Martini came with limes!
No capers in the veal piccata
We had to ask for everything
Very poor value for the price
Couldn’t leave fast enough !
Best Carbonara in New York!! The service is always great and my table is always ready.
This is a real hidden gem.
We had dinner on a Monday night during a business trip to the city. Great food and lovely old-time atmosphere with wait staff in tuxedos and live piano music that did not interfere with conversation. I would definitiely go back and recommend it to anyone when they are in the area.
My friend have been dining at Rossini's once a quarter for the last 2 years. Each time we have enjoyed a great meal, excellent service and ownership who cares about its customers' dining experience.
We look forward to the next quarter.
Live music with soprane and tenor vocal
Good food, quick, italian
Delicious! Great atmosphere and entertainment.
I wouldn't recommend this place to everyone, but would foe some folks. A tad disappointed with dinner. It was our anniversary and they put us on the outside bench seats, sitting side by side with a 4-top table within 2 feet in front of us, we could hear people breathing they were so close. It was very tight and cramped - there were other normal tables with twosomes seated after ours. Food was rushed and average - kind of heavy sauces, calamari marinara had an off odor - then at then end gave us a desert on a plate with happy anniversary written on it (thank you for that), but we had the worse table in the place for our anniversary. Prices were above average but normal for location, drinks were good. I probably wouldn't go back. The opera singers (Saturday night) were amazing, very nice people.
Food is very good, however, if you dine here make sure you do not get table 15. There are a couple of tables by table 15 that are bad too but perhaps not quite as bad. If seated at table 15, in one of the seats your seat will be jostled every couple of minutes by every waiter, server, & busboy in the restaurant plus as a special bonus by patrons in the area too. It is like sitting on an economy seat on a plane where someone is pounding constantly at the back of your seat. Further, that area has two additional very negative drawbacks: it is next to where they bus or store plates so its the constant sound of dishes and glasses rattling and - worst of all, they finish cooking some dishes there too and the smell of - perhaps its the oil - is very unpleasant. Run home and shower and wash your hair and send clothes immediately to the cleaners to get rid of the smell. Its like spending a lot of money to sit in the middle of a noisy, smelly, busy kitchen. Stick to eating at the front bar or the lower level if you don’t mind a few stairs.
Really enjoyed this authentic Italian restaurant. Staff was great and so was the food
Service and food were excellent. I would go back. Highly recommend.
I made a reservation two weeks before the day, but I noticed after they seated me that they have placed me in an area with the walk ins. I didn’t want to make a big commotion halfway through our date. But in the end of the dinner, I tried to find someone and asked why we weren’t placed inside. We talked briefly but he said it could be full, which is not true because I saw numerous amount of people go in during the same time I did. He also said I had to reserve a week in advance, which I thought I already did two weeks in advance. What aggravated me more was the fact that I was labeled a “no-show” when in reality I did come, I went in told them I had a reservation but the person bringing us to our table did not bother to check in the reservation details. This is not at all professional and I am disappointed in how it turned out. The food was great. I had the filet mignon and it was flavorful and soft. The pasta was creamy and had the right amount of taste to dress the linguine. The salmon appetizer we had was served perfectly with the side pieces to complement the taste of the salmon. The server was nice but the overall experience was affected by the way we were seated. I took a look inside and the difference was drastic. My girlfriend did not like the bar smell and how we were seated right at the entrance door. Overall, we did not like the experience and most likely not be recommending it to anyone.
Thank you so much for making our anniversary so special and memorable. The service and food were both excellent, and the dining room is perfect for a special occasion/date night and also for a nice night out with friends. We will be back!
Been going here over 20 years and my family and I love Rossini’s. Best authentic Italian food in NYC.
A quiet, classy ambiance. I was there for a business meeting and the quiet environment was very conducive to the business discussion. I could easily see this as an excellent choice for a romantic dinner.
Average food nothing amazing, expensive, rude service.
