Row 34 is a trendy restaurant and bar that serves a variety of contemporary American dishes and seafood specialties. The restaurants interior is modern and sleek with a high-rise ceiling lined with large semi-circular metallic light fixtures. Guests can browse the raw bar near the dining room, which showcases the latest catches of the season. Row 34 also offers outdoor patio seating when the weather is nice.
Begin the meal with a bowl of soup or an appetizer like clam chowder with house saltines, pumpkin soup, tuna tartare with sesame and cucumber, deviled crab toasts with smoked paprika and celery or Maine streamers with drawn butter and lemon. For the main course at Row 34, try the popular flat iron steak with roasted potatoes, mushrooms and red wine butter.
We love Row 34! Great raw bar selection from oysters to crudo and ceviche. Best lobster roll in town which I always want to get but everything else is delicious too. I had monkfish and my husband had hake and they were cooked perfectly and finished with light fresh sauce and accompaniments. Hostess was friendly and welcoming. Service was excellent. Can't wait to return!
Ordered mussels, came out room temperature. Sent them back to be remade. Requested that rest of meal come out of kitchen and be served hot. Pasta special was not only lukewarm but looked like a half-portion. How expensive is it to sell pasta? A full portion was warranted. Last straw came when we asked to substitute a side: instead of French fries as our burger accompaniment we asked for spaetzle (served as a side with the salmon entree) instead. The waitress, after consulting with the kitchen, informed us that there would be no substitutions. Really???? Due to the poor food temperature we were comped a dessert: butterscotch pudding that tasted like Jello instant. We won't be returning.
We come here for everything. Birthdays, dates, and especially when we have out of town guests. The best way to experience all the great things being in New England has to offer from the raw bar and oysters, craft brews amazing wine list and of course, the buttered lobster roll (drool worthy). I get it every time I go (I've been 4 times this years so far). I've tried others dishes and they are amazing as well but I gotta get that roll!
Hip hard to get to restaurant but the oysters and seafood are great and the waitstaff friendly and professional. Bar worth dining at as well. Been a few times, always a big check but always feel good about what I've eaten! Great beers too!
We came here for a two couples' birthday party. We had Oysters, Salmon Neck, and a bunch of small plates. The food was fabulous, the service was great! Highly recommended!
We went for the lobster rolls and we're not disappointed. You can have the rolls one of two ways: cold with mayo, etc. or with melted butter. We opted for the melted butter. Wow! Lots of lobster meat, wonderfully toasted roll and just enough butter. Delicious! Great service, too.
Row 34 has the very best, the very freshest, the sweetest most perfect oysters of anywhere (except maybe it's sister restaurant Island Creek Oyster). The Wellfleets are plump, juicy, briny and wonderful. The crab cake is crabby and crunchy and tasty. The room is informal and fun and the wait staff are nicely attentive. loved it. Get the oysters!
Everything was delicious. I loved my lobster roll - it was the best I've ever had.
We dined here to celebrate our daughter's finish of the Boston Marathon. This place was perfect. The beer list was extensive and unusual. Our waiter was attentive and had excellent recommendations. We had wonderful oysters and a calamari appetizer. My daughter had the monkfish, my husband had the whole fish and I had the buttered lobster roll. All were excellent. We finished with the chocolate pie and butterscotch pudding desserts to share and they were also delicious.
Ate at Row 34 while in Boston to run the Boston Marathon. wonderful meal. Great experience. Even our cabbie told us we had made a great choice. Our seafood was delicious. Great presentation.
The waiter was inattentive. Food mediocre for the price and portions were just enough. I would not go back.
The warm buttered lobster roll was delicious, as was the fluke ceviche. But the scallop ceviche, tuna crudo and butterscotch dessert were all very bland disappointments.
Outstanding fresh seafood and wait staff was knowledgable on advising us. Loved it!
This restaurant is a perfect gem near the Boston convention center! The atmosphere is trendy yet comfortable, and service was on point. We wanted everything on the menu, and were eyeing everything that was coming out of the kitchen. We started with some fresh oysters. And we also shared the steamed mussels with coconut green curry sauce and peanuts. It was amazing! I've had a lot of poorly cooked mussels lately, but this was the best preparation I've had in a long time. I ordered the baked hake which was perfectly cooked. It was so tender and moist that I devoured it in minutes. My colleagues ordered the lobster roll with butter (instead of mayo). I had a bite of one of their's and it was the best lobster roll ever! It's stuffed full of lobster, and the toasted bun was divine. Hands down, probably the best in MA! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Especially if you are going to be in South Boston near the convention center.
I had a friend in town so I wanted to go to a seafood restaurant with her since we both are big fans of seafood. Everything we had from raw bar, appetizers, soup, to entrees was all spectacular! We had so much good food with very reasonable price. I'll definitely go back!
My boyfriend and I were running a bit late as I had chosen to wear new shoes for our 20 minute walk to the restaurant. As any woman knows, new shoes and a long walk are a recipe for disaster. I was so embarrassed upon our arrival because my heels were banged up pretty bad. The hostess was so sweet and brought me bandaids and gauze! The food was incredible and the service was immaculate. I will definitely recomend this restaurant to all of my friends and family! Can't wait to dine again!
