We dine there a lot. Over the past 4 months service has been slow

First time visit. First impression not good when wait staff ignored us so they could chit chat with another couple planning a wedding. They were apparently having a good time. Food was eventually ordered and served and was well prepared and presented.

Very good food. Excellent service. A little pricy but worth it.

Went for our Anniversary-met another couple for drinks in the bar and was fine, nice bar (but reconsider your choice of high top chairs-everyone was sliding out of them!). The restaurant was good and nothing fundamentally wrong but for the money it lacked a bit of creativity I thought. Service was ok but nearly a bit off pace as I think they were down a person.

Overall the place is nice but could be better and should be better for the money.

I would recommend the bar more than the restaurant and by the time we left and the piano player started the bar area was full-so seems a lot of people would agree with me.

We have been to Rox City Grill before, and I think it has changed. It was EXTREMELY noisy this time. Food was ok but very heavily salted.

The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. However, there were too many problems with the food. I had the lamb lollipops, the chicken lollipops, and the crab cakes. The lamb tasted as if it was old meat, but the chicken tasted very good. The crab cakes had too much filler; however, I will admit my standards are very high since we lived in Annapolis Maryland before moving to Illinois, where the crab cakes were almost all crab meat. My wife had the kabobs, and the steak also tasted like old meat.

On a positive note, our server realized we were not pleased with the food and removed several of the items from our bill without any prompting from us. Although, I was surprised the manager or chef didn’t come by to apologize.

I think we might go back again, but only for cocktails in a nice atmosphere.

Food was great. This is a very quiet spot attached to Hotel Baker. We were there around 7:30 on a Friday night so later for dinner and early for a bar crowd. Our server was super friendly and energetic. It’s integrated with the bar so I’m sure it can get pretty lively with a crowd. The wine list is decent and the cocktail menu seemed impressive.

We ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer and it was delicious. Miso crusted Chilean sea bass was amazing and the steaks were cooked perfectly. Very enjoyable dinner location.

Still one of the best steaks in the Fox Valley area and their Yukon Gold smashed potatoes are superlative. It is a small, intimate restaurant with attentive service and a nice ambience. On weeknights is generally quiet enough that you can have a conversation.

The food was excellent as usual. The steaks are some of the best around. For the wine geeks, Tuesdays are the day we usually go because it is "no corkage fee" night. That makes it worth it as the steaks are pricey. Service is very attentive. Atmosphere is quiet enough to talk. Wonderful, cozy place that is great for a romantic dinner or a nice conversation with friends. They do have live music on weekends that makes the place much louder. The bar gets pretty active on weekends...and corkage is $25 on Saturdays.

Steaks are always excellent and the smashed yukon gold potatoes are a thing of beauty. Every bite was excellent. Only weakness was the ceasar salad was which still good but not up to their usual. Service is always attentive. This is an expensive dinner but it is always so good we like to go fairly frequently. Tuesdays are corkage free nights which helps on the expense and it is seldom busy on weeknights. Good for us but not so much for them. If they don't have their live music playing in the bar, it is also quiet enough that you can enjoy a nice conversation. Weekends are much busier and much louder. Small, cozy dining area in historic hotel with nice ambiance. Highly recommended.

We went here for my birthday dinner this year.. The night started off bad, due to no parking.. I thought they had a valet, they do not. My husband dropped me off at the door a few minutes before our reservation.. he finally got back about 30 minutes later!! We are not familiar with parking in STC, he ending parking about 5 blocks away, after driving around for quite some time.

Service started off slow, but it was obvious they were trying .. it wasn't like people were standing around. It appeared as though they were short handed for the night. The server was very busy, so after about 10 minutes the hostess at least took our drink order.

Even with all that.. the food was excellent, I had a filet and my husband and the sea bass. Both entree's were amazing.

I would certainly go back, but most likely on a week night in warmer weather , due to the parking situation!

Our second time at Rox City in the historic Baker Hotel. We made a detour on our visit to Chicago to eat there as we live 300 miles away. Reception was excellent. Food was very good and the service was good, although when there were times it was difficult to get our server's attention, other staff members were quick to assist. Will definitely go again when we travel to Chicago.

We were under the impression that this was a "fine dining" establishment based on reviews.
This establishment can improve in many areas and does not meet the criteria for that designation.

An excellent, creative menu, with excellent variety despite an extensive steak selection, and somewhat 'tony' pricing. One faux pas with our meal: the waitress noticed an error in my wife's dinner just as she arrived at our table with the food. My meal cooled somewhat as we waited for her to bring out the corrected dish. I know I would have enjoyed my meal more, if only it hadn't grown too cold as I was finishing. Unfortunate. A small point (to some): excellent coffee!

Restaurant is remodeled and very well done. We had a group of 10 and all the food we ordered were fantastic. The Skewers and rack of lamb was especially tasty. The salmon was some of the best I've tasted. All in the historic Hotel Baker!!!

Great service, food, and overall experience. The new renovations they made to the place is nice. It has a cozy, romantic feel to it. We came at the right time for live piano music which added to the ambiance. The server was efficient and prompt with all of our requests and questions.

I had the NY Strip with the Yukon Smashed Potatoes and Asparagus and my girlfriend had the Filet with the same sides. We both had a side of mushrooms to go with our steaks. Before this, we each had the Lumpia and then two Wedges for each of us. Everything was as expected, tasted great, and met our taste for the night.

Overall, happy to see that the ROX City Grill is still doing great in St. Charles. We will be back again one day soon!

Considering the good reviews on Open Table, I was expecting a good meal. The food was genuinely terrible, for the most part. Scallops and risotto were pretty good, filet mignon was just OK, and truffle fries were good. Oysters Rockefeller and crab cake appetizers were not good at all, swordfish Oscar was downright awful (bad hollandaise and crab flakes from a can), and Asian barbecue skewers had a funky sauce. The restaurant was not crowded, so no excuse there.

Too much good competition in the area for this poor quality food. We went for the Hotel Baker ambiance, but it clearly was not worth the terro be meal.

We didn't expect this! Bid on a basket that included a gift certificate to Rox Grill. Decor has been updated and is sleek and modern. Crab cake app was out of this world! Dinner entrees were creative and flavorful. As we were finishing our dinner, piano player started and the bar was a party including all generations present. Singing and dancing and friendly fun. We'll be back soon!
