A bit high-end ! Quantity / portion sizes were small. Nice for a small family dinner and all, but for friends get together where you wanna spend lots of time talking and eating, perhaps Roti is not the place.

Used to go to Roti when it was in Burlingame, and loved it. It closed there a number of years ago, and we spotted it in San Mateo just recently so we thought we'd see if it is as good as we remember. Sadly, it's not. We booked for 5.30pm to avoid any rush and to accommodate our little one. Restaurant was empty, but still service was ridiculously slow. Took almost an hour to get any food to the table. Lamb korma was very average - probably had 5 pieces of lamb total. Chicken tikka was dry and over cooked. Aloo Gobi was also meh. With so many great food options in San Mateo, this one is definitely off our list.

We had a reservation as it is Valentine's Day. We were immediately seated and served. Customers received a free glass of champagne to celebrate Valentine's. The papadum was OK, but the two sauces were either too hot or too sweet. The basmati rice was light and cooked just right. The garlic and basil naan was delicious. The prawns in coconut sauce were too salty, but the sauce was excellent. The mixed tandoori was burnt, oversalted, and dry. The price was rather high, but the location is good. The servers seemed inexperienced. They could not remember which table asked for what item.

Another great meal at Roti's; thank you! The service is good once it begins, but there is a wait to order that doesn't seem to fit the small crowd!

The mixed tandoori was way over cooked and dry. The fish part was awful. couldn't eat it. The Dal makhani lentils were more of a soup then a creamy sauce. Very expensive for the quality we received. Would not recommend to anyone.

Having been here now about 4 times in the last few months, the experience is very inconsistent. Still no other Indian beer other than small Kingfisher. I can't recall an Indian restaurant that consistently does not carry Taj Mahal and Flying Horse talls. Service was funky, with a communication barrier, except for the owner and son. Also, price is as high as any Indian I've been to on the peninsula. Overall, not really worth it. Will be trying elsewhere.
