I am so sad this place is closed now. I'm Vietnamese and I went with my friend who was French. It was indeed a good experience for both of us to try something that was a little bit Vietnamese and a little bit French.

Rouge et blanc is one of my favorite village spots. Every dish is beautifully prepared both visually and in taste. The wine list is extensive and excellent. Tom the owner always checks to make sure people are good. The service was good but slow. They seemed to be understaffed. It got a little hot at times - maybe air conditioning was not working perfectly. But overall a nice experience and would be perfect if those little glitches did not occur.

The food was rather good, but the problems started shortly after I arrived with my party of 4. After the first bottle of wine was opened, two of the lights at nearby tables started leaking. I surmise that the condensation from the AC units was to blame, because the AC was turned off, leaving us hot, steamy, and with the lights flickering because of the water infiltration.

The service was very accommodating, the wine a soju drinks were good.

I love this restaurant for its unpretentious quality. Food is great, service outstanding and most of all, there is no loud music playing so you can actually have a conversation and enjoy the evening

The food was all very well prepared. All of the dishes had strong and interesting flavors. The ambiance was nice, on a cute street. I think the restaurant would be better served with a larger menu with more options.

Due to a communication glitch, we arrived just as the restaurant was closing. Upon hearing that it was a special event, the staff graciously reopened the kitchen and served us like royalty! Food was terrific - every dish an interesting blend of flavors. The octopus was amazing! And don't miss the banana dessert.

All in all a good dining experience, the food was quite delicious, but there were some very small portions that were not fit for sharing (or even as an individual dish. The menu suggests sharing, but the octopus dish was 2 tiny tentacles for example. We felt quite cheated there, and obviously could hardly taste the dish. The beef cheeks were also very good but a tiny portion.
Other dishes are very good, and easier to share, such as the rice crepes with mushrooms (quite good).
If they make the portions a little bigger, I'd be more enthusiastic about this restaurant.

Creative and well prepared foods. Has more of a South American influence and chili spice pallet kick than expected. But fun selection of plates for sharing and comfortable setting. Wine prices elevate dinner cost quickly.

The flavors leap off the plate--bold, vibrant, and creative without being contrived. Accept that the structure of the menu is unusual--lots of smaller plates to share, and only, at last trip, two choices for large plates (also to share). Nonetheless, the braised lamb is so deliciously succulent that everyone at our table of 4 was delighted to share it as our "large" dish. All the vegetable "smalls" are superb, especially the house special fried Brussels sprouts--yes, Brussels sprouts are cliched these days, but these stand out amongst the crowd.

This restaurant is actually more expensive than it seems at first glance. For example, a $17.00 chicken dish consists of one small chicken breast and that was about it. Two people would have to order two smaller dishes and maybe three of the medium dishes. There are large plates but they cost about $45.00 although they would feed two. Most of the menu is a type of tapas. As the the quality of the food, however, it is quite good -- although some may think it a bit too spicey.

The ambient is very interesting and original, a mix of french bistro and asian restaurant.

Food was great, not a big menu ( to me is positive meaning everything is prepared in real time) but definitely very interesting dishes.

Wine list is wonderful if you do not mind drinking only french wines

Our experiences here have been flawless. The food is incredible, the wine superb and fairly priced. There is an attention to detail that is lacking in even some fine dining restaurants. We love the beautiful food and cozy, (but never cramped,) neighborhood feel. It feels like our undiscovered gem. While I hope, for the sake of the restaurant, that it gets "discovered," I hope it never loses the casual charm.

We went to rouge et blanc with high expectations. Unfortunately, the chef had left the night before and they had an extremely limited menu. the food was good - but not exceptional. the wine list was exceptional and well priced. the owner is the wine expert and he was on the premises. He was most gracious and quite apologetic re the state of the menu. It was fun but not what we had hoped.

It has been too long since I visited this neighborhood gem in Soho. Tom, the owner and sommelier, welcomed me back like an old friend and my guests like new friends (which they soon became).

