Service room forever
Sunday brunch! What a delight. Weather was perfect, food was divine, service was prompt and lovely. Ask for Justin when you’re there next - he will take great care. I’ll be back!
Great meal and ambiance,
the layout of new Rouge is great. The space feels bigger.
Food is delicious.
I highly recommend the mushroom toast.
Fish was cooked to perfection...maybe a bit too much sauce but still delicious.
Loved the ambiance, we had a great table at a window. I liked the menu and enjoyed the chicken liver pate and a fish enter. Drinks were relish too!
Not the place it used to be...
Food was very good although limited menu. Cocktails excellent. Service was good, not great. At first our server hovered and then disappeared. (They need a happy medium.) Loud music interfered with conversation but at least I liked the music. Table looking out at Rittenhouse Square would have been a better spot.
There was a drunk man at the counter who broke a glass and then began screaming at nearby patrons. He was screaming at the top of his lungs and had to be removed from the restaurant. My scallops were decent, but not worth the price for three of them. My partner’s burger was so so, nothing extraordinary. This was my first experience and probably will be my last. May stop in to the bar in the future for a drink, as that was the best part!
My wife and I had reservations this past Friday at 6:15 pm. We were seated and ordered our drinks and dinner as planned. Everything was going great until an extremely drunk party of 3 were allowed to sit next to us even though they did not have reservations. They were very drunk and were bumping into our table and very distracting. Our dinner ended with these people spilling a drink all over their table which splashed on to us and our table. We were very disappointed in how this was handled and will not be making any dinner reservations at Rouge anytime soon because of this experience.
First of all the hostess was awesome. She was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The food was very good. I had the smoked salmon toast. This would have been a great experience if the service was better. Our server never smiled to us (he did when he was chatting with co-workers) and I made a point of being cheerful to him hoping that would make him more pleasant. I ordered tea with milk and honey. He brought the tea without a cup , spoon and honey. Came back with cup - no honey and spoon. He passed by a few times and we finally got to asked him again for honey and a spoon and he gave attitude like of course he knew (it had been a good while). Finally got it when I was 3/4 through my meal and he mumbled an apology. He acted like he really didn’t want to be there. He seemed to be the same with the other customers but was pleasant to the other staff. I never got his name. I would recommend the restaurant just hope you don’t get the same staff person.
Great service and delicious food! Drinks were pricey but as to be expected in Rittenhouse
best burger and tequila pour in the city! Plus now they have a gluten free frier, so I can eat fries!
So noisy....great food
The new decor does nothing for me. The Cobb salad was delicious and, at $19, pricey. No bread. No crackers. The service was slow; we waited 30 minutes for our food at lunchtime. Understanding that Rouge sees itself as more of a chi chi bar with food, the music is loud. But those who drink their lunch must love it. Honestly, it detracts from the very good food.
I am taking my family back for dinner in the near future.
This review is for. Rouge in Calgary Alberta Canada..... We made resv for Calgary. However it appears the resv were for a resting Baton Rouge
Our meal was excellent as usual Service was exceptional
Burger was delish. The place was toooooo hot inside. It was really uncomfortable.
Busy, fun, excellent service and quality drinks and food. Great time.
Very pleasant experience. Great view of Rittenhouse square. Service couldn't be better.
Excellent and large portion of Burger but not happy with $5.00 cost of coffee. The bar is a major segment of the restaurant and so as patrons were inpeaking.haling more and more alcohol, it was getting harder and harder to hear my partner speaking! We lingered for hours and "they" couldn't be nicer to us.
After a remodel Rouge reopened and it is still the place to get a great burger. Also the French fries are outstanding. My friend had the scallops and enjoyed them. Service excellent but remember this is a very small place. Love sitting by the open doors overlooking Rittenhouse Square.
Could barely talk to my dinner partner. Music way too loud. Had to request a shot be put in my drink since it was entirely soft drink. Shrimp appetizer was tasty. Weird guy stood at stool at bar and looked out the window rather than face the bar, creepy. Sat in crmaped corner table when others were clearly available with more room.
The menu selection was limited, however, the food was tasty. The wine list was limited and expensive. With that said my companion and I were disappointed with the service staff. For instance, after ordering a glass of wine a good 20 minutes passed before it was brought to our table. On the other end, once the table was cleared 10-15 minutes passed before the waiter returned to asked if we wanted anything else. I believed it was noteworthy that the restaurant was not crowded the evening we were there.
Went for Sunday morning brunch before our play. Restaurant wasn’t busy with many open tables, since it was just the 2 of us they didn’t seat us at the nice low table close to the open window but at a high top and the nice table remained empty during our entire time there. The brunch menu was interesting, I ordered the lobster scrambled eggs, my husband ordered the Rouge burger. It took at least 40 minutes to receive our food, so long the I drank 2 cups of the French press coffee before the meal arrived and my husband drank 2 small glasses of iced tea that was mostly filled with ice, so when our meals finally arrived my husband asked for another glass of iced ice and the waiter gave us a serious attitude. The waiter was surly and disinterested in us, we wanted to order drinks but he was difficult to get service from so we left without dessert or drinks. My lobster scrambled eggs and small salad were good except for the roll which was hard and almost impossible to break a piece off. My husband said the burger was good, large and served with fries. The music was loud and eclectic.
