We visit this hotel at least once a year and always look forward to eating at Roy’s. It never disappoints.Very good again. The black Cod dish was excellent. My wife always orders the chocolate soufflé which she feels is the gold standard.
This Roy’s is consistently one of the best Roy’s in the chain . Looking forward to returning.
great place for food and fun, love it great flavors
They initially had no reservation for us. Receptionist said they have problems with Open Table all the time. It was not very crowded so we got in. The Buttefish is worth it all. I have been staying away from sugar. The waitress said they could do berries with whipped cream without sugar. Bring a small flashlight as they keep the lights very dim.
It was a great dining experience.
Roys is something special with a twist on usual fish & steak with exceptional accompaniments. I like that they offer unique sushi options. The other 3 in our party had the seafood sampler, butterfish and swordfish. Everything was exceptional including the griller Caesar salad and miso soup. Only reasons for not rating a outstanding overall is 1) the server was not as attentive as we expected (water glass refills for example) and 2) entree pricing is about $10 too high in my opinion.
I have eaten at several locations of this chain. This was definitely not best one. Didn’t think the food was that great quality for the price.
I had the salmon and I think it was a very standard flavor, nothing special about it. Service was average only.
I was staying at the JW and dined here because I didn’t feel like leaving the property- next time I would leave as there are plenty of options around
Overall nice experience. Our group had a variety of meals. Filet and lobster were perfect! The scallops were good but were paired with a side that was way to sweet. Mashed potatoes were gooey. Shrimp dishes very good. Specialty drinks small after 1 we all opted for wine instead.
ambiance outside had a great attempt to be authentic with tiki torches for mood lighting. unfortunately theywere extremely annoying flickering amd making it ard to read the menu etc. I noted other tables pull out pocket flash lights complaining about the same thing, so I'm not the only one. food was ok and tasted good but would not put on the category of value or amazing. server was ok but missed one side of the meal and either server or front desk gave our birthday desert to another table...lol. I may try again in the future to give them another try, mainly because the drinks were well prepared.
Our first time at Roy's at the Desert Ridge location. The food was amazing as well as the ambiance.
I have never been disappointed by any of Roy’s locations. That being said, Roy's Desert Ridge exceeded my expectations. The ambiance within the restaurant exuded a quiet elegance. Service was thoughtful and very considerate of our conversation, not hovering. Our meals were both delightful and perfectly timed to be served at their peak, together. I have never had such extraordinary blackened Ahi and perfect accompaniments. They made the evening very special for us.
Went on a Friday night.
Had sushi which was very expensive and had pathetic amounts of raw fish--mostly rice--not good by local standards.
Entrees were shrimp and udon noodles and shrimp risotto which were good but portions small for the price.
Service was very good.
Wouldn't recommend as many better alternatives.
Have to valet at hotel or it is a LONG walk in.
We love Roy's and dine there often. This time we used a travelzoo coupon. Should know not to do this. The options are so much better on the regular menu. Dine there but not on the promotion.
We have always enjoyed Roy's but this was a disappointment. Food (mostly fish and seafood) was all but cold except for the molten chocolate cake. Based on this experience, I would not recommend. I am not sure when we will be back and we have been regulars of this establishment when in town.
Our favorite place for fine dining. Location is great and the ambience is wonderful.
Food is original and excellent.
I have always loved Roy's. Been to several at different locations. The prices at this Scottsdale location seemed to be extremely inflated. For that reason, not sure that I would recommend .
Great location if you want to impress, or just sit back and enjoy!
Overpriced and salty
The black cod "signature" dish was mostly over-seasoned sauce. Not a good value
Our server, Scott, was attentive and helpful in making recommendations. Food was excellent and atmosphere relaxed and lovely.
Great food in a relaxing location. Service was great a d allowed for enjoying the food and company.
Based on the recommendation of friends (and because we were staying at the resort), we celebrated our anniversary at Roy's. We decided to do the tasting menu w/ selected wine pairings. Overall, we had a great experience. The first two courses (pickled halibut and carpaccio) were tasty, and the wines were a nice complement. For the third course, my husband selected the prawns, which he enjoyed. I chose the lamb, which I did not enjoy. The meat was a bit fatty, and there wasn't much of it. The side was a bit muddled (I'm not even sure what it was). But the wines were good. We also enjoyed the dessert.
Dixie was our server, and she was terrific. Very professional and helpful. I wish she had told us that we were going to get complimentary champagne so that we wouldn't have ordered pre-dinner cocktails.
We would return to this restaurant even if we weren't celebrating a special occasion.
We came during Aloha Hour to sit outside, have a couple appetizers, and listen to the great live music with Mai Tais. Yummy!
It was our anniversary so I had let them know when I made the reservation. We were seated at a perfect table. The waiter was knowledgeable, professional, timing was perfect. The food was out of this world fantastic!
