My wife and I joined another couple for an early dinner(6:30) on Saturday, 5 January, to usher in the new year with a dinner at Rox. Once again, we were not disappointed! Three of us had the filet and one, lobster. the steaks were "fork cuttable" tender with wonderful taste and done as requested. (The only thing I might mention is a bit more asparagus would have been nice. Thanks for another nice night at Rox and the great service from the bar. Thanks, Joe!
We had a great time. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Such a fun, cozy place to have drinks and dinner. Beautiful setting in the historic Hotel Baker. The service was great. Our server and bartender was wonderful and friendly. It’s a little pricey but great for a special occasion.
The food is great but not inexpensive. On Tuesday's they are rather slow so its an opportunity to have a nice quiet dinner and enjoy the conversation. Weekends are much noisier. And they left some of my food out of my doggie bag but it is still one of our favorite places to go. We try to go every month or two.
We had an awesome time. The food was grown and and the service was outstanding.
Great atmosphere for friends or a couple listening to fantastic music. Service and dinner was cooked to perfection. Music was little loud for such a small area to carry on a conversation with friends.
Excellent food. Slow service not the servers fault need to hire more servers
Cozy, quiet atmosphere, with delectable menu selections.
Had dinner at Roxy's before going to the Arcada for a concert. You can't beat the Baker Hotel in general as it is a major "anchor" in St. Charles. Had never had dinner at Roxy's. The food, drinks and service were excellent. We had appetizers and probably would go back just to do appetizers for dinner some time. We both had fish and they were both excellent in their own way. The menu has something for everyone.
Our Server was very nice, efficient and not hovering which was really nice. Our only complaint would be to turn the lighting down a little for more atmosphere. They were even nice enough to hold our leftovers till we came back from the concert.
Great place and will be going back there again.
Pleasant ambiance and terrific bartender, but the service and food were disappointing. Our twenty-something server insisted on calling us "my darlings," forgot to clear our table between courses, and didn't refill our water glasses. The food suffered from gloppy plating and sweetness, both the charcuterie platter and entrees. The meats and cheeses were doused with balsamic vinegar and surrounded with jams. Although the halibut and short rib were tasty, the sweet sauces detracted from the dishes. The salad and dessert were good, but we expected so much more for a $200 meal.
Love the bar, drinks, and great service from Joe the bartender. Dinner was excellent as was service. Be sure to try the donut holes for dessert- delicious!
We were there on a Thursday evening, early dining. The restaurant was quiet, had a warm feel as you entered. Our waiter, Jacob was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wine selections we were interested in.
My friend and I each ordered a recommended dinner selection and both were outstanding, Braised Short Rib and the Chilean Sea Bass.
I would highly recommend this place for any special occasion. Great atmosphere, great food and great service.
We always have a great time at Rox City Grill our granddaughter loves Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Eve dinner
Waiter made good suggestions, was polite and attentive. We enjoyed our meals, good portions and excellent prep. Mouth waters just thinking about it.
It took almost an hour and a half from ordering to receiving our food. Way too long. The piano player/singer was horrible - all ten of us agreed. Noise level is not conducive for conversation. Very overpriced. Don't think I find a need to return.
Really good food, nice ambiance. Delicious iced tea, tasted like cinnamon, and excellent lamb chops and mussels. Located in the Hotel Baker, would good back.
The overall experience was good. We wanted a water front view of the river, but did not realize that the Rox City Grill was on the opposite side of the hotel from where the river was. Waitress was very nice and the food was very good. By far the best part was that the food came out fairly quick. We didn’t have to sit there forever waiting to eat, but I did not feel like the speediness sacrificed the taste or deliciousness of the food in any way. Very modern interior which was cool. I think sitting at a both is nice for a more private conversation, as it was a little loud in there, and more so than I was expecting. Overall a nice experience!
We dined here for our 30th Anniversary. The food, service and ambiance was great!
We had a great time. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. We will come back.
