Roxanne Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The Italian restaurant at our hotel was booked up until 8:30PM and we were looking for a place around 6:30 after having enjoyed a sunset cocktail at CityScape atop the Hilton. At the Sir Francis Drake wine reception we searched OpenTable for another Italian restaurant nearby and found Roxanne Cafe just at the end of the next block. We made our reservations and were able to get in with no problem. This place seems less than 30 people so it is cozy. We had a nice window seat and enjoyed a relaxing meal with great service.
In SF to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We chose Roxanne Cafe due to close proximity to our hotel and it was perfect. We were seated in a cozy area in the back and had a fantastic server. Janet brought the food and beverages promptly, but allowed time for us to soak in the fantastic ambiance of this unique establishment. We will go here again when we return.
We decided to try this place because the reviews all stated the food was good. We should have listened to the reviews that stated the issues with reservations. We made reservations on Open Table and showed up at the correct time jus to be questioned by a worker as to why we were there and how we made reservations. We answered all of her snarky questions just to be told that they were closed for a party. It would have been fine if they had apologized for the mistake but to be asked several questions in a very rude tone just made me angry. I have no idea how the food is but service isn't great. If you decide to go here call ahead first and make sure that they are actually open. Also when I tried to make new reservations on Open table I wasn't allowed to because I had reservations here. I tried to cancel them and it wouldn't let me do then I couldn't make a new one. That was just annoying. At least let me cancel the reservations that you won't honor so I can make new ones.
I had the chicken Zorba salad-absolutely excellent. My husband had the chicken parmesan with spaghetti and says it's one of the best meals he's eaten on this vacation. Very friendly staff, excellent food, good pricing for downtown, and if we were here longer we would definitely be coming back!
Unfortunately, we had a very poor service experience. It started out with our reservation being overbooked when the manager decided to accept so many walk-ins that deemed dining time meaningless. We waited well over 45-minutes to be seated. Once seated we waited for what seemed an eternity until we decided to leave. Very poor service skills with no attempts to apologize or explain the cause. Many other patrons left for the same reasons.
Was looking for a neighborhood Italian restaurant and referred to Roxanne's. Food quality was average but worthy of a second visit. Prices were okay it is a city restaurant. Staff was attentive but missed on my friends dinner. French Fries were served instead of a salad? I had spaghetti and meatballs. Spaghetti was cooked perfectly, sauce was good, meatballs a bit to much garlic but not a disqualifier. (Garlic is always a matter of opinion). Bread served with dinner was not very special. Roxanne's is on a quiet corner steps from cable car stop at Bush and Powell. Should have been busy, it wasn't.
We were in SF to attend a concert a few blocks away and walked to the cafe. My wife had the lobster ravioli, which was very good. I had the stuffed pork loin, which was tasty, though overlooked. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate?
I was visiting the city for a business conference. The restaurant decor was eclectic and fun. The cable car runs right by the restaurant, and there are plenty of windows for great people watching. The menu looked to be perfect for both my dining partner and myself. I was craving gnocchi. While they had it on the menu, I would only give it a good, not great rating. However, my dining partner had the shrimp scampi and gorgonzola salad and was very pleased. The service was very attentive and the noise level was perfect for good conversation. Overall, it was a very pleasant meal.
My husband and I had breakfast here. We've eaten here before and enjoyed it. This time it wasn't as crowded as last time which was nice. It is a casual but cute restaurant. Food was good and service was pleasant and fast. It's conveniently located near union square.
Convenient location and nearly empty on Valentine's Day while we were unable to get in elsewhere, Roxanne Cafe delivered a meal that was good (not great, but certainly nothing wrong with it) and service that was casual and friendly in an unremarkable ambiance (the place is clean and in good condition; however, there was nothing particularly special about it). This was my first visit and since I am in the area often (and need a quick, casual, $15-25 per plate kinda place), I will do it again.
I came here with my family on a busy night. There were only 2 servers on the floor. Our sever took our order and 45 minutes later I asked her how much longer and she rudely responded " we're working on it." Keep in mind she not once apologized for the delay or explained why our food was taking so long. Then a few minutes later, we saw one of the chefs leave the restaurant, he came back 20 minutes later with lettuce. I serve for a living too, soI understand that some nights can be a little off, but our server didn't even communicate ANYTHING tous and she was rude! Then she has the nerve to add gratuity to the check. We waited over an hour for dinner and had to deal with a miserable server. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This restaurant was surprisingly open on Christmas day so we were happy about that . It's a cute little place in a good location . The food was ok , not really bad but not really special . The service was efficient and polite . I would recommend this restaurant for a quick bite if you are not feeling too demanding and are in the area .
We've been here before. For us, it's a convenient location, just two blocks from our condo we sometimes use in the city. The food is always excellent, the wine prices are very appropriate, and the service is always excellent. Did I say that we like the place?
Roxanne's was barely half full when we arrived, and we were shown to a cramped table. The wait staff didn't seem to care that we had a reservation. They must consider themselves a breakfast place as we were handed only breakfast menus at just before noon. That might have been a better choice since the kitchen doesn't know how to fry or saute or make a good salad. Our calamari appetizer was rubbery and the breading was barely browned. A "roquefort" salad was delivered with no cheese on it, and the added steak portion was huge but undercooked and tasted steamed, not grilled or pan-sauteed. The wait staff was friendly when flagged down but otherwise unattentive. Don't waste your time here, you can do better
