Rosie McCann's - Santana Row Ratings and Reviews
There is a reason this place was empty for brunch. The inside smelled like bleach and stale beer. Outside was okay. The menu offers a lot of potential. But the execution of the food was subpar. Irish breakfast food is SO YUMMY, but this please is Irish in name only. Would not recommend.
We wait too long to make an order, nobody wants to come to us, but every waitress saw that we are ready to order some food. They just skipped us. It was really bad.
We were with the kids, and we were waiting about 30 minuets our order. Kids started screaming. Thank goodness for the administrator of this pub. She is like an angel, she do her job excellent. Food is really good!!!! But other services are not.
And one more thing, your waitresses should ask if need a separate check.
Went to Saturday brunch as it is one of the few places in the area that takes brunch reservations. It took two requests to get hot water & when it arrived it was luke warm in a glass instead of a coffee mug. The food was ok, not bad. But no spread or preseves for toast. It was very slow yet no one bothered to refill our drinks for 20 minutes. Second time I go and both times the service was quite poor. Probably best to stick to the night life version of this restaurant.
We came just as the place was switching to bar mode. However, the staff was very nice and sat us in the restaurant area instead of the bar. They were very courteous and attentive. The only issue was the level of the music. But that was becuase they had switched to bar mode.
We went to have some Irish stew...last night being with our daughter before her first classes of college started. Service was great, extremely friendly, warm, and honest. The daily menu surprised me as it was the last night of the Latin American Holiday, so the Irish pub was serving South of the Border dishes. Ignoring that, the Irish stew was very good, warming, hot, and tasty! The shepherd's pie was also very delicious with completely different seasonings than the stew...which is a very good sign. We were stuffed but my husband had to have creme brulee for dessert. It was different...not his favorite, but my daughter said it was quite tasty. It was just not the typical super soft milky custard; it was a little more firm and more egg tasting.
Great meal all around!
The salmon and chips and chicken piccata were delicious. Our green salad starter was very fresh and delicious also. I substituted veggies for the chips which were sauteed with garlic and yummy as well. The salmon panko breading was crisp and much lighter and more flavorful than battered ,and the wasabi aoli made the meal. Our server, Nikolas, was very attentive and accommodating. We dined on the patio which got dark for the nighttime dj and dancing, but it was much quieter dining outside.
All interactions from the hostess' greeting to the final check were friendly and appropriately fun.
Menu was varied and food was well prepared and delicious.
Service was unpretentious and friendly and our server was attentive but not invasive.
My only suggestions would be to expand the tapas offerings and improve the indoor acoustics. The website does advertise tapas, but not in the popular style of tapas dishes offered by other, local tapas bars and restaurants.
The small and shared plates were great, but not really tapas.
The inside seating area was uncomfortably loud even though there were only 4 guests at the bar at the time. So we chose outside seating and it was lovely!
It was a quality meal and, overall, a wonderful experience!
I was very dissappointed in the food. Overall tasteless. My son and I both ordered Corned Beef and Cabbage. Literally no taste to the corned beef or cabbage. The vegetable were too undercooked and the potatoes tasted like left overs from the previous day. I'll be looking for an alternative Irish restaurant.
I was very impressed with this place. We sat outside and it was wonderful. Our waiter was very friendly and for two people we got a great amount of food for a great price! I would recommend this to all my friends. I will for sure be coming back.
Rosie is more popular as bar and night club and isn't as busy as dinner venue compared to other restaurants on Santana Row but the food is actually very good. I had the mahi mahi which was moist and perfectly seasoned and my daughter really enjoyed her Hawaiian burger. The chocolate molten lava cake for dessert was also delicious. We were seated in patio area close to heat lamp which was very pleasant space. The great service rounded out our wonderful dining experience.
Not so good food and appetizers. Calamari was drenched in oil out of the fryer. Poor cut of filet mignon, barely a sirloin quality. Burgers arrived cool, we watched a server bring them out, wander around the patio and head back to the kitchen. Then he showed up five minutes later with the same tray of food after it had chilled. Great prices on happy hour drinks.