We tried every vegetable dish (I think there were 7 of them), and all we full of flavor and a few (happily) had a kick. The Brussels sprouts were so good we had to order a second batch. For the meats, the lamb dish was described by one finicky member of our group as "the best lamb I have ever eaten or dreamed of eating."

The wines, all selected by Tom, were wonderful matches for our many dishes. Also appreciated how the wines were priced so reasonably.

Sending friends to Rouge et Blanc later this month and will return ourselves ASAP.

I went there for my wife's bday and the experience was so so. Food was nothing out of ordinary but service was good until the very end when we were having hard time getting the waiter's attention for our dessert. I recommend wine and the desert here (there take on smores is amazing!) I would pass on food.

Open table listed this as an 'American' cuisine. The name sounds French, the menu seemed heavily Korean-inspired.

All influences were welcome, and the food, service, and experience were all fantastic

This was my second visit to Rouge et Blabc- I love the food here except it tends to be a on the saltier side. I wish they had a side of rice to compensate for it.
Regardless enjoyed my meal, for two people, we shared two vegetables dishes and two earth dishes plus a bottle of wine.

Highly to be recommended for a romantic date. More than once actually. This last time, we celebrated a pre-New Year's dinner with Charred Octopus, Lobster Salad, Red Chili Pork Belly, and Beef Cheeks. All paired with a nice Dom Bellier white. The plates are a little small, but still quite filling. No room for dessert... Bummer.

You'll love the ambience. The service is superb. And the food remarkable for its mixing of flavors, textures, all running riot on your palate. Bon appétit .

When I walked past Rouge et Blanc how perfect it would be for our pre-Christmas dinner party. I had never heard of the restaurant, but when I walked by one day I thought it looked intriguing. Well, from the moment we walked in the door we knew we were in for a treat. The service was lovely, the food was delicious, and the wine list strong. We shared our plates, but though the recommendation was 3-4 per person, we didn't do that many and were perfectly full. And make room for dessert. The food was unique, spicy, flavorful. I only put "very good" as value, because I know some people might find it pricey. I think it's about right for NYC and for the goodness we experienced, but if you want down pricing go to a chain. This was delicious and original and worthwhile.

Nice neighborhood spot and decent food. May or may not be to everyone's taste, so look at the menu.

My only complaint is this is a sharing menu (according to the waiter) and he didn't give good guidance on how many plates to order. We ended ordering too much food. But they were pleasant so I still give them 4 stars on service.

On the plus side, there's a sommelier

Food presentation was very good - I had not anticipated the recommendation of ordering three plates per person as it was French-Vietnamese fusion rather than Tapas. But, I am not complaining - this way I got to try several dishes. All the dishes had a degree, or several, of heat to them with everything from sweet red chili to Peruvian rocoto (I swear it was there).
Food was just outstanding!

Sweet intimate ambiance with a clever menu of small and larger plates makes for a fun evening. 2 people can do fine with 4 or 5 plates (the menu suggest 2/3 per person). Brussel sprouts, kale with diakon, duck were amazing. Wines by the glass are excellent. Service was excellent too: friendly and knowledgeable.

This is one of those gems NYC is about. It is a fusion of French Vietnamese food with accents on unusual combinations, and some real spice which is not common. The tastes are always amazing. We have been there at least 20 times and never disappointed. Recommended: brussels sprouts, carrots, fried chicken, pork shoulder, lamb, home made noodles with pork, etc. Only drawback (for me) desserts, which are not as good as they might be, but a minor complaint as the place is lovely, darkened, and terrific.

There were some really lovely small plates on the menu here, with some interesting flavours and combinations. Having said that it was really quite pricey for the size of the portions that came out, they were definitely small small plates. Service was prompt at the beginning but as the restaurant filled up it became quite lax, one of our sides was forgotten about and came after we had finished our main meat dishes.