I am 56 years old and I do not recall ever having a more flavorful, perfectly prepared steak in my life! I got the mac n cheese side with it and it was easily enough to share. Made with a bacon bechemel sauce and sharp cheddar. Nice little bite to it!
We also had the tiger prawns which were rich and juicy! They came with soba noodles in an Asian style sauce. What can I say? Perfection!
We were greeted with complimentary champagne for toasting our anniversary. To finish this great experience, they brought us a superb chocolate soufflé for dessert that had a personalized happy 27th anniversary message in chocolate calligraphy!
We did dine early. So had most of Roy's to ourselves. We also had great attention from our wait staff. The food was everything that we had expected.
Roy's is my go to spot. Love the atmosphere and really appreciate the great taste of all their food. Look forward to returning soon!
Not impressed with food or service . Thank goodness we had a 25% off certificate. There are a lot better options nearby.
Location is beautiful. We've dined here many times before. However, with it being Labor Day weekend there was a large number of families dining, some in bathing suits straight from the pool (I mean, come on...really???) and other children wandering around asking other diners if they wanted to see a magic trick. Even one three year old toddler sitting in a high chair topless (yes, a girl). Another family had their kids in pajamas. Really?
Roy's is not an inexpensive restaurant, more on the side of fine dining. But obviously management deems it okay to just show up as is and anything goes.
Now, to the food. We all ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish, which I've had here many times previously and at other Roy's around the world. I found this version to be sub-par. The fish was not it's usual slightly firm and flaky fish. It was mush. Literally. No texture whatsoever.
Service was average to below average. Very long waits for appetizers, entrees and then dessert. The waiter even came by and asked "Oh, how was dessert?" when we had never even received the chocolate souffle. And they had to be reminded that it was my daughter's 30th birthday.
Quite disappointed. Roy's at Desert Ridge has become just an average hotel restaurant. Nothing special here...except the very high prices. $180 for two drinks, two appetizers and three entrees (dessert was comped for the birthday).
I can't thank the Roy's team enough for our wonderful dinner tonight - the hostesses, our server (Dixie) and Tammy (the restaurant manager) were all tremendous.
Dixie was an absolute joy. She was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. She remembered that it was my husband's birthday and acknowledged him (and the occasion) repeatedly throughout the meal. She noticed that one of our side orders was almost untouched and, without hesitation, stated, "We guarantee that you will love everything and, since you didn't love this, I will remove it from the bill." What a class act.
Tammy greeted our table and chatted with us, making us feel appreciated just for dining at Roy's.
Thank you, everyone, for your great hospitality!
Food was delicious, for accommodating to our special occasion birthday and to our Living Social Coupon. Service was excellent!! Highly recommended.
Service was marginal. Charged full price for a piece of halibut simply grilled, but because there was a halibut special on the menu, they charged the full price of the entree special, which had lobster. Didn't really think about it until later. Food was typical Roy's, but for a meal over $200, I expect far more. Would not rush back.
Unfortunately for us we purchased a groupon and the menu was very limited to things we would have not ordered so our mistake that wont happen again. We always love Roys, but this time we thought we were saving money, but their food is so good its not worth a groupon with menu restrictions.
Amazing food, ambiance and service. Thanks Roy's for the amazing anniversary dinner
Maybe it's because it was fairly late on a Thursday night, but the food and the service was just tired. Roy's needs to really up their game for me to return.
had great expectations given the overall positive vibe with this restaurant. Found the food to be very overpriced. We did not think the featured fish dish lived up to the description provided by the waiter. Ambience is lacking - basic hotel setting, very limited outside views
Loved Roy's. Great service and fantastic menu. My Steak was cooked to perfection (which isn't always the case with American restaurants). Great ambience and highly recommend
We totally love the experience. The food was excellent. The price was excellent. And the servers really knew what they were doing. Couldn't of asked for anything better
Not your regular Roy's. This one is located in a busy Marriott inPhoenix. Lots of children, very casually dressed folks - probably sharpens up in the late Fall and Winter. Still, not many nicer restaurants welcome patrons wearing baseball hats backward.
Food was ok, service not great.
This could be a nice restaurant.
Love Roy's! Great food.
The service was good, food very pricey, quality of food average, there was some confusion regarding our reservation and there was a wait for the table for unknown reasons. I would select a different venue for a future business meeting. The hotel was fabulous and the other restaurant on site was quite good by comparison.
One of the best Roys I've been to.
Vacation at Desert Ridge. Best option for the area. Bar bites is an outstanding value.
Very nice place to eat, food was expensive but very good. Table close to us had a lady that was essentially yelling he whole life story for over an hour. To the point that several other guests at her table left pretty early.
