During our "Girls Trip" in Asheville this weekend to celebrate several of our birthdays, we found this restaurant Saturday night through Open Table. It was a last minute pick after we all arrived in town from our various departure points: Philadelphia; Washington, DC. area; Savannah and Loris, SC.
Since it was in a hotel, we were a little skeptical about the quality of the food and service. But starting with the appetizers, we knew we were in for a treat. From the garlic mussels, to the calamari, the trout, roasted vegetables, sauteed mushrooms, and all of the other dishes we ordered, the food burst with flavor. We were so impressed with the freshness and perfectly seasoned meals, we asked to meet the chef -- who by the way was also very pleasant!
Our waitress was also a delight. Not only was she friendly and engaging, she lit up the room with a radiant smile and wonderful energy!
For five African American women who were dining for the first time together in Asheville, Roux was a hidden jewel worth discovering!
We loved our dinner at Roux. Food was cooked perfectly and the service was awesome.
We LOVE Roux; You should try it! Then YOU will to ...
The banana pancakes were AMAZING! I’ll definitely be visiting again next time I’m in town.
The food was excellent from the appetizer to the dessert. I had a pork tenderloin dish with a ginger sauce, crispy Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. My husband had the filet. Everything was cooked perfectly. He had homemade ice cream (Chocolate Peanut) for dessert. A fruit bread was included with dinner which was amazing.
Our waiter couldn't have been better.
The restaurant is in the lobby of a hotel. A turnoff for some, but we like it because it is convenient to the movie theater and great shops. The décor, is actually quite pleasant and surprisingly quiet. But the food makes this place. Outstanding! Have never had anything we didn't like. They have a cream of mushroom soup that is to die for, and their salmon and steaks are always cooked perfectly, and they have a wide variety of perfectly cooked veggies as well.
We had a lovely Valentine's Day dinner at Roux. It was a little noisy. Food was very good.
Great food and service. Gave roses to the ladies. Steak was cooked perfectly.
Good food and excellent service. Located in hotel lounge area. Great for a bite before or after a movie at Regal.
We went for Resaurant week. Good food, good service, half price wine on Wednesday. What's not to like?
Another GREAT meal at Roux after a movie ... GREAT food, GREAT service!
food was very average. portions good. but average. server was nice but manager excluded my party from special promotion she offered to adjoining tables.
Two dinners for $32 is an incredible value at this restaurant in Biltmore Park. The biggest downside is finding parking on a Saturday night.
We had the tuna and the trout. The well fresh, cooked appropriately (rare for the tuna) and tasty. Desserts are sparse and can be skipped, but the creme brulee was quite good. Service was pleasant and professional.
We would definitely return.
We went during Restaurant Week and discovered the menu is what they do all the time - so not special for the event but still a pretty good deal (two entrees for $32). Pasta Bolognese was very good as was the pork dish but friend had rice/beans and did not care for it. The dining room was not super comfortable - chairs HUGE and space very open (open onto lobby). Overall it was a nice meal and we are glad we tried it but will probably not go back as there are so many restaurants in Asheville to explore.
I really wanted to like this place, but would not recommend it to anyone. I had the pot pie which was served in a bowl filled with goopy salty shredded chicken soup with 3 pieces of puff pastry on top. The rice and beans with Andouille sausage was dried out and the presentation left something to be desired. They couldn't even get the salads right. Caesar not tossed with a pile of parma on top. Nice waitress, but not trained. We spoke to the couple at the next table and they too were disappointed in the food. You are virtually sitting in the lobby of the hotel, but I hear breakfast is good.
Roux continued its OUTSTANDING service! Plus we each received a complimentary side salad thanks to it being restaurant week in AVL.
This was our second visit within the same week with two different groups of friends; one after a movie across the street, the other simply because La Roux offers great food and great service + takes reservations and the proprietor permits the option to have more time for conversation absent any suggestion of "you need to move along now". Hence it has become a favorite for outings where a small group of six can thoroughly enjoy a lunch or dinner and chat!
Surprised this restaurant exists in a hotel in asheville. Waitress worked hard.
We enjoyed the NYE New Orleans-style Brunch. The atmosphere was festive, fun and enjoyable. Always delicious on a Sunday, the special brunch mixed traditional with creole classics. It made for a terrific meal at a great value! The staff was a bit too thin for the service and overall to achieve 5 stars, but a great time and meal were enjoyed!
One of the best unknown Asheville dining spots. Very adult; quiet and affordable. Limited but complete menu. Wait staff fun to chat with.
A real surprise and a restaurant we will return to. Great staff and great food! My husband was not thrilled to eat in hotel restaurant but was very surprised with the quality and the diversity of the food choices.
Came here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a buffet, but the quality of the food and the service was very disappointing. Would not recommend.
Had thanksgiving brunch here and the food was top notch. It was a smaller buffet but had a variety of choices and all that ou needed. Also enough choices for vegetarians. Would definitely recommend.
Jennifer was wonderful.
Had dinner tonight and it was wonderful - the trout and sherried mushrooms were amazing and not to be missed. The service was also fantastic. This is a hidden gem - not very crowded but well worth a visit!
The online menu made it appear there were few gluten free options but most of the entrees were actually gluten free. Good options for sides. Variety of meal options at a reasonable price for a nice meal.
Food was so so. The veggies that I had needed some fat and were extremely dry. Just a little EVOO would have cured that. My sister said the salmon was excellent though!
We took advantage of the 2 for $32 special. Any entrée and any 2 sides for each entrée. I had the salmon with beets and goat cheese salad and the asparagus. Salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband raved about the pork and his brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. Overall excellent meal and fantastic value.
A friend told us about their good experience at Roux Restaurant at the Hilton in Asheville. We were not disappointed when we took our house guests there recently for lunch. The menu is varied and the service by our waiter, Anderson, was excellent. Anderson also mentioned the great dinner menu as well as their very popular Sunday brunch. I am always looking for a great place to take our house guests for Sunday brunch so I look forward to returning to Roux to experience this with my close friends and family.
It was great to be able to enjoy a meal and actually have a conversation with your companion. The service was excellent (thanks, Michaela) and both dinners were first rate.