Rossini’s is a wonderful restaurant with great food! The staff take pride in making the experience special. The piano player and singers are a amazing!
An excellent experience. Have eaten there many times-they never lose their touch! Great!
Rossini's is a good restaurant, but it was being portrayed during NYC Restaurant Week as "exceptional". Granted we ordered from the restaurant week menu, so perhaps my take on it isn't wholly accurate. The salmon carpaccio was excellent and the eggplant parmesan my friend had looked tasty , but my veal medallions were only average. The dessert choices were only spumoni and cannoli and neither were anything to write home about. I have nothing against Rossini's, it was simply a local Italian restaurant that didn't stand out as being particularly special.
Food and service very good.
The food and service are tops at this wonderful neighborhood gem. The specials can be pricy so be aware but they are awesome. Always a great meal and time here.
Great food and great service! Really enjoyed the whole experience - was pretty crowded for a Tuesday!
Incredibly warm and welcoming. Food was terrific and the singers were great - nothing like sitting in a 40+ year old restaurant, hearing classics performed live and eating great food. Will be back.
The food and service was good. The ambiance a little too forced. I don't need someone moving my chair or putting the napkin on my lap. It was also a little too dark for my tastes, but the food was good, and the service as well.
Service and food both outstanding. Unfortunately we agreed to a table near the pianist which made conversation virtually impossible. Next time we will request a table at the other side of the dining room.
Continues to deliver high quality and service. My go to place!
Consistently great any time I’ve come here. A neighborhood gem.
The food is delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Food, as well as everything else, was great! Will definitely go back!
Based on all the positive Yelp writeups, I was expecting a more formal sort of restaurant, ie Capital Grille-type. Sadly, the place is shabby, crowded, and awkward. The entrance is through an empty bar area that is dark and smells of disinfectant. The seating for two people is very awkward - sitting side-by-side on a bench looking out at the rest of the dining room, rather than face to face. My husband's setting of silverware had a dirty fork and knife. The food is quite good - we had linguini with clams which was in a very nice, light sauce that wasn't overwhelmed by garlic. We skipped ordering any alcohol, as they charge $18.00 for one GLASS of wine. We shared a fruit tart for dessert which was nice but didn't taste home-made. Our waiter disappeared so we had to flag down a different guy to bring us the check. So, two people, sharing an entree, plus a salad and dessert got us out of there for $80.00 including tip. I would not return.
Always a great experience!
The pasta dishes were OK, but definitely not the best ones I've ever had. The non-pasta dishes, however, were outstanding and definitely worth the visit. Service was a little sloppy at first, but then got better as the night went on.
The place itself is very classy and the live piano music make a perfect combination for a good old-fashioned night.
just absolutely ridiculous by the man who seated us. Was extremely aggressive toward my aunt to make her check her jacket (it was freezing outside and she was cold) and when she calmly explained, he said it was a “rule” that they didn’t allow jackets on the back of chairs. We looked across the dining room to about 50% of the tables w a person w a jacket on their chair and before they got into it, I diffused the situation and we were seated. Then just the slowest service ever. My aunt was about to chant racism cause we’re indian and it was mostly Caucasian clientele but I wasn’t going to escalate an already dumb situation.
We’ve been coming to Rossini’s for more than 20 years. We are never, EVER disappointed! The food and the service is outstanding. Such a wonderful experience!
I love this place! the food is delicious and the staff is as pleasant as the atmosphere..
All around fantastic experience. Loved my chicken dish!
Great neighborhood restaurant with more than a touch of elegance. Don’t miss Saturday night! Live opera, show tunes, and more.
I really enjoy Rossini’s. The food is always fantastic and the servers polite and personable. The only thing I do not like at all is the Saturday night entertainment. The room is too small (low ceilings) to have loud operatic singing. I enjoy talking to my fellow table mates and you have to speak over the loud singing (or not talk at all).
Great food and service-a great place to try something new or different
Excellent food. A little pricey but exceptional dishes. Their fish and veal dishes are superb. People r very gracious.
