Everything was delicious. Their curries are amazing. I highly recommend this place.
This was my second time coming here. I got the crispy shrimp, which was delicious. I also got a passion fruit mai tai and Thai fried rice with chicken and beef. I was disappointed the cost was different from the last time I went, but I just altered my order. The food here is really good.
The food is really spicy , take care.
Service was a little slow during lunch. Took server 15 Minutes to take my order after being seated. Food was served quickly after ordering! Food was delicious!
This is the best pad Thai in town! I frequently bring friends here and we’ve never had a bad experience. The service was excellent and it’s easier to have a conversation here than in most DC restaurants. Excellent all around.
I love Royal Thai. We've always been albe to get in pretty quickly, even with a large group. The service has been great and the food is generally fantastic. My husband and I had the crispy shrimp appetizer, which was not bad. Was expecting a bit more flavor from the sauce. However, the green curry pad thai was out of this world good! And everyone in our group enjoyed their meals also. Definitely check this place out.
Royal Thai is a favorite for my friends and I. Convenient meet up near Chinatown where the food and drinks are always good and the service is friendly and efficient.
Good service. Good food. Pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant! Great service and great food!
Wonderful Green Curry and Eggplant. Royal Thai is a gem.
Service was great and the Penang curry was yummy. Lots of choices for vegetarians (just ask no oyster/fish sauce). Nice ambience inside although you wouldn't necessarily know that from the outside. They also have a 50% off alcoholic drinks if you check in through yelp.
Another great visit to Royal Thai! Introduced my family to this great restaurant that always provides great service and excellent Thai food!
I’m a repeat customer & can always count on Royal Thai for great food at a very reasonable price both in their restaurant and at home with free delivery!
I have lived in Bangkok for two years so I know my Thai food. This was not Thai food. This was the typical American Thai food that you get. I noticed that most of the staff and presumably the owners are Thai so I was even more disappointed because they must know what real Thai food should be cooked like and taste like.
I should have suggested going elsewhere as soon as I walked in and smelled a strong chemical smell. Floor wax? Cleaning supplies? Pesticides? But my dining companions were already seated so I joined them, thinking I might be overly sensitive. Servers were pleasant and relatively attentive, but the food was just awful. The crispy chicken (one of the house specialties) was essentially a bowlful of small pieces of fried batter — maybe there was chicken inside, but it was barely noticeable. The house special seafood was just mediocre. All in all a very disappointing meal.
This is a great place for lunch. The food is excellent, the service is fabulous and did I mention the food is great? I frequently meet friends here for lunch. We can have a nice meal for two for $25 (including Thai iced tea) with excellent, unobtrusive service and a nice ambience. It's quiet enough to have a conversation without shouting and the staff are friendly. I especially like the Wonsoon noodles with chicken and the mango chicken, but they have a wide array of vegetarian meals as well.
Good food, good service but small tables, large plates.........................
The food was excellent. We had the penang curry, and green curry pad thai.
This restaurant is like a hidden gem. The entrance looks small but they have a lot of space on the second floor. We got our own private room for a group of 20 and had a wonderful time. The staff are super friendly and very nice. Food is very good with reasonable prices. Highly recommend this place!
My husband felt like Thai for a late night dinner when visiting Washington D.C. We found Royal Thai by the reviews but food didn't quite live up to the better reviews. Tom Kha soup had good flavor as did the Chicken Satay but the Spring Rolls and Pad Thai were very bland.
This was our second visit to Royal Thai. We live an hour away from D.C. and our first visit came before a Caps' game. When we knew we were returning to D.C. this weekend, even though it would be out of the way and a time squeeze, we knew that we wanted to return. Our very favorable recollection of the deliciousness of the food was definitely confirmed. We enjoyed the veggie spring rolls, fried green beans, and other delicious dishes that I can't spell :). My husband and I agreed we'd probably drive to D.C. just to come here.
Quick and yummy
The best Thai food I've tasted in a long time. I had the mixed vegetables with chicken: totally delicious and healthy! The Waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. I can't wait to visit again.
Royal Thai was able to accommodate our work happy hour very nicely! The flow of apps and drinks for our large party was great and we didn't have to pay upfront for a pre-fixed menu, etc.
Highly recommend the space upstairs for work type happy hour events of 15 ish people.
They seem to be cutting corners. I felt like my lunch was left over from the day before. They need to step up their game and make things fresh.
Good choice if you are in the Gallery Place area
Great food reasonable prices
Nice lunch spot. Quick.
Loved it! Portions well worth it! Great atmosphere!
Very nice little place with excellent food. Service and ambiance are a little bit below averqge though.
Restaurant was a bit cold on the 2nd floor, even with a space heater on, but the food is fantastic.
Ambience is good. Food is above average . Tried the green chicken curry and it was really good.
Food was terrible. The broccoli looked and tasted old. My wife's pad Thai had a strange aroma to it. Food sizes are generous, but I wouldn't want to eat everything on the plate. Staff were rude and we're visibly unimpressed that we didn't order drinks. If you have ever eaten Thai food before you will be very underwhelmed by the food here.
This was my first visit and Thai food is one of my favorite types so I was ready for a great meal since this is in DC's "Chinatown" area with a lot of different Asian restaurants. While it has a very diverse menu, my "go to" appetizer, the spicy beef salad (Nam Tok) was very disappointing here - dried out meat and barely any marinade. We left about a third of it. The Duck Rolls were great, though, like a Peking Duck burrito. The main courses were average but not very spicy at all and we were not asked how we wanted it, nor was an additional chili sauce made available. The broccoli in my lemongrass chicken was barely cooked and so hard to chew. The service was really why I downgraded this review. The waitress brought our main courses while we were only half-way through appetizers and we were on a small "two top" table, so there was really no room for everything. She ended up taking away our water just to have room for the plates. Then she gave no spoons to serve up the main courses or get any sauce. It was 15 minutes before I could get another server to bring spoons and by then the dishes were cold. I won't be back!
Dropped in after a lecture on Southeast Asian archeology at the Smithsonian. Was disappointed that my favorite appetizer -- Nham Sod (spicy minced pork) -- wasn't on the menu but enjoyed the papaya salad. Followed that with the pork version of the spicy rice. She got the spicy mango shrimp salad and Drunken Noodles. The latter had too much Thai basil in it, but otherwise everything was very tasty. We may return to Royal Thai for a late dinner.
AMA ing food. Great device. Highly recommended.
The table size is way too small for 2 people for dinner. Besides the table top surface was not at level. You have to ask for spoon or knife. They only give you fork. Hard to cut vegetable with fork. Good food. Excellent choice for vegetarians. My wife and I loved the food and the nice service. Noise level was way too high because of loud conversations in an adjacent table. Not much space between tables.
Enjoyed the food it was well seasoned
It was nice to walk in and see my reserved table ready and waiting. The food was good, good sized portions and helpful staff. Will be returning.
