roasted chicken which was actually deep fried and so dry it was inedible! chef never came out to address complaints he was probably too embarrassed that his kitchen put out such unacceptable food!! Would NEVER recommend this restaurant! Having been to 27 other Roy’s I can say this is not the Roy’s we know!
Food took forever.
This is still an excellent restaurant and I have eaten here before. This time they were just a bit off service wise. The waiter told us they were out of more then half of the wine selections because some large convention group had come in and purchased a bunch of wine. For Pinot Noir’s they only had the most expensive stuff left. I got an Ahi Tuna meal and it was one of the best Ahi’s I have eaten. The Swordfish My date got was excellent too. The Sashimi appetizer was good but not great. The server seemed to leave us alone after we ordered and the food arrived. I chalk up his lack of attention to the time he needed to spend at each table apologizing for the wine selection. He spent 5 extra minutes with us running back and forth seeing what they had left in stock.
So we get to the place and approach the front station where there are three hostesses walking around and we are the only ones waiting to be acknowledged and seated. All three are moving around doing various things with menus and table assignments and not one acknowledges that we are standing there for several minutes. After a while one hostess comes back and, still ignoring us, greets another couple that just walked up right besides us until I say “What’s going on? Are we piece of furniture?”
This is not the first time we’ve seen poor service at the hostess station but I can tell you it will be the last at this place.
Great service and the food was really good.
Not a lot of food for a lot of $. They ran out of desserts after you were forced to order from price fixe menu.
Valentines day. Usually a full house but there were at least 10 tables not occupied and they had only a prefix menu which was very limited, although it was very nice. First two courses were nice, then one severely under cooked steak on one of our 2 meals arrives and the waiter did not check on us so the other meal was already eaten by the time the steak was even picked up. 45 minutes later a new steak arrives that’s also severely under cooked. Then we send that back and just say will take it to go and do dessert. They say we will comp the meal and give it to you to go, but after dessert and paying the bill, there is no meal to go. So basically we did not pay for what we didn’t get, but we did get a ruined evening. Shocking for a normally nice place.
Wife’s chicken was dry and food didn’t impress.
Wait staff is second to none, food is great too!
Very busy night due to convention. Too loud for my taste.
All of the food was delicious! Service was top notch too! We brought people from out of town with us and they said it was the best meal they have EVER had!
Absolutely amazing meal, the service was excellent!
Outstanding food and relaxing meal
