The ravioli was amazing
Food was fabulous. I really enjoyed and highly recommend the chicken marsala. My sister and I split and salad and entre and we were very satisfied!
WOW! I was initially worried when I looked at the menu and the prices. The food was simple, but spectacular. The quality of food was definitely worth the price. Fresh, clean ingredients. I had the seafood pasta, and the quality of seafood was beyond my expectations. Plus the pasta is handmade and it made all the difference. The service was also excellent. This place is not pretentious at all, and our server was both casual and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place and will be returning when I get the chance.
Us locals love Roy's! Never disappointed with the quality of the food, presentation and the service.
Local ingredients in unique and tasty combinations. Roy is consistently creative and delicious!
Roy really knows how to cook. Hand made pasta with fillet mignon meatballs were excellent. Best pasta and meatballs you will find.
Roy never fails! The staff was very friendly and took care of us! The food was mouth watering, so good! Everything was perfect & made the best first impression for my boyfriend, this is definitely going to be out new go to spot!
it had been years since we have been to Roy's so it was fun to return. It has a great atmosphere and though known for late night dining we were there early as we were attending a play at the New Vic following dinner. Our server was nice and allowed us to relax over wine without any pressure to order our meal. I ordered the special (prime rib) but found it not as special as hoped. It was a bit overdone (not a true medium rare as ordered) and it may have sat too long on the line, as it was not piping hot once it arrived at the table.....The pasta dish my husband ordered was really good. Hoping to come again, as we know it is a hidden gem in Santa Barbara,
Carefully prepared food, great art, good music, great value.
Enjoyed our dinner - have been to Roy before and usually always good. We were disappointed when we checked the menu on Open Table when we made the reservation - it had very little of what was actually presented - need to update that! For was still good but not the choices we expected.
Otherwise, nice dinner experience.
Really excellent food for me and my date. Atmosphere is unique too. I’ve been when live bands were there and it was enjoyable. I suggest they use filtered drinking water instead of tap although there was a lemon slice which helps.
Roy never disappoints! The food and cocktails are always good. Very romantic atmosphere!
The best part is the warm honey whole wheat bread. The service was top notch! Had the seafood pasta. Food was good but not fantastic.
Excellent food. The Chef was on point. We had a great dinner!
Comfortable, friendly, great and creative cuisine and presentation.
Thanksgiving dinner was terrible. Our cooked carrots were raw, mashed potatoes were COLD and tasted funny. No one finished their plate. Dessert was good with a funky sauce.
Way overpriced. I had been coming for years off and on.
This makes me so sad. I loved coming here. Santa Barbara ‘s hidden gem is how I used to describe Roy’s.
I believe Roy’ regular crew was absent. Thank you.
It is a wondereful restaurant -- I always enjoy going there.
OpenTable pictures really over-sell Roy. It's not nearly as clean, hip or "cool" as you would be led to believe. Food is fair, but presentation is barely above a Golden Corral. Service was lousy. Quiet midweek, 6pm and only one guy was handling 6 tables plus bartending. Basically he took orders and delivered plates but never had time to check on anyone. Probably a cool spot 10 or 20 years ago but now it's just run down and struggling. I was offended by how small the salmon serving was for the price. 3oz at best. Overall a total fail with so many other better choices nearby.
The menu was very odd and lacked variety, we walked out after a glass of wine as nothing looked very good. In addition they insisted over our objections on placing my wife and I at a very small table even though the place was nearly empty and remained so. Just a weird experience.
We are new to SB; just visiting. We had a perfect meal here. Two main courses; one desert; a bottle of wine: a margarita and a beer = $122. The food was great. Freshly prepared and well judged. We might even go back tomorrow. Live jazz to (but not every night).
We love Roy for the great atmosphere and wonderful food and often excellent art on the walls.
As usual the food was very good and reasonable. We always like the consistency of the quality of the food and service. Also, the prices are very fair, especially for Santa Barbara!!
Wonderful experience in private room for our group of 15. Roy personally called me to confirm he could reserve the room. He shops daily so menu changes daily. I had seafood pasta, (homemade) yummy broth and perfectly cooked seafood. Highly recommended.
I used to come to this spot 15 years ago when I was attending UCSB because it was the only late night option in town besides Denny's. Always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I recently went back on a weekend trip down to Santa Barbara and it has definitely held up! The food remains amazing and the atmosphere is great. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The most difficult part is choosing what to eat! Began with the delightful Caprese Salad with huge, lovely heirloom tomato slices. The homemade pasta with filet mignon meatballs was fabulous! Altho, the Creme Brulee was nothing exciting, served plain, no frills.
Excellent, liked the art show of Andy Proctor too!
Consistently, an exceptional meal. We always enjoy this gem of a restaurant right in the heart of downtown!
Always fresh produce from our local farmers market. You can tell the difference.
Great evening at n a nice environment
We love coming to Roy, its one of our favorite places to eat.
While the food was good, the atmosphere was pretty stark. And there was no one else eating at 7 PM. Maybe it gets more crowded late at night or on weekends
I had originally reserved a table for 8-10 people, however our number rose to 11 people. Every time I called the restaurant to change something they were very accommodating and pleasant.
They had a back room for us, however we were celebrating a birthday & we wanted to be in their main room...they made it happen. They food, as always, was good; the service exceptional. In the end they even gave us individual taps; our group eats out often, so I assured then they wood get a good tip.
All menu items are home made with excellent flavors. Server was not knowledgeable about menu items, however, we were there just as the restaurant opened so he might not have had time to talk to the kitchen.
Post Solstice party.. place was packed. Servers did an amazing job of serving record breaking crowd with great live band playing. Super fun.
Food always perfect, even when slammed with customers.
Roy does a great job.
Great restaurant for hanging out with friends. We were happy to try this out upon our visit to California
Their made in house wheat bread is amazing!!! And
Very cool place. Retro interior with modern art on display. Window overlooks Carrillo Blvd. Staff are super-nice. Really good food: soup, salad, main course.
We love Roy, it is always one of our favorite places in Santa Barbara for dinner. Reasonably priced food and a menu that changes regularly featuring the finest local ingredients never
Odd atmosphere. Late opening at 6 pm. Even then, they weren't ready to serve as the chef was still shopping at the farmers market. Food was good but overpriced.
We went for New Years as it was one of the few places we could get a reservation. We were basically forgotten once we were seated. It was so bad that a kind gentleman next to us, who was a patron, felt bad and asked us what we wanted to drink and then proceeded to get up mid meal to go to the bar to order us drinks. The food took over an hour to come out, even though it was a set menu, prime rib...a dish that should already be prepared. When I received my meal it was A - cold and B - Overcooked. It appeared that the kitchen had attempted to reheat the piece of meat by putting it on the grill...as evidenced by the grill marks on the prime rib. It wasn't good. None of it. There was live music. That was a plus. We left before midnight and rang in the new year elsewhere.
