Roy's Chandler Ratings and Reviews
I am always underwhelmed when I go here. It should be excellent food for the price you pay but it’s always just ok. I don’t eat that much but we ordered an appetizer and I got the swordfish special and on the drive home I was starving. The portions are really small and my food was lukewarm. It was a little dry too. We go there when we have out of town customers because the service is great but I’ve never had a meal that wowed me.
Once again we had a great delayed Valentine celebration. My wife has food allergies and the attention to the issue from notes under our name to double checks by the servers make this a stress free meal every time. On top of that, the food is always perfectly prepared. My Filet was cooked exactly to medium rare and the lobster tail was incredibly moist and tender. The service is always spot on. We love this restaurant.
We had a 7 o'clock reservation. When we entered the restaurant, we Joined a group of at least 6 other couples that also had 7 o'clock reservations. After waiting 25 minutes in the lobby, we then waited another 15 minutes at our table for our server to arrive. No apologies, no free drink To say I'm sorry, nothing. The food was good, but Not good enough to make up for the lack of service. My wife and I like fine dining restaurants but will be spending our money at other establishments. This was our 1st time and we will not be coming back.
We made a reservation and choose Roy’s because of location to both couples a few hours before we arrived. However when we were promptly there, “our” table wasn’t ready, we understood but when 3 other tables of 4 and a table of 2 that were seated before us it started off bad. Things only went down hill from there as Water, drink order and drinks took forever.
Service was so slow that one member of our party returned to the bar and got a drink faster than waiting for over 10-15 minutes be he left to go get it.
Sushi was good as appetizer and waitress was friendly when she did come by but if you want a better steak or seafood I would suggest many other places for same price point. The Keg, Stockyards or spend almost the same and go to City Hall/Mastro‘s Steakhouse.
As I think about my experience last night I have to say I’m torn.
I had a wonderful bottle of wine, a four course dinner and so enjoyed my husbands company. It was Valentine’s Day. Restaurants get a bad wrap on these busy days sometimes.
Yes I’ve had better food and faster service at Roy’s. But our waiter was so nice and always smiling. The managers were out checking on people. Yes they were sweating but they were busy. The lobster bisque was a tad watery, but the tuna roll, the chopped salad the lobster and steaks were great. We took our desserts home and ate them in bed. Red velvet cake was to die for.
Considering the massive amount of people they had to feed last night they pulled it off. It’s when push comes to shove that the true essence of a place shines and I’d say Roy’s did a great job last night. I have to concur with my previous reviews they are one of my favorites consistently.
Food was fabulous I had Lobster and Fillet, Hubby had Sirloin and Mushrooms. The only issue we had was the bus girl. She kept trying to take the plate away before we were done and then when she packed up my husband's meal she didn't include the untouched lobster mac and cheese. He was so ticked when he got home and it wasn't in his bag. Roy's food is great but you do pay a good price for it and he wanted it all to go home with him. They gave us a card to return in the next month with $20 off which was a nice touch because we ate there for Valentines, but watch out for the bus girl.
The food and services are always outstanding. The presentation is superb. The restaurant employees, front office, servers and bus people are well trained, knowledgeable about the food preparation and very helpful. Prices are a little high for our senior budget, but we love coming to Roy's for most special occasions.
Roy's was your Celebrating Special place. Always had good food with wonderful flavor. Since it has been sold the food quality has disappeared - the food was poor quality and not cooked correctly. I had a Lobster tail - it was mushy and no flavor at all. The Prawns from last year were gorgeous these were small shrimp, the Scallop last year was perfect - this year tiny and no flavor. Hubby got the chicken and it was dried out. Time to find a new Special Occasion place because it was not Roy's Hawaiian Fusion. Wait staff was great but surprised they served this food. I saw a couple we know and asked about the Lobster. She felt it had no flavor and was mushy also. Very disappointed!
Excellent in all respects, including presentation and unique cocktail offerings. We had the Classic Four entree--highly recommended.
Our friends (and local hosts) characterized this restaurant as "for adults," meaning not to expect screaming kids. Acoustics seemed much better than average: we could easily hear each other; no need to yell!
Food was okay but not as good as I remember. Drinks were good but for the price, the food should be exceptional.
The Roy's in Waikiki set's the bar high and the fish we had was exceptional . The food at your Chandler location fell short of my expectations unfortunately. Getting harder to find good seafood in the Valley:(
Roys, which was a long time favorite, is off my list. The service was poor and our server seemed lost. We waited forever to be greeted by him and then felt rushed by his approach, we had to ask about specials which he knew little about. Once we started the appetizer was slow top come out and was just so-so. I realized our server was better suited for a job at Applebees when he brought the bottle of Merlot out and started to decant it, without asking and before we tasted it; who decants Merlot anyway? The main coarse was very slow coming out but was hot and pretty good once it got there. We did have desert but they seemed much smaller than I remember. In the end our server didn’t disappoint, he just walked up and put the check on the table saying he would take it when we were ready. He did return a couple minutes later with a piece of cheesecake and a candle. It seems he looked at the computer and realized we were there for a birthday celebration, so we got to eat some cake as we were getting ready to leave. At this point we found the whole experience kind of funny but sad. Just another chain restaurant off our list.
Somewhat dissapointing. Service was very poor. Took about 15 minutes to get just water. The waiters were unconnected and didn't appear to know what they were doing. It took much longer than expected to get the entree that we decided to skip dessert. The food and ambiance were good.
Normally have good service at this location. This evening was different. We weren’t informed of the specials but asked and decided on the Tomahawk ribeye special. Told server we’d have wine with dinner (even specified the Malbec we wanted) and ordered cocktails. Didn’t see our server again until we had finished our meal. No stop for more cocktails, no stop to confirm/bring the wine (we drank water with our meal). Our salads, steak, and sides were excellent (steak was prepared perfectly) but our experience would have been better with proper service (and wine!). Restaurant missed out on at least $50 additional drink orders. Our reservation was a Saturday at 6:00....the restaurant was not super busy.
The quality and creativity of the food was extraordinary! We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we were greeted by the host and taken to our table which was decorated with flower petals and a nice birthday card.
Our server was equally attentive and made a concerted effort to make our visit a memorable one.
As a result, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will come back again.
