Rossini's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The motto of this place is. “No service, no smile”, Waiters are too busy practicing their disappearing act routine then taking care of customers. Retro setting, circa 1957, but modern charges, circa 2020. The attitude here is “the customer is always WRONG “. Foof is only fair and to make up for it, the service is non-existent.
Best Chicken Fiorentina ever! Two singers and piano player made for great ambience. Attentive staff. My hotel recommended this restaurant. Seems like a place where the locals go. Noise level is high and a little pricey but worth it. Will definitely go there again next time I’m in NYC.
Love this place! Food was top notch! Had appetizer Mozzarella di bufala which was quite fresh. Liked that they put the balsamic vinegar and oil on the side. Had the Petto di Pollo Parmigiana alla Rossini which was great...cooked just right and sauce was tasty but not overly spiced. Get the Cannoli! Made there...tasted great. Will be back again!!!
Our second visit to Rossini’s and it was just as fabulous as our first time, great service, great food & great atmosphere. We love the live pianist as it creates a lovely atmosphere. The Christmas decorations looked lovely too. We will certainly be back on our next visit to New York
If you want a positive memorable evening I highly recommend Rossini's. You'll have wide variety of wonderful Italian dishes and an excellent wine selection.
I had the lasagna special and my associate had the fettuccinni alfredo. We both cleaned our plates so we earned a nice shareable tartufo dessert.
Portions are enough to satisfy the hungriest of diners and delivered by attentive servers.
Background piano was not intrusive and enhanced the evening. If dinner conversation wanes you can play name that tune.
Prices were quite affordable and we were not rushed in any way.
There is a small bar as you enter if you arrive early or need to wait a bit which we did not.
Whenever we visit NYC we eat at Rossini’s. The food is consistently excellent, the waiters are attentive and friendly, and we love the ambiance, especially the pianist. We enjoy watching him play because he clearly loves it, and he is quite talented and adds his own jazz feel to every piece.
We were a little early however the staff was very accomodating and took care of us right away. The service was outstanding and very helpful and knowledgable. The food was delicious and well prepared, cooked and served. The pasta was cooked to perfection as were the lamb chop that theothers had. The environment was peaceful and very conducive to conversation although it was late afternoon (not dinner time). We were warmly welcomed and graciously treated as we left. I enjoyed the whole experience very much and will definitely be back. This was a great find.
Second time dining there - food was very good again - always busy, and louder when vocalist accompanies piano! Have recommended to others several times - introduced to Rossini's by an MLB exec who visits every city with pro baseball annually and knows good restaurants!
I usually enjoy Rossini's. The food is always flavorful, everyone is very nice, no one rushes you at all and it's very comfortable. This time, however, we were a table of 6 on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, the music and singers were just too loud for the room. It makes it difficult to have conversations.
The food was fantastic! The service was unbelievable. Possibly the best service we have ever gotten in a restaurant. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. Menu had great options, but the list of dinner specials was long and we tried one appetizer and one special and both was excellent. I would highly recommend it and we will go back!
The octopus and calamari appetizers were fine. My main course--vitello alla Francese was not good. All I could taste was lemon. Perhaps if I had ordered something else I would have a better review but with so many choices in NY, why go back. On the other hand it is an energetic spot that looks classically old school.
We arrived on time and were brought directly to a nice table in the corner. The wait staff were very accommodating. The music /singing was a nice touch , it was not too loud you could carry on a conversation . Overall very nice would recommend it to friends.
Rossini's was a delight. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a great night. We were greeted warmly by the host; he made us feel very special. The food was terrific. Old school Italian, beautifully prepared. It was a Saturday night, and there were 2 singers and a piano player. The singers had fabulous voices and sang everything from opera to showtunes to standards. There were several birthdays being celebrated and each celebrant received delicious cake and a Happy Birthday sung by the 2 singers. What a fun, wonderful, warm, friendly place!
We had friends visiting from overseas... they couldn't be happier. We were a group of eight people, everybody enjoyed their food and drinks, the live musical accompaniment was a bonus. This is always a reliable place for an evening of joy.
Too bad the older professional waiters are gone.
First time experience chosen for location and short review. We were wonderfully surprised that we were able to get in on short notice on a Sat. night with six in our party. Service was outstanding and warm. All of our varied dishes of veal, pasta, pork, and steak were perfect. The operatic singers (2) lent an ambience perfect for our group but not obtrusive. Try this place for a memorable special occasion. We had two guests from the U.K. who smiled enthusiastically for hours.
