Roy's Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter made the evening. He was attentive, caring & met our every request. Most importantly he was kind & made us felt welcome. He also gave great suggestions when ordering.
The food was amazing from the lobster bisque to the 4 sampler.
And to top it off not only a special treat at the end but a photo of the special occasion. WOW! Now that is outstanding service & the competition isn't doing that.
We will definitely be back!!
Roys is always great. The food, ambiance, and service were excellent. I had the butterfish and my date had the macadamia nut mahi mahi. The scene was vibrant, but the noise level was such that we could have a normal conversation. Our server, Beth, was particularly attentive.
Started with the poke bowl and lobster bisque. The soup was excellent, poke was bland, not what I remembered having there a few years back when it was tasty. Fish was all excellent, we had butterfish, salmon, mahi-mahi, and tuna. They served extremely small portions for a substantial cost, that were only served with a dollop of pretty tasteless rice. Service was excellent, atmosphere lovely.
Appears to be a very cleanly restaurant. Located in a neighborhood of corporate offices and other non-commercial businesses. Offers comfortable bar, table or booth seating. White table linens give a classy feel to the establishment. Foods were served with a flair to elegance. For starters, we had Basil Stuffed Eggs, topped with bacon crumbles and roe from salmon, (very good) and lobster popstickers, (so, so, not much flavor) although the popstickers are their best selling starter. My husband entree was the fillet of Beef, served with carrots. It was a very salty and a small serving for the price. I had pecan crusted Mahi Mahi (very tasty) and mushroom soup ( little flavor, nondiscript). Desserts were excellent....a kind of coffee pudding and a chocolate cake topped with whipped cream dollops fresh raspberry & blueberry. These were a excellent end to this meal.
This was our second visit. Ironically no one could vividly remember our first visit, but we will never forget this visit. The food was awesome, service outstanding, no crowds or lines. The food was fresh and very tasty. Party of 4 and not one complaint. We shall return.
Friendly staff, upscale but relaxed with warm, colorful décor. The fixed price menu (Sun and Mon) was a treat with excellent options!! The seafood was very fresh and cooked perfectly! Delicious complementary birthday cake, ice cream and candle -- they took a photo of group with their camera and gave us each a copy in a Roy's frame!!
The souffle for dessert is not really a souffle but more of a lava cake. Our service was not something we've experienced in the past. Did not share specials, offer alternatives, slow, our check had drinks from another table. And we were celebrating a birthday
Excellent! We really enjoyed the food. They were a bit late to seat us but comped our starters as an apology. Nice! Food fresh and delicious. Chocolate cake amazing. Only complaint was the noise level and that's prob because there was a large group next to us.
Restaurant is a bit noisy even when fairly empty. However, food is superb. Ever since Hawaii we have been looking for someplace that makes good Poke and this was a winner. We had the classic four sampler and it was all good -- but the butterfish was outstanding.
Had a friend come to DC for work and asked to have dinner short notice, and we picked Roy’s for it’s proximity to the water. Obviously it’s pricey, but I’d say it was well worth it. Our server let us know that if we ordered a filet or ribeye, it would come with a free lobster tail. I think it was just because of the time of night, and they probably would throw out old shellfish. But it was still a nice touch.
Appetizers, entrees, and wines were perfect. Definitely would go again. Try the lobster potstickers.
I chose Roy's for a recent Friday night date, looking for unique dining experience with authentic food and atmosphere. Based on the majority of the reviews I had read, it seemed like Roy's would meet those criteria. I would have to say that my experience at Roy's was right on the mark. The atmosphere is vibrant. The service was excellent, and the food was authentic and delicious.
I purchased a VIP voucher through Travelzoo that promised a "$120 dinner value for two for $59" Their "$120" value consisted of an appetizer (menu price $10), 2 salads ($11 each), 2 entrees ($30 value) and a dessert ($10). In my book that adds up to $102. In addition the salads at $11 each were just some greens, shaved carrots and baby tomatoes - horribly over priced to begin with - and to be frank with a pretty lousy vinagrete. There was a choice of two apps (both cheap ones), no choice on the salads, choice of 5 entrees (cheap ones - salmon, crusted whitefish, roasted chicken and one was a BURGER), two choices on the dessert but one they ran out of so we got a very dry brownie instead. In addition, the waitstaff seemed "glum" - did they expect us to be cheap or something? A huge disappointment and not a way to gain customers.
Roy's never disappoints. The butterfish was exceptional. The restaurant was unusually quiet for a Friday night - albeit we had a late seating. We dined via a restaurant special whereby the entrees were half priced with the purchase of a bottle of wine - therefore the value was outstanding. Our server, Beth, was attentive and pleasant. The ambiance at Roy's was very nice, and the surrounding area is very safe and upscale. I was surprised that valet parking was $9 (it used to be complimentary). Although we both had butterfish, all the menu items appeared very appealing. I've eaten here several times and the meals have always been delicious. Highly recommend.
Went for date night using a Travelzoo 4-course meal deal offered for a limited time by Roy's.
Service (by our waiter, Justin) was top-notch. He was attentive, accommodating, informative, and friendly.
The food was fantastic! Each course was served in a timely fashion.
We sat inside at a table by the window, opposite a large work party. What might have been a normally quiet table wasn't very quiet because of the party. Despite that, it was an enjoyable dinner.
We opted to have dessert at their outside seating area. It's a great view of the round-about road where the cars flow, and there's plenty of people watching for entertainment.
