The deck was great. The food was perfect. The waitstaff was Johnny on the spot
Good food and a killer view from the deck!
So many kids, sat us in what seemed the kids section, table fully in the sun, food good, drinks so so, paying that gondola fee is absolutely ridiculous. $90 before food and drink. Never again.
This is a must do when visiting Ketchum. We assumed the food would be basic, but it exceeded our expectations. The hummus platter was divine as was the lamb burger. The views were incredible and service was excellent. We’ll be dining here again!
Love the Round House. The food was great and you can’t beat the atmosphere and the whole experience. Spectacular views of Sun Valley.
Visitors should take advantage of the Gondola and then enjoy the Roundhouse for lunch.
We really enjoyed the lobster rolls and lamb burger.
Came here for lunch, to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had hoped to hike directly up, but learned that the trails were pretty much blocked due to maintenance. So we took the gondola up. A lovely ride. We were seated right away. Food was about what you would expect. Kind of a bar menu, but everything was delicious! Our server was spot on. And the rest of the staff truly went out of their way to maintain cleanliness of the establishment. Will return, as we are locals of Ketchum.
As always first class service and tasty dishes.
Great food & stunning views!
Delicious! We had the salmon blt, they were great along with truffle fries.
Our server was Sara and she was the best service we have ever had at RH. We also appreciated how diligently everyone was wiping down the chairs and tables.
We ate on the deck and the view was breathtaking.
Our server was terrific but the service was slow. It took a long time to place order and get drinks and even longer to get the food. I’m sure they limit the staff, but the amount of tables was limited too so not sure what the issue was. We didn’t complain because we were enjoying chatting.
The food was hit and miss - most things were only acceptable, certainly not as great as we would have hoped considering, but some of the food was cold and the pita chips were stale.
When ordering I asked if the chips they offered were house-made and got a resounding “They sure are!” I would bet $1000 they were Ruffles - I know because I buy that brand. But if I’m right, why would they lie about something that is pretty obvious they are lying about?
The prices were steep but in kind with all of Ketchum/Sun Valley but the extra $180 for lift tickets to get 6 people to The Roundhouse was just silly.
Not impressed. We arrived to a long line of people waiting for tables, yet the inside was basically empty. While waiting for our table, we could hear all kinds of commentary from the kitchen. Service was slow, perhaps they were understaffed due to COVID. However, I ordered a salmon BLT and when it arrived at the table, it was missing bacon. Fortunately we were able to sit outside and enjoy the views. Prices were about what we expected, but overall it was sub-par.
Amazing views! The food was fresh and tasty. The drinks were great and service was super friendly and quick.
You definitely go for the view. This was their first day open so there may have been few missteps, but they just kept adding up. Warm beer (it was delivered that day apparently), warm wine, ordered chips and got quinoa salad, no croutons on the salad, had to trade burgers because one ordered no pickles and got switched. You definitely pay for the view (especially with the $29 gondola ride) and the food/experience just isn’t worth it.
Roundhouse is full of soul, good vibes and, of course, food. Had such a great experience and the staff was great!
The Roundhouse is a true American classic. The view of the Sawtooth Mountains, the historic setting, the service and the food are all a very special experience.
My wife and I quite often eat lunch at the Roundhouse while skiing at Sun Valley. We stopped for lunch on March 8 after making a reservation on Open Table. The service was great as usual and you can't beat the ambiance of a restaurant built on a mountain in the 1930's. Had the Bison Chili and shared a lamb burger with truffle fries. Yum. Lamb was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the food was delivered to our table in a very reasonable time considering we were eating during the lunch rush. Our waiter checked back with us often and made sure we had plenty of wine to go with lunch.
Great time and wonderful food. Sarah was a really good server. Looking forward to the next time.
Step back in time to with a visit to this historic lodge atop Bald Mountain. Wonderful wood burning fireplaces and a great view, combined with great food and drink.
Great atmosphere on the mountain. Lovely octagon shaped building with tons of character. They are known for their fondue and it doesn't disappoint. Worth the trip up the gondola even if you don't ski.
Rian was an amazing waiter. The chef visited us. The views are incredible and the food was fantastic. A class act all around.
No one can beat this view with fondue and a great wine list. We also enjoyed the charcuterie and root vegetable salad. The place is overpriced but you get views at 8,000 feet of the surrounding mountain ranges. It’s well worth it!
We had a special fondue lunch with family on our visit to Sun Valley
Been to the Roundhouse a few times. Great views and mountain experience whether you ski or not. We will be back on our next trip!
but I would warn them about the expense..$400 for lunch for 6 people is expensive
Dress warm, as it is an old building and can be drafty by the windows. But worth it!
such a historic spot! sweet potato soup and lobster rolls were amazing! drinks, great. total fun. stunning really
The staff was great and the food delicious. My friend was on crutches and they were very good about helping get him closer so he didn’t have to go up so many steps.
Elk was some of the best we’ve ever had. Ambiance hard to beat.
Roundhouse was an unexpectedly wonderful experience. At the top of the gondola, the unassuming building built in the late 30's is centered by a 4-sided fireplace... the ambiance was so warm and the view of the town below beautiful. All courses of the prix fixe meal were delicious, the service great, and the pace of the meal uncrushed but not slow. Not inexpensive but we would all do it again when visiting Sun Valley!
A nice place for lunch, but dinner is too expensive for what you get.
Service was top-notch and the food and wine was delicious. Fun event for out of towners who want to get a view of Ketchum from the gondola at night.
As I mentioned, the food was delicious, especially the filet mignon and the sweet potato bisque. There was just way too much of all of it overall. We could have done with one less course.
For the price....the salmon was horrible! It was frozen too long and old. All the beef tenderloins were given to the wrong person so the steaks ALL were wrong. Service was ridiculously slow! Had to wait 25 min for the waiter to come for more drinks. The prices are outlandish for the quality of the entire experience!! Will not go back!
Can't beat the views or food at the Roundhouse. Fondue was a bit watery, but still delicious.
There is almost no place like the round house! We go every year sometimes for a quiet lunch and sometimes for a rowdy celebration as we did this weekend. For the rowdy celebration the servers always rise to the occasion and we are never disappointed.
The second we sat down the fondue was presented, drinks came without delay perfectly mixed by the expert bartender, Sully. The ambience is so good that it is truly a place you never want to leave - always a highlight of any visit to Sun Valley.
The Roundhouse is an integral part of our annual ski trip to Sun Valley’s Mt Baldy. The food, views, service, atmosphere are all excellent.
Ski party time!
We have eaten at Roundhouse (dinner) before and Averrells (does not take reservations). When we had a party of 6 celebrating a friends 49th birthday (lunch), we asked for a table with a view in the main restaurant. We all gasped as we sat down, we had a wonderful table a bit away from others enabling us to celebrate without feeling like we were bothering anyone with the incredible view the restaurant is known for.
The service by Sarah was outstanding. She knows the wine and the menu inside and out, provided suggestions for the table that were all perfect, and her clear knowledge of fine dinning made the birthday celebration all the more special.
I don't usually write reviews for no other reason than time, but I had to take the time to thank the restaurant for a wonderful afternoon celebrating our dear friend, and to thank Sarah for how incredible she was to us all.
Amazing views, Fondue was delicious. Not a huge fan of having to pay $20 per person for a “foot pass” just to ride the gondola up to the restaurant (we didn’t have time in town to ski) but somewhat understand the cost to keep from overcrowding the mtn with too many non skiiers. Overall was a great experience as we were just passing through and made for a very memorable lunch in the mountains.
