Royal Coach Dining Room - Chateau Louis Hotel & Conference Centre
We believe that meals should be enjoyed and not rushed. Good food takes time to properly prepare and we will endeavour to make every meal memorable.
Executive Chef Lorne Soles
We enjoyed our dinner. Husband and I decided to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary with a night out at the buffet, which had good food.
We were told the dress was business casual, but clearly no one else got the memo, as there were plenty of shorts and t-shirts there.
The waitstaff was good. It was difficult to get a drink refill, but the water never stopped coming.
The decor is very dated. The whole building looks pretty dated.
But the atmosphere was enjoyable. It was a quiet restaurant, so good for conversation.
We left very full and satisfied.
Great food, great service, especially for Mother’s Day. My mother in law was thoroughly impressed. Our server, Tracy, went above and beyond and was exceptional. This was my first time dining here, and I will absolutely be back! Thanks for making mother’s day dinner stress free!!
disappointed, thought for that price it would have a carving station. place was nuts they increased the tables and did not increase the size of the buffet, took half an hour to even get to the food. Cold seafood was not very good, too much herbs. not a very good variety that last time we were there for the gluten free buffet it was great, not sure what happened
Attended this restaurant for their Mother's Day brunch. The food was good but they have to do a better job at booking times to not cause a huge line up to get to the buffet table. If they could stagger the times that people came in then we would not have had to stand in line for the better part of 15 mins to eat. My plan for my mother was not to have her stand in line on her day. The layout could also have been improved for perhaps two lines down the buffet table. The food was good and none of the items ran out without being refilled quickly, the omelet station was good with little to no line up. The service was just standard as I assume they now had to wait on all the people that just kept coming in they had to push the existing customers down the priority list. Not sure if I would come back for the buffet again.
Small selection for Mother's Day brunch, but plentiful and excellent quality. Fresh food was being brought out constantly.
The freshness and flavour of everything was superb. My daughter is celiac and the huge selection of food available to her was great and great tasting. The service was attentive and pleasant. The price was reasonable. We will go again and have already recommended it to friends and family.
The experience starts when you drive up to the Chateau Louis, beautiful style and very unique for Edmonton. We arrived 30 mins before our reservation and we were seated immediately. Our only issue with our visit was we werent offered a choice of buffet or menu, so we were pigion holed into the buffet. The food was not bad but nothing special, better buffet options in Edmonton
The Royal Coach Dining Room is absolutely the best GLUTEN FREE BUFFET in Edmonton. Their Buttermilk Fried Chicken is to die for and worth making the effort to call for a reservation. The rest of the food is also very good / great even when they are not serving the chicken especially their prime rib. The majority of the desserts are amazing. We hit that restaurant absolutely every time they offer that chicken because I'm Celiac.
We enjoyed ourselves very much!
We found alot of the food trays were almost empty when we went up to get our food.
Would be nice to see these trays kept filled.
We liked the old world atmosphere and the great assortment of food. There was something to tempt everyones' palate. We would definitely return to enjoy your hospitality again.
The service is very professional, and the gluten free buffet is such a treat for celiac me, and not a sacrifice for my glutenous family. And for such a fair price! I’m so grateful that this buffet exists and I encourage you to give it a try so the hotel has reason to keep it running!
Food was good. Enjoyed the omelets and variety on the buffet sausage could have been cooked a little more. Server was great coffee juice was always offered 😊
If you want a quiet evening (as in the whole place to yourself), this is the place. We dined here on Sunday evening and was one of two tables in the entire evening. Although the art and decor certainly matches the name of the establishment, it looks quite dated. Service was a bit lacking as there was one server for the dining room and the piano bar, and often times, she was in the kitchen. However, she was friendly and quick when we needed something. The food was generally great but the portion size was mixed. There was only a dozen or less super thin calamari rings for the appetizer and only five stuffed mushrooms, which is an odd number for sharing while the portion size of the main dishes were appropriately sized.
The food and service was beyond expectation except that the buffet tables looked like a flock of vultures had been there before us. The pans were all empty and it took ten minutes for them to refill them. Perhaps it was because one table of guests seemed to be filling shopping bags with food. We took four guests with us and were embarrassed to have them stand and wait for their main course. The food was delicious, what there was of it.
The variety was quite good but the food was not very warm in the trays. The lamb was more like "burger" than lamb pieces; enjoyed the rosotto, salads, shrimp, croissants and desserts for sure! Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Poached eggs were tasty but not very hot as well as the potatoes - tasty but not very hot.
The service and food were the highlight of our meal. So inexpensive, too! We went for my husband's birthday because I'm celiac, and he always is apologetic for enjoying food that I can't eat. Haha. So it was win/win because he enjoyed the food and I could have whatever I wanted! The pavlova was my favourite (SO delish with the custard and fresh fruit) and he really enjoyed the tried-and-true prime rib with gravy and mashed potatoes. THANK YOU for making this GF!
I always feel so pampered and taken care of here. We went for the Sunday brunch buffet and it did not disappoint. There is a choice for everyone and the custom omelette and waffle stations just make it over the top. There were 2 or 3 large groups and still we could hear each other and talk, it never felt loud or over-crowded. The staff made you feel at home and were very approachable. The price is a little high for an every weekend place, but for a special occasion or a well-deserved treat, I highly recommend it. Fantastic experience.