But restaurant I've been to in Boston in awhile. Phenomenal seafood and drinks
Had the best experience here - all the food was amazing. Had the uni toast and fluke crudo for appetisers. The uni toast was wonderful on its own - didn't need any of the dressing that came on the side. The fluke crudo was robustly seasoned with an asian twist. The offerings from the cold bar were fabulous and fresh. For mains, had the whole branzini which was beautifully and subtly seasoned, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And that hot buttered lobster roll - dare I say it was even better than the much-lauded one from Neptune's Oyster? It came on a perfectly toasted bun, also just crisp enough on the outside and pillowy and light on the inside. Best lobster roll I had during my stay in Boston - I'd already had about 4 that week so that's saying something. Our server was brilliant - the warmest and friendliest ever, gave us great recommendations off the food and extensive beer list, and completely read our minds when we said we were keen on dessert and brought us out a heavenly butterscotch pudding (save room for this!) Best meal we had on our trip - no wonder it's one of the hardest reservations to get.
Amazing oysters and best lobster I've had. Crunch on the bun was divine.
I was eager to try Row 34 but wasn't overly impressed by our experience there. It was simply ok. The initial greeting we received at the hostess stand was blah, our server was friendly but not completely knowledgeable about the menu and the food wasn't all that great. There are plenty of other restaurants in Boston that I would rank much higher for cuisine and service. All in all, we left feeling a little disappointed.
As always great service, food and ambiance. Never disappoints.
My colleagues and I had a very nice lunch at this spot less than 10 minutes walk from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The menu choices were varied, prices reasonable, and service excellent.
Soggy Fries!! Unforgivable in a casual seafood place!! Fix the fries and it would be great!!
Row 34 scored relatively high in most of the reviews that we searched prior to attending, but the restaurant -- it's service team, food and atmosphere exceeded all expectations. An extensive and eclectic beer listing, awesome lobster roll and cerveche (scallop) that was indescribably tasty. The waitress, Becky, was a gem which only added to the joy of the experience. If you want to experience great food and Boston hospitality, Row 34 deserves a place on your hit list!
Have been multiple times. Always a great experience. Fresh fish and great drinks. Service attentive
Quality of food is indisputable. We started with a selection of oysters. I had the crab cake as my main and my husband had the fish and chips. Everything was delicious and the service was perfectly spaced out and a good balance of responsive but not in your face. The food is excellent and the location is good. If I return to Boston I will reserve again. On that note, reserve early. This is not a well kept secret so reservations go fast.
Brought two young kids with us and there were no issues. Gladly stored our double stroller for us. Great wine list and food was fantastic. Loved the playlist as well
I was meeting a client for lunch - needed a quick reservation and found this place near the seaport. Lofty ceilings, industrial style interior, makes it fun but really loud. We both had the lobster roll, it was very good. Chips it came with were a bit soggy. I liked that sparkling water was offered as well as still water. Prices seemed to be in keeping with other restaurants in the area. For my purpose it was not ideal as it is loud - but to go on a date or for cocktails - it would be great. Service was acceptable.
Delicious oysters, food was great, service was attentive. Only complaint was how pricey some of the beers were. $26 is too much for a 12oz.
Great food, great beer. Get the cornbread, lobster roll and some oysters and you will love it.
I love Island Creek Oyster Bar so was excited to try Row 34 and was disappointed. I have to say that the front desk staff is great - very welcoming and accommodating. We were seated promptly. Our waiter was good, but not great. The oysters were outstanding as expected. The scallop ceviche was tasty but serving with potato chips on top is not a good idea - not a good look and they were soggy. I had the black bass special which was not plated well - it looked like they just pulled it off the grill and plopped it on a plate - couscous was heaped on top - again, a home cook could have done better. It was just ok. ICOB is a much better take.
I went there a few times and each time was an amazing experience, on the bar area or at a table, great food, drinks, ambience and the service.
Fun place for drinks and raw bar. Hostess excellent. Waitress could care less. Inattentive. We had a good time anyway.
We LOVED Row 34! We eat a lot of seafood and this was some of the best we've ever had- everything was so flavorful and delicious! It was a lot of fun to order dishes from the raw bar (my mom tried some of the oysters but I don't eat oysters and still really enjoyed the smoked fish spreads and salads). The celery pear salad, crab cake, sea bass, Old Bay onion rings, and broccoli rabe side were all very tasty! The beer selection was great, too. It's a bit loud and you definitely need a reservation, but we will definitely be back!
They served a whole fish, yes the whole thing and it was phenomenal. As was the scallop ceviche and all the oyster selections. The wine list is extensive and the bartender in the server's knowledge of the beer and wine list and the food was excellent. It is pricey, but I would highly recommend it . Make a reservation. It is a very busy place.
Lunch was fabulous, once again. It's always a great experience at Row34. We go at least twice a week and the staff and food never disappoint!
Excellent food and service. Classy yet casual.. Loved it
Our only complaint is that Open Table said there were only 2 tables, sure seemed like there were more, but perhaps it reflected staffing levels. The food was very, very good and service was fine, but got slow towards the end. The waitress was knowledgeable about the oysters and very friendly. I'd like to try dinner. We liked the openness and high ceilings. There is an terrific beer selection. We'll be back!
Amazing restaurant. This was our second time, first time was in the summer, had both hot and cold lobster rolls. Hands down best lobster rolls we have ever had. Tonight I had the fish and chips and that was amazing as well. Portion size was huge and the batter to fish ratio was great. It was a great time. Will definitely go back.
This was my second time to Row 34. I was there several years ago with my family. This time around with a bunch of guys in town for a hockey game.
The seafood is quite good and can give most places in Boston a run for their money. Good thick New England Clam Chowder in a large bowl was served piping hot and full of oysters. I ordered eight fresh oysters. All were fresh. All were East Coast. Although there was a nice variety of them, there was a significant sameness. They flavor range was limited, mostly expressing different levels of salinity.
There is an excellent selection of beers both on tap and in bottles.
This seems like a great place to meet after work or lunch. According to others in our group, the lobster roll was quite good with high marks for the bun on which it was served as well.