I don’t understand why people pick parc over this spot - better, every time, more food, less wait, cocktails and food are delish, and they give dogs water bowls. 10/10 recommend to a friend.
The food was quite good and the service was overall fine.
I have to say, though - please don't bring me my tea, make a show of pouring it, and then take another 5 minutes to come back with the sugar/sweetener. And please, when you bring the sugar, bring a spoon.
Dat outside on a baeutiful night. Great location and service.
Rouge was unbelievable! The food and service are some of the best that I have had in the city. The reboot of the restaurant is something worth checking out! The trout is amazing, also the lump crab(simple, but fantastic). The drinks are unmatched.
Went for my birthday. Food was very bad— steak cooked well when we asked for medium. We are it anyway because we were simply starving after slow service. Waitress seemed brand new and we were patient but it was just so incredibly slow. A kind estimate would be 15 min before we got our first drink. But the manager did try to make up for it. Except he sent us a hard as a rock lemon tart after I had already sent back a blueberry drink for being way too lemonish. Literal nightmare bday dinner. Will not be back. Will not recommend to others including coworkers.
I used to be a big fan of Rouge. This is is my second visit since the change and I am not a fan. First, the layout has lost it's pizzaz. The old layout was much more intriguing, the bar being away from the wall made it appear more unique and interesting. The current layout makes it look pretty ordinary. The new menu is nothing like the old one, there are little to no good options. We came specifically for the herb roasted chicken with the mash & spinach which was no longer on the menu. I had the lump crab with chips and it was literally like 4 pieces of lump crabmeat and some salty potato chips. The one drink that we always ordered was no longer on the menu, but thank God that the waitress and bartender knew what it was. It was still just as god as before. There is one thing that is still on there and ironically it's the most requested item, which is the Rouge Burger. I am not sure why they felt the need to make these changes, but I don't see me returning. It's no longer an experience for me, it's just another bar.
We drove past the restaurant a couple of times over the weekend, saw how packed it always was, and knew it was a happening place. So we made sure to go there last Sunday and had such a lovely time, sitting outside on a spring evening. The waiter was incredibly nice, informative, and attentive, the food was just delicious, and the setting lovely. I’d go back tomorrow.
Incredible birthday dinner! Do NOT pass up on the waffle praline dessert, melts in your mouth
Great all around
Nice special occasion lunch. The Rouge burger is as good as ever.
Did not seem as good as it was years ago. Trout dish was small and uninspiring. Burger was big patty but also fine and fries were somewhat cold.
We were outside and asked hostess to turn on the heaters on a very chilly night and it never happened.
Food was good although it came out slow and salty, despite no-salt request. Server (Taylor) was top-flight.
I was very excited to spend my anniversary dinner at Rouge after reading the write up in eater philly since it said the cocktails were designed by someone from Hop Sing Laundry. Instead, I found the service to be slow and confused (we were brought the same appetizer twice, we had to ask for our bottle of wine we ordered twice, and point out that more water would be nice). Except for the negroni, the other cocktails we ordered were watered down. The servers were not particularly pleasant-even after my husband read the bill incorrectly without his glasses and mistakenly left a 30% tip. We decided not to change the tip to a more standard one, but we definitely won’t be going back.
Rouge’s service and renovations disappoint... as a long-time diner at Rouge, I was looking forward to seeing the new look after renovations. It seems that Rouge is imitating airlines: to squeeze a row of tables into the center of the dining room, they have eliminated the grand bar which gave the restaurant glamour and charm. While this is an understandable economic decision, the room has lost lots of its attraction for me. My guest and I sat outdoors on a glorious day and enjoyed a chicken entree, octopus salad and a burrata salad. My guest loved the chicken, I found the burrata salad just ok and was sorely disappointing with the microscopic slices of octopus hidden among my greens! I have dined at Rouge dozens of times and was not impressed with these two appetizers. My Manhattan was just ok.
As to service: I arrived first and was left unattended for about 10 minutes; I finally asked to see my waiter and he told me he thought he’d give me some time to settle in...not exactly the response I wanted to hear. I also asked for some bread to go with appetizers, that never arrived. Had this been my first visit to Rouge, I wouldn’t return; however, I have enjoyed lots of good meals here and will try them again. But I do hope management addresses service issues, including the hostess stand where more finesse may be helpful.
Mediocre at best. An extremely limited and uninteresting menu. Noisy inside. Great location and if you want a burger and can get a table outside its top dollar but it works. If not, go to a restaurant with good food.
Food was delicious. Very loud but energetic crowd. Fun.
We enjoyed a nice, simple lunch of two very delish dishes - mushroom toast and three-chili shrimp - simply divine, in their flavor and texture. Only minor complaint was that the service was slower than it should be, but otherwise a really good experience overall!
