So sad that one of my favorite restaurants for decades lost their excellence. We ordered 3 different bottles of wine that were not available. The manager stayed on the phone trying to consult with another manager about what to do and never returned. The Butterfish (my favorite) was not fresh. The BEST part of the night was waiter Kevin. He knew the menu, was attentive and made Roy's shine. They are so lucky to have him.
Great steaks, great seafood. Would go back anytime.

I have been dining at Roy's for many years. I go to Roy's for my daily meals and on dates and with friends. I have always had good service and good food. I have no complaints. I would definitely suggest Roy's to my family and friends.
We absolutely loved our experience at Roy's! The food was delicious! We each had a salad then I had the tofu yakisoba and my husband had the wagyu burger. He is not easily impressed by food and he loved the burger! For dessert we had the pineapple upside down cake and that was amazing! My only complaint is that we had to call into the restaurant because the person working valet was not at the post and when we picked up our car we had to wait a while because the restaurant did not know where the valet guy was.
The entire evening was awesome! From the cool drinks to the delicious food to the fun desserts. our birthday celebration and night out was enjoyable and relaxing. The excellent service just topped the night off. Thanks for a great dining experience!
Manager was amazing with our daughter. Played with her, brought her crayons and a chef's hat, even brought her a quesadilla just to be nice before we ordered. Our meals and drinks were great too. Such a good experience.
Hands down a delicious meal and excellent service. Went for my one yr anniversary and they went above and beyond. The dessert plate said happy anniversary and the food was by far AMAZING! The price fits the quality of the food. Andrew, our server went above and beyond with recommendations and conversation. He made our anniversary night the best. The braised short rib and blackened ahi were great and the pineapple upside down cake was a mouth watering blessing in disguise. You will not be disappointed. Head over for their happy hour or prix fixe menu on Sun & Mon to get a sample of their food. I can say that you'll probably stay for an entree (at full price).
I had dinner in Roy's in several occasion: dating, friends, Christmas's Eve. Always a very good experience !!! I will be back soon
The manager was amazing! My daughter was hungry and he got her food right away and when she started getting bored he took her to get a chefs hat and watch the kitchen work! So thankful for our wonderful service!

The Butterfish and Pineapple Upside-down cake are both terrific.
Sadly you can tell that Roy’s is struggling. They used to have a great happy hour but now it’s meh. We got a sushi roll, pork sliders and the parmesan fries. We discovered we never got our fries only to find out they ran out! How do you run out of fry’s?? It’s a potato! Anyway it wasn’t horrible but the food was pretty mediocre.
One can always count on fantastic food, service and a wonderful experience at Roy's! That's why we keep coming back.

A must when in Chicago: Always great for business dinner, decent ambience, terrific menue, superb service. Sometimes a bit noisy, when crowded.
We had a nice birthday dinner for my mom. Food was great as usual. Staff was terrific and waitress bought my mom’s dessert. Waitress also took a photo of us, printed it and gave it to her as a birthday card. Outstanding!
The best part is that my wife has some food allergies and emailed the manager before our dinner. The manager was nice enough to email her back and offer some menu options in advance. That’s terrific service! Thank for another great meal. See you again soon.
A gem just west of Michigan Ave.! Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. An eclectic customer base- families, singles and couples, groups of friends were all served at their own pace. Definitely will return! The prixe fix menú was fabulous
We've gone here numerous times and keep trying to give them a chance. The last 3 times, service was very unresponsive in numerous ways, at least one food order good and as represented in the menu, and it takes FOREVER to get food. I usually tip well and last night, I didn't.
Consistent across the country. Yes it’s a chain, but it’s not a Seasons 54 or Brio type chain. Had brunch. I would have expected grass fed aged beef in Chicago.

Made reservations for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend who is vegetarian, their menu is normally 30-$50 an entree but that night they had a “special menu” where everything was in the $80 range. They also normally have a vegetarian menu, which was the whole reason I booked a reservation there in the first place. That night they were serving little to no vegetarian options so we ended up having to leave and find another restaurant to eat at for Valentine’s Day! The bait-and-switch tactics plus ruining our Valentine’s Day plans really left a bad impression on me of what is likely a fine restaurant, food and service-wise.
We visit Roy's quite often. For Valentine's Day, they removed several of their signature items. Being that it was Valentine's, We could not go anywhere else without a reservation. So, we had to deal with a limited menu choice. Would have been nice to know in advance.
I finally went to Roy's after 10 years. I purchased a Gilt City coupon, which was dinner for 2 from the prix fixe menu. It was okay, but the next time I go, I'll order from the main menu. The appetizer from the prix fixe menu was just okay, the appetizers from the main menu were excellent. My entree was really good, but my husband's was nothing I'd recommend. The drinks were amazing, and the dessert was awesome. All in all, we will go back and order from the main menu.
We went for Sunday Brunch to check out their options. Unfortunately, we forgot it was restaurant week and they had a special for the promotion so we didn’t get to try their regular brunch menu. As usual, the food was excellent and the service was great. Limited menu options for this special week, but we will be back soon to try the regular brunch menu.
Excellent, delicious food. Great ambiance and friendly staff. When asked for restaurant recommendations Roy's is always at the top of my list.

We went for dinner during restaurant week. The lobster bisque and salmon were the best we had during the week. We had dinner at 5 restaurants during the week. The flank steak was a little tough and the dessert brownie was a little dry. Overall, we will definitely return.