Very nice wonderful service! Food was good and nice atmosphere! Go hungry!
Located in the Baker Hotel, this restaurant is just a block away from the Arcada Theater. So, by having dinner at the Rox City Grill before the show, you can enjoy a fine meal and you only have to park your car once. Our server's name was Lhancy. She explained the specials on the menu and was as pleasant as she was efficient. The strip steak and Chilean Sea Bass we ordered were excellent. The restaurant has an extensive list of imported wines and offers live music later in the evening. My wife and I plan on returning to St. Charles in October to see another show at the Arcada and dinner at this restaurant will a part of our itinerary.
Food was excellent but no real vegetarian options. Service was poor, had to ask for requested items two and three times--and it was NOT busy. Finally gave up on one item. For the prices charged, the wait staff should be better.
Would have been nice to go outside. A patio area near the river would be fantastic
Fantastic food, service and location. There's absolutely nothing I would change. Our server, Jacob (Hope I got that right) was outstanding as was everybody else.
The food was absolutely fantastic. Our server, Stevie was very friendly as well as helpful. Outstanding dining experience, we will be back again for sure.
Tried it for the first time. Great food and service. Small and great ambiance. We will definitely go again.
Food was soso, snappy server, overall i am being generous giving it a 3. Be better or drop the prices! Also the serving plates aren’t cute.
Very pleasant experience. Food excellent, quiet the night we were there, service accommodating but not overbearing. Will definitely return.
went for Bachelorette dinner - party of 6 - food was amazing, staff was OUTSTANDING, fun and not stuffy or uptight. very fun vibe. would absolutely return. there was a musical act when we were there and he was great with the group, got them all signing along and played a little bit of everything. I would just recommend seeing if there is a band the night you're going if you wanted a quiet dinner because it was anything but that... otherwise fun place. great location. you may have to park and walk but downtown St Charles is gorgeous.
We dine there a lot. Over the past 4 months service has been slow
First time visit. First impression not good when wait staff ignored us so they could chit chat with another couple planning a wedding. They were apparently having a good time. Food was eventually ordered and served and was well prepared and presented.
Very good food. Excellent service. A little pricy but worth it.
Went for our Anniversary-met another couple for drinks in the bar and was fine, nice bar (but reconsider your choice of high top chairs-everyone was sliding out of them!). The restaurant was good and nothing fundamentally wrong but for the money it lacked a bit of creativity I thought. Service was ok but nearly a bit off pace as I think they were down a person.
Overall the place is nice but could be better and should be better for the money.
I would recommend the bar more than the restaurant and by the time we left and the piano player started the bar area was full-so seems a lot of people would agree with me.
We have been to Rox City Grill before, and I think it has changed. It was EXTREMELY noisy this time. Food was ok but very heavily salted.
Overall good experience, but in pricey side.
The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. However, there were too many problems with the food. I had the lamb lollipops, the chicken lollipops, and the crab cakes. The lamb tasted as if it was old meat, but the chicken tasted very good. The crab cakes had too much filler; however, I will admit my standards are very high since we lived in Annapolis Maryland before moving to Illinois, where the crab cakes were almost all crab meat. My wife had the kabobs, and the steak also tasted like old meat.
On a positive note, our server realized we were not pleased with the food and removed several of the items from our bill without any prompting from us. Although, I was surprised the manager or chef didn’t come by to apologize.
I think we might go back again, but only for cocktails in a nice atmosphere.
Food was great. This is a very quiet spot attached to Hotel Baker. We were there around 7:30 on a Friday night so later for dinner and early for a bar crowd. Our server was super friendly and energetic. It’s integrated with the bar so I’m sure it can get pretty lively with a crowd. The wine list is decent and the cocktail menu seemed impressive.
Great service, fabulous menu and the steaks are great. Don’t forget to order the doughnuts for dessert, they are to die for!
We had a fabulous meal, great ambience and service! Will definitely be coming back again!
