Roy's Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
I've been twice. Once with a friend for happy hour and once with my children for a late lunch. The food is great. The apps and drinks at happy hour were amazing and the happy hour prices were reasonable. I really appreciate that the kids menu is sophisticated as my children have very expensive taste, but $12.95 is a bid much for a set kids menu price. If I had children who only ate chicken nuggets or pasta, I would not have happily paid that price for a kids meal. My son got the braised beef ribs and it was excellent. Will certainly return.
Was there for restaurant week. The pork tenderloin was amazing, and the shrimp and scallops were good, and were reasonably priced for the 3 course special. That said, if the normal menu prices for these items was way too high to justify the quality and substance of the dishes. The waiter took until the appetizer was almost gone before bringing the wine we ordered with our food, and was had to get to the table when I came time to get our bill.
I came here for special first date in Maryland with my love. It was both of our first time at Roy's. My co worker recommended this restaurant. The food was DELICIOUS!! What made it even better is that we went during Baltimore restaurant week, so we got a 3-course meal for $35/pp. The server was very pleasant, attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable about the dishes being offered for restaurant week. The only opportunity I see for improvement is to brighten the overhead lights in the dining room. The lights being lowly lit makes for real strain on the eyes when reading the menu and just in general. Overall I had a wonderful first date in Maryland. I loved Roy's Restaurant and I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
I loved everything about Roy's Baltimore from the décor to the service to the servers to the ambiance to the food!!! I consider myself a 'foodie' and this was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long, long (did I say long) time! Kudos...and I will be back!!
I’ve been to the Roy’s in Hawaii and Baltimore a few times years ago and have fond memories of my experience, which is why I brought my parents here for New Years dinner. It was their first time and sadly I/we were disappointed. It’s very unfortunate, but I doubt I will be returning.
We were there for the New Year's prix-fixe menu this year, and it was fantastic! Roy's is always a great idea, and this time was no different. We did the tomahawk Ribeye, 34 oz , and it was amazing! We shared it between 2 people and we still couldn't finish it all! The 4 course menu put together by Chef Matt was very well composed and everything was very tasty! Service was impeccable yet very warm and friendly, Alfred was the best! We did the champagne toast at midnight and the location was just perfect to pop outside and see the fireworks. Overall we had a great time, and being from Hawaii and very familiar with the flagship location, we were very impressed and so very happy to spend the NYE holiday with a touch of home.
This was my second trip to Roy's, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. Our family had picked this location for my 27th birthday and also purchased some $20 off coupons from SAMs club prior to our meal. We were immediately seated and waited upon. Our table's appetizers (Mongolian Spare Ribs and a Caesar salad) were "delayed" by 10 minutes, which prompted our server to remove them from our bill. Our entrees were divine: the filet, the ribeye, the surf/turf, and the lobster trio risotto. For desert, we received one of the chocolate souffles complete with some birthday writing in chocolate. All in all, will definitely be returning!
Very good overall. We tried the tasting menu with a choice of 2 entrees, whitefish and osso bucco. They both were very well prepared with ample portion sizes. We didn’t care for the dessert which was a date cake. The salted caramel sauce served with it was too salty and it is more like a hard bread than cake. Each entree was $49 which we thought was very reasonable for Roy’s that tends to be quite pricey.
I was floored by the service I received at Roy's. I can't wait to take friends there. I dined there for Christmas 2017 and am thinking about making Christmas 2018 reservations for me and my daughter and son again. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable about pairing wine with the dinner menu items. Our server, David, was the greatest. He knew the menu and was very careful about not letting me touch my plate which wasn't too hot but he was extra cautious anyway. The ambiance was impeccable. This restaurant earned every star and then some.
Justin was a fantastic server! Food is elegantly displayed and a culinary delight. Valet parking ($9) makes it easy to get in/out of the restaurant. Apparently Sundays and Mondays are the right time to dine there because of the Prix Fixe menu. We will definitely be coming back again.
We chose Roy's for my husband's birthday dinner. I made a reservation in advance noting his birthday and that I am in a wheel-chair. Everything from the hostess to the end of dinner was perfect. Food was excellent all the way around. They brought my husband a complementary birthday dessert -- a scoop of very delicious ice cream with a chocolate souffle (and a lit birthday candle of course); plate had some raspberry glace on it and "Happy Birthday to XXX" was written in chocolate icing. Server was great and helpful. Manager came by and greeted us. All other staff members said hello and welcome when we arrived and hope to see you again soon when we left. Great experience. So good that we are returning with family on Christmas Day!
All lights along the windows flicker. Very distracting. They could not fix. Made apologies. Moved tables. Otherwise atmosphere was great.
Overall, the food was excellent 5/5. The miso soup was the only exception, very salty.
The lime tarts for dessert was exceptional.
Portions are smallish, but food is rich. Expensive, but knew this beforehand.
Have been there for Sunday brunch before. Exceptional but expensive.
6 of us went to Roys for an end of year dinner. We had a medical emergency at the table and had to call for an ambulance. The Staff at the restaurant was incredible. I received a call the next day inquiring about the person who required medical attention.
BTW while we only got through appetizers the food was great as was the service.
Decided to treat my mom for her birthday before a show at the Hippodrome. Valet was friendly. Just be sure not to show up before 5pm when service starts. The food and drinks were amazing. My mom felt special and was happy. Our waiter and the staff were a pleasure and helpful.
Our waiter made the evening. He was attentive, caring & met our every request. Most importantly he was kind & made us felt welcome. He also gave great suggestions when ordering.
The food was amazing from the lobster bisque to the 4 sampler.
And to top it off not only a special treat at the end but a photo of the special occasion. WOW! Now that is outstanding service & the competition isn't doing that.
We will definitely be back!!
Roys is always great. The food, ambiance, and service were excellent. I had the butterfish and my date had the macadamia nut mahi mahi. The scene was vibrant, but the noise level was such that we could have a normal conversation. Our server, Beth, was particularly attentive.
