Roy's Jacksonville Beach Ratings and Reviews
Overall very exquisite and high end setting. Service was some of the best I've ever had. I brought my girlfriend on a date for our one year anniversary. I imagined we would have a better seat away from the kitchen and away from the constant walkbys by waiters and servers, that took away from the romantic setting I was expecting. However Grant was serving us, he began by asking us if we would like any wine or cocktails. Although we are underagged and it was obvious I greatly appreciate the non-bias. Throughout our visit he was very kind and polite. Very generous giving us suggestions to make our experience much better. The food was perfect, steak cooked and seasoned just right. Grant checked up on us regularly to make sure our meal was perfect. I would say that if you're afraid to spend a little bit of money, do not come here. But if you're looking for a spot for a special occasion this is the perfect place to be. Hats off to Grant and the chefs who helped make my one year anniversary something special!
Roy's is a good place for special occasions, or if you don't mind somewhat expensive dinners. the highlights are, the food and craft cocktails are excellent, and the servers are pretty attentive. It is loud, though; and you should not go if you are in a hurry.
When we arrived at the time of our reservation, we were told they were about 15 minutes behind. We went to the bar and ordered cocktails, which were excellent. After about a 35 minute wait, we were seated.
Our server came quickly. Since we still had our cocktails, we did not immediately order wine, but we did order an appetizer. The server also mentioned a free edamame appetizer, which we accepted. We also ordered glasses of wine, but asked for them to be brought when we finished our cocktails.
The wine came quickly. After about 15 minutes we asked about the appetizer and were told it would be there shortly. We suspected the server just forgot to order it. The edamame arrived about 5 minutes later, but the appetizer never arrived.
We both had Chef's Specials, one pork and one Oha (a hawaiian fish). Both were excellent. When our entrees arrived, we just asked to cancel the appetizer, which the server happily did. She also immediately offered us a complimentary chocolate lava cake. We don't usually eat desserts, but we accepted and it was delicious.
So all in, it is great food and great cocktails. It is quite busy and a bit loud, but they are very customer focused and will take care of you.
It was a five year anniversary of our first date and the food is fantastic. We couldn’t afford there often but when I can spend a lot of money in my favorite girl this is the place we go to. The food is spectacular and we space out the presentations so that we can enjoy the courses. Order the soufflé when you arrive and prepare your taste buds for an exhilarating ride.
Went to Roy's to try out their brunch and celebrate a birthday. They made the entire experience exceptional! They made us feel special, were very attentive, provided a free appetizer and free dessert, which were both fantastic! Our server was a joy. She offered great recommendations and made sure our bottomless mimosas were never dry. It was such a great birthday celebration. Thanks Roy's for making us feel so special! We will definitely be back.
At one time the food was quite good. Last time we had dinner clearly the quality had gone downhill. We had dinner on Christmas Eve and it was really, really poor. I live in Jacksonville and read several months ago that Roys received poor results on food inspections. I doubt we will return.
I’m disappointed to have to give Roy’s a bad review as we have had very good meals here in the past. We made reservations and were seated promptly. The lighting was too low, unable to see menu without phone flashlight. The waiter rushed through any details he was providing and it was hard to hear him due to the noise level. Our entrees were were subpar, not what you would expect for the $25-$40 range. Specifically the mahi mahi seasoning was way too salty, two of us had this problem with the fish. The tiger prawns were just okay and again not worth the price. Unfortunately we have been having these same issues the last few visits. We won’t be back for these expensive entrees.
