Come sit, eat, drink, relax and watch the city of Philadelphia go by.
The ambience is very nice. It appears small at first but while sitting I never felt as if the table next to me was too close I could not hear their conversation so it still felt very private. The ceiling and decor are beautiful. Our waiter was very nice and the food was absolutely delicious. The drinks were also very good. All around a great place
It was so cold we finally couldn’t take it anymore. It’s a shame because it ruined what would have otherwise been a nice time.
Went to Rouge for Valentine’s Day dinner with my husband. The Brussel Sprouts appetizer is my absolute favorite. It’s charred to perfection and the fish sauce it’s in is so yum. My husband got the Spanish calamari and surf and turf. He was raving about it. Best surf and turf he’s ever had. I got the seared scallops which were perfectly salted. Too often I have had bad ones but these were on point. Finished with a S’mores for Two paired with a Rumtini. The service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect for a cosy date. Also props go to the Sous Chef Matt D. bc the menu and flavors are 🤘. We will be back for sure.
Some extremely ignorant “good” yet foul mouthed customers that the wait staff seemed to tolerate at the expense of others.
Food was delicious and portions were nicely sized
Great place - went there for Brunch with my Temple freshman. I was fussy about how my eggs Benedict came out and the manager made sure it was absolutely perfect. Service amazing and aims to please. Highly recommend.
Loud, burger meat was not good, chicken sandwich could not be eaten as served (chicken didn't fit the bun), and expensive. Lovely place, good service, food was below average and not worth the money.
So glad the tuna tar tar is back on the menu. Was disappointed they were out of Moët.
Burger was good but salmon dish was tiny. The host (possibly manager) was extremely rude.
The clams and bucatini I had was one of the worst plates of pasta I’ve ever eaten. Specifically, the problem was the grated cheese on top of the pasta. It was a perfect example of why the italians in nearly every region of Italy believe that cheese and seafood don’t go together. There was so much cheese in the pasta that I could not perceive any taste of clam whatsoever. Fyi, I’m a veteran diner having consumed many many plates of pasta in many different restaurants in both the U.S. and Italy. The many plates of linguine and clams I’ve eaten have never contained cheese.
Small and unique setting with good food and service.
Charming staff, cozy atmosphere, delicious brunch - fantastic smashed potatoes, coffee like Paris, sensational avocado toast. Yum!
Great deal for restaurant week. Excellent service. We will be back.
Louder than I remembered, but stellar service, food and ambience. A gem
My only complaint was that it was very cold.
They acknowledged our anniversary and gave us champagne with a candle which was very much appreciated!
Too noisy for us. Even before the fire alarm went off and they couldn't fix it.
While service was pretty good overall they failed to offer any cracked black pepper or cheese for our lunch plates. It was empty at 2:30 pm, hard to get a handle on noise levels. The food was good, especially the brussel sprouts.
Outstanding! Food and service were excellent.
Restaurant week occasion. Server was very friendly. I gif the crispy chicken sandwich which was cooked perfectly but the sauce on it was barely edible. Not needed! The app was a pretty crudités with whipped feta and it was good. The dessert was a trio of small pastries: caramel filling cream puff (ok), key lime tart (lovely) and flourless chocolate torte (tasty). The restaurant is lovely and I would probably go back.
Hands down one of the best tasting lunches I have had. We went for Philly Restaurant week. The Brussel Sprouts were amazing! My Cobb salad was fresh and on point with the dressing. Props to the Manager and Sous Chef Matt because the service and food were A++. They took great care of us! Highly recommend this little gem!
Service was horrible. Very undercooked entree. Didn’t refill water glass. Waiter nowhere to be found. Stuck older people at worse tables. Age discrimination.
I recently went to Rouge for dinner for restaurant week. The interior of the restaurant is quite small. There’s minimal seating and the bar takes up about 50% of the floor space. It was rather cold because the windows facing Rittenhouse Square were open and it had become rather windy outside.
As for the food, it was disappointing. We had a salad and the salmon with mushrooms; not particularly tasty. Desert was skimpy.
The wait staff was pleasant; no complaints there.
Overall, between the food, the super small space and the cold air, I wouldn’t go back.
Great! Enjoyable service and excellent food!
Not a very extensive menu. It was ok
The waitress was fabulous, but the hamburger was tasteless.
We had a very ok meal at Rouge. Everything we had was good but we’d had better. We split the French onion soup and had the fried chicken sandwich and the scallops. Drinks were amazing but NYC prices. For what we paid, it should have been incredible. Not sure if I’d return for food but will come back for drinks because the decor and ambiance are lovely!
It was wonderful! The food was so good and the service was excellent!
Birthday celebration hostess and waitress did a great job to make it a great celebration
Went out with my parents for lunch as part of our Christmas tradition. The service was prompt, the food was excellent (I had the farro and kale with poached egg and my parents had the smoked salmon Benedict) and while the waitress had definitely mastered talking loud and clear, I might not have chosen to eat here had I realized how loud it was just because my dad has trouble hearing with that amount of background noise. I think it’s something about the space in the restaurant. Just something to think about if you have someone who is hard of hearing in your party.
Food is very good, we have been there before and with the change of owneership, it is still very good.
Excellent food and service. Please turn down the volume on your music.
First time visit. Great space and menu. Server super nice and had suggestions. Did have to ask 4 times for a soda. Only flaw.
Dined for Sunday brunch. Service was very slow and the restaurant was crowded and noisy. Salmon benedict and lobster scramble were good but not worth the wait.
Great brunch and drinks!!!
I was disappointed at Rouge. At first, it looked like a really cool spot. We ordered the cheese plate appetizer. It took a while for the plate to come out and when it did, it was underwhelming. The waitress didn’t even tell us what kind of cheeses we had (they are not listed on the menu). After she left, we realized they had forgotten the bread to put the cheese on. We informed the waitress who brought it over soon after. Then about 45 minutes later, our entrees finally came out. I had the spaghetti with clams and my gf had the burger (two meals that should not take more than 20 minutes to prepare). My dish was excellent. She had ordered her burger medium well and it came out very rare. We sent it back and it came out a few minutes later appearing to be ok, until she bit into it. It was still extremely rare all the way through, and it was clear the cook had just microwaved it until the outside looked cooked. Additionally, the burger was kind of boring. It was HUGE, which is likely why it was undercooked, but there was nothing special about it. I thought people cane there for the burger. If the cheese plate was cheaper, if the food had come out at a reasonable time, and if the burger was cooked it would’ve been a great dinner.
Really enjoyed Rouge! Great ambiance. Staff excellent and attentive. Menu great. And view in to Rittenhouse with holiday lights beautiful. Highly recommend.
For the reputation it has, I thought the food was poor and the menu options not great. The pomme frites came to the table lukewarm and with no salt. The salmon had absolutely no taste. It must really be more of a bar than a restaurant. I will not return.
I’d always seen Rouge’s outside tables next to those of Parc, and thought they would be somewhat the same, side by side competitors, dealing with the popularity of Parc. Not so! Outside dining days were over and I decided to book a table for Saturday lunch. A delight! Great menu, really friendly, intimate ambience (versus the hubbub of its neighbor) and I am eager to get back for dinner. Lovely, smaller place with great food, decor and situation!
