Rosie O'Grady's Ratings and Reviews
Perfect venue for attending afternoon theater performances. The staff was accommodating and the food was wonderfully comforting and the Key Lime pie was one of the best I can remember having it in a long time. Not bad for people watching either. We were fortunate to be seated near a window and the views onto Seventh Avenue provided some interesting observances. The nicest thing was because of the surprising lack of traffic we actually ended up arriving early. No one rushed us and they could not have been more gracious and accommodating
We split a large fillet steak. It was amazing and such good value for money. Crowded on a Tuesday night with a great buzz. A friend who wasn't eating with us was allowed to sit and have a glass of wine with us until the food came. Serving staff were relaxed and friendly. Would definitely come back on our next visit to New York.
This was my third time at ROG's. It was my first dinner. The food was very good. The service was just OK, but I think it may have been because our waiter was covering both outside and inside tables. It is a tad pricey, but similar to other restaurants in the area (maybe even a little less expensive). Lots of seafood on the menu. I am allergic to shellfish, so that limited the options for me, but my grilled salmon was a generous portion, fresh, and well prepared. My friend's burger looked amazing. And she said it was very good as well. I suggest that if you are going to have an appetizer and dessert that you give the pre fixe menu a good look. It is a good value, I think. (We ordered a la carte, because we were not having dessert, and I did not have an appetizer.)
Dinner was good. Hostess seemed distracted and did not offer desert menu. Requested window seating, when we got there our table was behind a huge post. They did not want to reseat us by the window table and did not seem to care much. Reservations were clear and made ahead of time.
Not a satisfied customer.
I have been here before for the prix-fixe lunch and so returned -made a 3 pm Sat. reservation for two and requested a table or booth by window. We arrived at 3 and the host promptly started walking us to a table in middle of restaurant. I said I had written in my opentable request for a window table-she apologized and asked if we minded waiting for one. This irks me. And it is NOT the first eating establishment that DOES NOT read the special requests part in the opentable reservation.
Fortunately, after sitting at the bar for about 20 minutes, we were seated and oredered from the prix-fixe menu (salad or soup, entree and dessert for &27.95 pp) The sliced sirloin with roasted potatos and spinach was EXCELLLENT, as well as spouse's chicken piccatta.-generous portions on both meals and the steak was tender and tasty.. All in all, definitely worth the price. Waitstaff were efficient, attentive (but not TOO much) and pleasant. ONE thing- $8.00 for a Michelob Ultra?? I realize it's Manhattan but we have been to other places there and beer was between 5 and 6 dollars a bottle.
Pre theater dinner. We arrived late and maitre de assured us that he would get us to our show on time. Staff was quick and efficient. Food arrived quickly and as ordered. We were a table of 6 had the pre-fixe and made it to our show in 1 hour 10 minutes.. Impressive and even had some drinks.
Stopped by for lunch before an afternoon matinee at the theater. Typical NYC prices, but the food and service were well worth it. My wife's cheeseburger was huge, cooked exactly as she wanted it. Generous portion of fries. My open steak sandwich was supplied with ample amounts of steak cooked the way I specified, crispy onion rings and again a geneWrous portion of fries. We'll definitely be stopping there on our next trip to NYC>
We showed up early (10 min) and the host wandered around for awhile, then returned and said we were early, so go wait at the bar. Someone will get you. 20 min later, after seeing several others seated, I returned to the host and asked him why. He looked at the list and told me he just forgot. When we finally got a table, a bus boy slapped some bread on the table, nearly hitting my wife, and says nothing, disappeared. Our waiter was abrupt and dismissive, took our orders and disappeared. He never checked on us throughout the meal, until he asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu. We said yes, and asked for coffee and water refills, to which he replied, "yeah, yeah, yeah." For what we paid, it wasn't worthwhile. The filet mignon tasted like liver. At least the desserts were ok. But for NY cheesecake, it was generic. I wrote the manager about all of the evening, including the dismissive attitude of the host. I asked the host if I could speak to a manager, at which point the host told me HE was a manager. I smiled, handed him the note and said goodbye. No. I would not recommend it.