After reviewing the dinner menu online I decided to reserve and drive to Rosie's for dinner around 7 pm. I walked in and the place was empty and didn't smell great, but I had a reservation, and felt obligated. I quickly discovered the online dinner menu posted was wrong, everything is $8 to $10 dollars more so any business meal per diem won't work. My fellow business travelers know... that's a big deal. So instead of the "perfect fillet" they advertised for $29 I settled for corned beef and cabbage (it's an Irish pub after all) and it was most likely was the worst meal I ever had, or in the top 3. Even the beer was warm.
Only kudos was to the server. She was nice. I would never recommend this place.
Even though I have had so much luck discovering great places on open table, my time was up for a horrible meal. Sorry for the negative review, but I will never step foot in there again.
Had several work meetings nearby and had enough time for a quick but not fast food lunch! It was a quiet day in the mall area so we drove over. We ordered fish and chips and it was lightly battered, just the way it should be. Portion was perfect sized. Good value for lunch at $14. Cheesecake for dessert was good too. Our server was friendly and checked in with us several times during our meal which was nice. The lunch menu and appetizers are value priced at lunchtime. Easy parking in the structure and Santana Row is a beautiful setting. Looking forward to coming again.
I had made a reservation for 7 guests ad 9:30 am. This event was for Mothers Day Brunch. Our waitress, Lauren, was a delight. Absolutely friendly and accommodating. Our single problem was the restaurant manager, Bobby. We had a party of 7 and when we arrived, they had a table put together of 3 (2) person tables stacked next to each other. We immediately knew that this would not accommodate our group. We asked if we could move one of the 2 person tables from the table next to us. Lauren immediately said "of course" and this comfortably accommodated our group and we sat down and started our Mother day brunch. Approximately 45 minutes into our event, Bobby came abruptly over to our table In a panic and motioned that he was going to remove this table that he needed it for another group. We immediately stated that this was not possible since our event had already been started, he couldn't possibly think we could crowd our plates/coffee's and make us compromise our arrangements. He was unprofessional, rude and extremely abrupt with expecting a paying group on somewhat meaning full day to accommodate his need. I was seriously upset with him.
A few minutes later, he brought over another 2 person table to put with that table to accommodate a table of 4. I spoke with Lauren at the end of our brunch and I told her that she was a wonderful waitress and made our breakfast very enjoyable. She is an extremely friendly, polite, and cheerful woman who went out of her way to accommodate our family.
I will be notifying Bobby's supervisor as well. As a manager of such a popular restaurant in Santana Row, I would expect much better customer service. He made an attempt to apologize to us as we were leaving the building. We did not accept his apology. He should have come over to the table and apologized to our entire group. Also, the coffee was served cold. We won't be back. Lauren was more accommodating than Bobby. He was rude!...period!
The food and service were excellent. It had been a number of years since I had a meal at Rosie McCanns and I was happy that the food, service and ambiance were just as good as it was in the past. My only surprise was that the dining area was not crowded during the lunch hour (as it was in the past) but maybe it was just an off day. The Bar was full so that is a good sign. I will continue to eat and drink at Rosie's and recommend it to others.
Decided to book a birthday brunch for 5 of us at 10:30am on a Sunday. It was early enough that there were not many people there so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was INCREDIBLY friendly throughout our entire meal. She paid special attention to the birthday girls' bottomless mimosa. Our food was fantastic, piping hot when it arrived and we devoured every delicious bite.
After our meal our waitress brought the dessert menu for the birthday girl to choose a dessert from (bread pudding, TO DIE FOR). Even after out plates were cleared and after paying, we stayed to chit chat for another 45 minutes. There was no rush for us to leave as we were clearly enjoying our time together, and she continued to pour us mimosas until we left. The service was incredible, and I wish I had gotten our waitresses name as she made my first visit there a fantastic one. I will definitely be back, especially since I couldn't order the entire menu in one sitting.