We overall had a good experience here. It was out very 1st time going based off of good reviews we’ve read online. We only booked 30 minutes prior to our arrival time on OpenTable but it wasn’t really necessary. It was quiet for a Saturday night buffet. There was a decent selection of food to choose from. Both my husband and I especially liked the calamari and the selection of desserts. It was a bit of a shame that our first slices of prime rib were to our liking (medium-rare) but when we came back and asked for the same, it was more like medium. The service was great though. It was my birthday and I wasn’t expecting the waitresses to sing Happy Birthday to me with a nice chocolate dessert/fruit that read “Happy Birthday” in white chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised. The price was a little high from other prime rib buffets I’ve been to. We would go back one day...just not sometime soon as it was quite a drive for us since we live far away.
I booked this restaurant for a small dinner meeting for a non profit Board. Right from the beginning the staff were on top of things, answering all my questions when I called to confirm. They also checked with me the day before our event. The food was excellent and all the dietary needs of our diverse group were easily met. The prices were reasonable and the service was good.
We have been coming to the Royal Coach Dining Room for Ukrainian Christmas Eve celebrations for more than 15 years. The food and service is always good and the Carolers add a special touch to the occasion. This year the food was outstanding, as was the service; this was by far the best overall experience we have had for this special occasion.
We will definitely ge back!
Amazing...best Chef’s in town & great service. This is our whole family’s favourite place to eat.
Lovely gluten-free buffet, as always! Chef Lorne and his team consistently prepare high quality, fresh fare. The service staff is attentive and friendly. Royal Coach is one of our local favorites
We chose this restaurant for the certified gluten-free buffet for a family Christmas dinner. Every single thing tasted amazing! The staff were great and we hope to make this an annual Christmas tradition.
The Royal Coach Dining Room's buffets (the gluten free prime rib buffet this past Saturday and the French buffet a week ago Friday) are sterling examples of what a restaurant can do when it commits to great food for everybody, regardless of dietary restrictions. The gluten-free dessert selection, all made in house, is amazing, and you'd never know that they are gluten free. They are fabulous and delicious. As is everything else on the buffet. Thanks to Chef Lorne and his staff for taking gluten-free dining to a new level.
Service was terrible. We were seated for at least 10 minutes before we had to request service. We were then informed that there was a buffet offered and then we were told it was 23.99 but when those who had the buffet went to pay it was suddenly 26.99. It was far from worth 26.99. We were not offered menus and had to ask for them. This had been our original plan and were prepared in advance as to what we wished to order given we were on a lunch hour. For those who had the buffet, there were no refills for coffee or soft drinks.
The food, service and ambience was great. We really enjoyed everything.
Gluten free dinner buffet on Saturday evenings. It’s great to not have to worry about what my son (9) chooses!
Food was good. Service on the other hand was less than stellar. May have been a fluke. Will probably try it again another time.
Good food, quiet atmosphere, good service, friendly staff, gluten free Saturday buffet
I have been twice now to the Saturday gluten free buffet and both times was very impressed by the service but very disappointed with the food. Both times the soup was watery, the lettuce was obviously ‘bagged’ lettuce as it had a plastic taste, the cheese tray was non-existent (literally zero on the tray and was not refreshed), the pickled beans etc. were questionable looking, there were very few sides (this time it was only mashed potato, mixed vegetables or green salad (if you could call it that - there were no cucumbers, onion or tomatoes available to even put into salad), the snapper tasted very fishy and the chicken rice dish was dried out and chewy. On the plus side the prime rib was very good and the gluten free carrot cake was excellent. Despite the excellent service, overall this was not a good value for the money - for four of us to eat it was over $200 (which included just three alcoholic beverages). In comparison, for $50 per person I can go to The Keg or Continental Treat and have a delicious meal with wine and dessert with full service and without the buffet cafeteria ‘experience’. As a celiac I am really disappointed to have one less option for dining out.
If you want to go for a Gluten Free buffet and not worry about anything at all, then go here. Even the multiple desserts!
Severe Celiac friends have also eaten here with no issues.
Kudos to Tracy our waitress. She was very pleasant as well as well versed on the buffet. It was a very nice outing with our out of town friends.
The roast beef was incredible. It's finally nice to find a chef that can carve the roast the way you want. Plus the ceaser dressing was awesome. Desserts could be better.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday. They had everything ready. Food was amazing. Presentation and taste was 10 out of 10. The Chef came and personally greeted us. They were very accommodating of the two kids we had. Server was super helpful and friendly. We ll come back for sure. The atmosphere is very classy and classic. Live music matched the theme of the food being featured. Thank you so much.
The food was good with lots of options at the buffet. Good seafood selection. The kids loved the waffles. You can tell it is an older restaurant from the decor, but it was great for a larger group (there was 10 of us). The value was good as well, it was $32 for an adult and 8 for kids under 12.
This is an awesome place for anyone who has Celiac as their Sat night Buffet is all Gluten Free and the food is excellent. Very friendly staff as well they are very attentive.
Went for mothers day brunch. Food was decent and varied. Good mix of hot and cold items, both breakfast and lunch options. I do find they over do the meals with the lunch options, therefore bring able to charge a premium for the meal. Which leads to the price, very overpriced. A better option, focus on breakfast and an evening buffet, and charge accordingly.
We brought our granddaughters, and they thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday Brunch.
I was disappointed with the little choices in salads, seafood was not existant and they started to remove the buffet at around 9 pm when it is suppose to be open until 10 pm.
The food was very tasty and was kept very warm.
The service was very good and attentive.
Gluten free buffet was awesome! Our son loves this place.
Our first visit and we shall return. Nothing in Sherwood Park is comparable. The staff were efficient and courteous and were very engaging in conversation, information and service. I will recommend the facility to friends and relatives.
