Royal Thai Cuisine & Bar
We are the best choice for Thai food enthusiasts, so we hope all our customers will enjoy our foods!
All of our menu selections offer nothing but the most authentic traditional Thai cooking. Every dish is prepared fresh from the best ingredients, for a rich and flavorful serving.
Our goal is to be the best cuisine in town with most authentic traditional Thai, while encorporating modern riffs using local fresh ingredients and Thai sensibilities. We also offer a seasonal selection that we create monthly. Besides delighting the discerning palate, our kitchen takes pride in sophisticated presentation.
Lastly, our staff is eager to make your time with us a wonderful experience.
The food was too sweet and there was no flavored distinction between the dishes that we ordered. Will not eat there again nor recommend it. Actually told our family and friends NOT to eat there.
Came with a large group- took a while to be seated, and order was wrong many times, some people didn't get their drink until we were done eating, some people didn't get their food until 30 minutes after others at the table. Wait staff did nothing to apologize or take anything off the bill even with all the errors. wouldn't recommend to a large group- maybe it is better for a smaller group of people.
Good food and dinner has a happy hour every day. Can get a Singha beer for $2.50 at happy hour with an entree. Even on the weekends!
Will definitely be coming back. The location wasn’t ideal but it is in Chinatown.
Servers weren’t that attentive but the food was great. No one in my party of 8 complained and plates were clean!
Being made to wait 30 minutes for a table already reserved on open table was the beginning of the ordeal. The orders were never fully filled, the waiters spoke no English, the seating was cramped, and the food was so so. Never again.
They have many yummy vegan options and great curry. We also took advantage of their happy hour drink prices (1/2 off from 5-7 daily).
Very slow service. The Pad Thai was not very authentic- no peanuts, no lime, no flavor. I asked for spicy- they gave it bland.
I'd recommend Royal Thai to anyone and everyone! Great food, a nice location, and a very friendly and helpful staff. I will be back!
Royal Thai consistently provides a great, authentic meal, w a smile, and they make every effort to ensure that I have a positive experience. After many visits, I’ve never had a bad meal, or service.
The food is not tasty and green curry was watered down, it didn't even taste flavorful or aromatic as it should be. The portions were also not that much compared to a traditional Thai place. However, the service and our waiter were nice and attentive.
Great food. Flavors are a true reflection of Thailand. Authentic.
The service was slow and the kitchen was backed up. They were clearly understaffed. The royal seafood soup has good flavor but not much seafood for $6.99. The spicy royal duck was not spicy and may not have been all duck.
Fantastic! Loved the setting in an old brownstone.
I ordered my favorite Thai dishes that I almost always get. The preparation here was sub par in flavor.
We went with a large group of people — they were able to accommodate us all, and still brought our food out fairly quickly! The food was wonderful.
Good food. Service was so-so
Wow I had the Royal Noodle. Off the hook good. Great and friendly service with beautiful smiles
Food was typical Thai food and very good. Extremely noisy. Did not see access for people with mobility problems.
Overall, it was a so-so experience. We enjoyed the food but I had the Pineapple fried rice that was supposedly shrimp and chicken but had 2 shrimp with tails still on so I had to dig the shrimp out of its tails - I hate that. Let’s talk about the hot tea... don’t order it, just stick with water only! The hot tea was a small cup of hot water with a tea bag sitting in it - $3! No refill. I asked for Lemon when I ordered it. No lemon came with it. I asked again. She brought me lime wedges. So, now I have a cup of barely flavored grocery store brand tea water, no lemon and they still charged me $3. I did something I never do - I took it out of the tip. Server should have checked on the lemon first and let me know that they didn’t have any - how a bar doesn’t have any Lemon is also a question for me. Doesn’t matter because there are plenty of other restaurants in the area. We won’t be back. Oh, and then they reported me as a “no show” to Open Table... sort wish I had been now!
Delicious and food was fresh tasted great
Our meal was overall very good though the experience was slightly marred by our server's liability to describe contents of dishes when asked and the small pour of wine by the glass.
Polite and attentive staff greeted and served us throughout the experience! Excellent value at happy hour on 50% off drinks! Delicious Thai cuisine, presented well and in a timely manner... I'll be back!
The food was excellent! Very authentic Thai food. The service was very attentive. The atmosphere is very cosy and perfect for dates or 1:1 dining.
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff, delicious food
a small, easily overlooked restaurant which serves good food in a friendly atmosphere. we chose it because we like Thai food, and is close to where we were going to see a play. other local places were booked up, so we took a choice and weren't disappointed. the restaurant isn't at all stylish, but good enough for ordinary dining.
A favorite eatery in DC Chinatown! We have been to Royal Thai many times. Very consistently good food and staff. Their happy hour is a great value. Love the lemongrass martnini with an order of chive dumpling. Luscious curries, delicious seafood dishes. Carnivores will be happy too! Easy walk to Gallery place metro and Verizon center.
Great drink specials, ample food, and super friendly staff! We would absolutely go back next time we are in the area
Washington Capitals pre playoff meal
We love Royal Thai, and whenever we're in the area we make sure to visit. The food is delicious! We always have wonderful service...though we've never been there when it is super busy. Our party of four had the pad thai, drunken noodles, spicy rice, spring rolls and yummy tempura green beans. Love this place
While everything was ok, there was only 1 waiter at lunch!!!!
Food presentation was lovely as was the service. Every dish ordered got high marks, from the chicken satay, green curry, sautéed eggplant, spicy beef salad, and more were ALL exceptionally executed. Will be back very soon!
The only criticism I have is that it took the waitress a while to get to our table... everything else was great!
Everything was delicious. Their curries are amazing. I highly recommend this place.
This was my second time coming here. I got the crispy shrimp, which was delicious. I also got a passion fruit mai tai and Thai fried rice with chicken and beef. I was disappointed the cost was different from the last time I went, but I just altered my order. The food here is really good.
The food is really spicy , take care.
Service was a little slow during lunch. Took server 15 Minutes to take my order after being seated. Food was served quickly after ordering! Food was delicious!
This is the best pad Thai in town! I frequently bring friends here and we’ve never had a bad experience. The service was excellent and it’s easier to have a conversation here than in most DC restaurants. Excellent all around.
I love Royal Thai. We've always been albe to get in pretty quickly, even with a large group. The service has been great and the food is generally fantastic. My husband and I had the crispy shrimp appetizer, which was not bad. Was expecting a bit more flavor from the sauce. However, the green curry pad thai was out of this world good! And everyone in our group enjoyed their meals also. Definitely check this place out.
