Our annual trip to Manchester always includes dinner at Rosso. The Christmas decorations are unrivalled absolutely beautiful which just add to the ambience of the lovely building.
As usual the food did not disappoint. A very varied menu with a 3 course option for the restive menu . We chose from the a la carte menu . All 4 of us were delighted with our choices , which included the calves liver , lamb cutlets and chicken . We followed this with a cheese sharing player . Good wine menu and excellent cocktails. Lovely presentation of the food good size portions with beautiful sides of veg and the service as always was efficient and polite .
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a trip to Rosso.

Appalling service - there’s 1 waiter/waitress for 10 tables. After about one and a half hour of being there and not getting our mains we politely asked to cancel our food as we weren’t even hungry anymore. The “manager” came to explain that the food was gonna be ready in 5 min. We asked him to cancel it. We told him that no one had come over to ask if we needed any more drinks, etc. His answer was: you should raise your hand for a waitress... we’re talking about a restaurant that will charge you around £70 ppm , and I need to raise my hand for a drink??? I’d expect this service in Wagamamas or Nando’s. I will not be coming back to this restaurant. If you’re looking for a good restaurant in manchester go to Gaucho, Australasia or San Carlo. Don’t even consider this place

2nd visit to Rosso
christmas lunch menu avaible at 8pm !!! so was not expecting that to be avaiable .
Table not ready until 45 mins after we arrived .
Live DJ present ,playing very loud music, which made table conversation hard , and again we were not expecting that !
having choosen the set christmas menu, this was delivered exteremly quickly ,without hardley any time between courses , we were never asked if we were ready for next course , they just arrived one after another , the portions were quite large , so we were unable to enjoy them all ,and i was unable to eat the dessert plate , as it came straight after the roast beef dinner .If we had choosen the al a carte menu, I suspect it would have been slower ,as they would have been cooked to order .The restuarnt was packed and extermely busy , which is good buisness BUT ...the overall amabiance of a high quality restuarant was lost ....Shame ,wont visit again .

the service was

We had a problem with 3 meals out of the 6 however the staff were great and solved this quickly while also giving us money back for the issues.
Beautiful inside and a lovely place to sit and eat. Very busy but service still good and timely manner.
Other meals were really enjoyed by guests and would come again.

We have been to Rosso on many occasions however slightly disappointing on a Sunday night. We understand it is close to Xmas a little later than booked sat down to our table, service slow. After waiting for desert menu husband ordered wasn’t offered coffee then when came back to clear table was told need table back have to have coffee at the bar. If service was a bit quicker and coffee offered at taking desert order. Very picky but let it down for us as your baileys coffee are amazing don’t want to sit at bar that is really busy with a coffee. Food amazing as always

Overpriced average food from sunday christmas a la carte menu. In hindsight should have tried something from other menus. Very pretentious clientelle who are obviously just there 'to be seen'! Far too noisy, couldn't even hear the background music (maybe a good thing?). Mislead from website regarding pricing of food and wine. Service was ok but best thing about the whole experience is the toilets. Enough said!

Attentive staff, lovely food, exceptionally clean and inviting but don't agree with Service Charge which seems an extra tax on enjoyment. Tipping staff is for service provided not for walking in the door. Menu's and wine list price seem deliberately faint, which is how I felt when I received the bill. All in all though we had a very good experience but as you know, being a greedy Mancunian means I want a brilliant experience.

This is a lovely building in a good location in Manchester. We chose the Christmas menu which was limited but OK. My wife ordered the soup which duly arrived and then she asked for bread. No bread available! The dessert was limited to a tasting of 3 desserts - asked for ice-cream. No ice cream available!

This is an Italian for Gods's sake! No bread and no ice cream - you're having a laugh!

Whilst staff were apologetic there's really no excuse. Hence just 3*.

Rossi’s is mine and my wife’s favourite place to dine when we visit Manchester. This was our 3rd experience and still constantly delivers to the same immaculate quality. The food is to dry for, excellent service and especially at this time of the year the Christmas decorations are immense. I cannot highly recommend this place enough...

Beautiful venue-Shame about the 20 minute wait for drinks at the bar- would not honour the opentable offer of 2 courses for 16.95 as xmas menu started today, amir the manager said he had made opentable aware that the 2 course deal was not available now, along with the wine offer and they had left out the expiry date of the offer. He said he would get compensation from opentable, but what about all the people who had reservations who turned up expecting there offer and were declined, we where not aware until we got the new £40 xmas menu at the table.
The manager had e mail and phone contact details so why not a courtesy call to let people know - there was no problem receiving confirmation and reminder contacts.
Our meal from the main menu was nice but amir and his staff at reception where unprofessional and they made us feel so uncomfortable- spoilt wedding anniversary meal.
Please find similar issues with long delays, poor staff and the attitude of the manager other reviews.
Is it worth taking a chance ?
Don’t think we will be back Rio.

It felt like we were on a triple date (like Nando’s seating) felt like couldn’t speak with my partner as we were practically sat with two other couples !!! Been a few times years ago and it’s my favourite but that upset me quite a bit, especially when I’ve been looking forward for so long for such a special occasion :( staff and food were wonderful though. Just too cramped

We’ve had some Rosso vouchers for a while and decided to use them. Me and my wife enjoyed an early evening meal on a Friday. The atmosphere is good, buzzing and lively. We had booked but did have to wait around 15mins for the table. That said the service was quick and attentive. We had pizzas which were really good. An enjoyable night.

Excellent as always. Although a little more expensive than similar restaurants in Manchester it’s worth it.

The food in most restaurants of this standard are all of a good standard, where Rosso’s stands out for me is the service. The staff are very attentive & nothing is too much trouble. Also the atmosphere is just right, unlike some restaurants the tables aren’t cramped in, they’re nicely spaced apart.

The icing on the cake is the building, part of the old banking sector, it’s stunning.

Keep up the excellent work

First time visiting Rosso. Decided to book a table for an anniversary meal after reading the reviews and was not disappointed. Got our table later than our reserved time but the restaurant was packed and we weren’t in a rush. We were able to get a seat by the bar and enjoy a couple of drinks whilst we waited for our table. The atmosphere was great and food was definitely worth the wait. Friendly staff, will be coming back with friends and would recommend to others.

The restaurant is beautiful and it does feel like a treat. The menu is extensive and the food is lovely. The service is slow.
The waiter had to ask the manager to assist with the bill (as we had a voucher) - the manager was rude and abrupt and it appeared to me that as soon as I showed a voucher he looked down his nose at us!
It definitely detracted from the night.
If you don't want people to use vouchers - don't offer them!

Waited 25 mins to be seated, not good as a first impression. First time visit nothing explained didn't know little numbered card on table for coats. Young staff but completely disinterested which is a shame, had to ask for water twice. Had set 2 course menu, some highs - Asparagus Soup, Chicken terrine, although had to order more bread. Some lows - Minted Lamb Risotto friend didn't like said far too much fat, yes we know lamb is fatty. Roasted red pepper Spatchcock lovely taste no meat mainly bones difficult to eat with knife & fork wanted to pick up with fingers!
Nice wine had 2 bottles, could have done with more sustenance to soak it up, small portions. I suggested as lifelong Man U fan, we are 3 friends who eat out quite a lot and travel to Harrogate, York, Leeds, Manchester regularly, Christmas decorations lovely but will not be rushing back Rio sorry.
