Rosie McCann's - Santana Row Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I decided to try Rosies on a Thursday night for an early dinner. The place was pretty empty, more of a bar crown that day. We ordered our dinner and it was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised that a pub had such good health food as well. The Salmon was SO GOOD!
Desert my husband wanted bread pudding. We almost said forget it after waiting 20+ minutes for it. It was delicious as well, and worth the wait in the end, a heads up about how long it was going to take would of been nice. Great food though!
We book a late night dinner and found out the bar becomes a dance bar after 10 pm. So we had dinner and walked over to the dance floor and enjoyed a few more drinks and some dancing before calling it a night. The age range of the patrons was from their early twenties to late fifties I would guess. All having a good time.
I have been wanting to try this place for years, but never got a chance. I was under the impression it would be Irish food; this was also a mistake. It had about 5 dishes that were "Irish" and besides those you had your pick from American, Mexican, Italian, Hawaiian... take your pick. Since I was adament on getting some Irish food at an Irish Pub I had the sausage. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular. The service was a little less than average. All-in-all I will not be going here again. I would much rather go to Left Bank.
3rd time the charm?!
Sadly no! Service gone from Good to Awful.
Waitress only came to visit first welcome.
2nd give my appetizer order,
3rd never came back to order my main entree or even checkup.
3 tables across me, their waiter stops by every 5 minutes to chat and orders. While I am out cold sitting waiting for mine, for 20 minutes...
Least my appetizer sweet potatoes fries are tasty!
My sister and I had brunch on Saturday, Nov 7, 2015. It was our first visit and neither of us have gone to many Irish pubs so were looking forward to the experience. We laughed a bit at the hostess as she seemed to have no clue where to sit people. We are both large women and she wanted to first sit us at a very small table and then at one with high chairs. Not a match. Later I watched her try to sit another couple (probably 50s or so) at the same high table, also not a match. Hopefully she'll get better at gauging that sort of thing. Our waitress, Rachel, was awesome. She answered all our questions and was very responsive to our needs. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My lamb stew was delicious, if a bit spicier than I was expecting (it's Irish food, after all, but I guess different than English pub fare). I can handle the spice, but my sister's potatoes were inedible for her (also spicy with no warning that they might be). Her poached eggs were hard cooked instead of soft cooked. Normally we don't send a lot of food back, but it was really not what she wanted, so we did. Again Rachel was great about it and replaced the plate, with hash browns this time. The eggs were just right and we then both enjoyed our meal. Also, the coffee was really good. Often restaurant coffee is watery and bland, but this had good flavor. It was not busy at that time of the day which may have helped us get such good service, so aside from the snafu of my sister's first plate, it was a good experience.
I celebrated my Birthday here recently. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I had steaks that were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Everything came out of the kitchen hit and fresh. After the meal they brought out my creme brule with a candle and they sang with us. We had a fantastic time. We will be back again soon.
The hostess was very nice, and seated us away from the television, because we wanted to talk rather than watch the game. Our server was a great combination of being attentive, while not being intrusive. Drinks were refilled promptly, and she was able to answer all of our questions.
I had something I hadn't had before: tartar sauce with capers in it, and it was really delicious on the fish & chips. We also had the Irish Nachos, and those were great, too. Everything you'd expect, but on fried potato slices. One platter was enough for the 3 of us.
We'll definitely be going back.
We went to Rosie McCann's for Sunday brunch and had a great time. Food was very good, and our server was a lot of fun. Outdoor seating on a summer morning was really nice, and adds to the ambiance. No doubt I'll return again, and want to see the vibe during an evening.
I have eaten at a few restaurants on Santana Row when in the area for work. When I had a chance to be in the area with my wife as we were celebrating our 29th anniversary, I thought it would be nice to try a new place on Santana Row. I found Rosie McCann's on OT and was happy to find a reservation that worked for us. When we got there, our table was waiting for us. The first thing I noticed was how overwhelmingly loud it was. I wish I would have known the place is more about being a sports bar than it is about being a restaurant. It was playoff basketball time and the crowd was loud and obnoxious. The server was really slow, letting us sit for almost thirty minutes after we were seated to come take our order. She never did ask if we wanted any drinks. Thankfully the bus boy got us water or we may not have had anything. When Sarah, the server, finally took our order she still didn't ask us if we wanted anything besides water. I would have liked to try one of the nitrogen stouts, but I didn't feel like doing her job for her. I was up for appetizers too, but she never offered, so we just ordered a couple of filets. The steaks were good, if overpriced for what you get, but that was the only positive thing about the experience. We were finished for another thirty minutes with no sign of Sarah. I finally waved down a manager who, when I asked her about dessert recommendations, mentioned the cupcake place and a bakery elsewhere on Santana Row. Really? They have a dessert menu at Rosie McCann's but she cannot even make a recommendation from her own menu? I finally asked her to track down our check so we could leave. I know the food service industry can be tough on servers and bus staff, so I didn't stiff them on a tip. I left a 20% tip when my soul was screaming not to because the service was so bad. I cannot give this place a bad enough review.
