LOVED the food and the service!!
The chairs at the tables near the bar though are very uncomfortable
Rosebud is a beautifully designed space offering a wide variety of food and an extensive beer list. The atmosphere is festive and cozy and the same time. The food was excellent. The bar space was also well designed and would be a fun place to hang out for drinks.
Awesome cockail (Chili Bird), lively atmosphere, decent food.
Menu is eclectic, and generally quite tasty and out of the ordinary. Love the booth seating and that they have kept the historic diner intact and preserved the ambiance in certain sections. Staff always friendly and service was outstanding as we needed to make it quick to make a film nearby. Often bring out of town guests here for something different.
Staff that served us very robotic; impersonal. Wouldn't seat us because we were early. Sent us to the bar then never came to get us. Never felt welcomed or appreciated as a paying guest.
Had an excellent brunch while visiting our son in Somerville. Classic diner look on the outside but much larger when you walk inside. Service was great and French toast was delicious. Highly recommend trying the donuts.
We had a great time at Rosebud's. Made a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes within the scheduled time (a one hour wait for a table without a reservation). The food was awesome; chicken and waffles, mushroom and gruyere omelet, brisket benedict and the drinks truly notable. Four of us for Sunday brunch, great vibe, easy and relaxed.
Awesome and delicious food and cocktails, love the decor
I've had good experiences at Rosebud, but several things were off today. The waitstaff then removed it without comment. My friend is gluten free, but there were no options for her to eat and the waitstaff seemed unwilling to assist or facilitate any menu alterations. She ended up eating a burger on a few leaves of salad, which made her ill for several hours after. My friend also asked for a side of bacon, it arrived burned. The kitchen staff who delivered it said, "This is fine, right?" The bacon was nearly inedible. She was also brought the wrong drink.
My french toast was just ok--huge blackberries in a watery, thin sauce.
I don't think I'll be back unless I have a very large group looking to eat brunch.
Server ignored us for 15 minutes before taking our drink orders. The Moroccan stew was really bland and too expensive for what it's worth.
Loved it! Great spot for an impromptu Friday date. Looking forward to going back and trying more off their inventive menu. Do not skip dessert!
I have mixed feelings about my overall experience. The food was pretty good and the staff accommodated checking the food for allergies. Our waiter was great and had fantastic recommendations. However, the evening ended on a sour note. I made reservations for five with my out of town guests to eat, drink, and enjoy each other's company on a Thursday evening. We were still ordering drinks and eating dessert when we were told to hurry up so the next reservation could sit down. It was embarrassing for me as the host and organizer of the outing and disappointing to be treated so poorly considering we ordered appetizers, dinner, and desserts with constant drinks. My sister asked the hostess after we left why we were pushed out of the restaurant and was given the excuse that the next reservation was for a table in the bar for trivia. Please note that the trivia was finishing up the third of four rounds of questions and none of the other tables appeared to be still ordering drinks or snacks as we passed on our way out of the restaurant. Lastly, we were not offered any additional accommodations. Sadly, I'm not sure I would recommend this restaurant after being treated like this or personally make a return visit to the restaurant.
UPDATE: The general manager reached out to me to find out more information about the incident. She profusely apologized and ensured me that the policies have been changed to address some of my concerns. She was extremely helpful, considerate, and open to suggestions. Her excellent customer service made me change my mind and plan to give this or one of the restaurants from this group another go.
We have been here several times and are always happy with the food. But the NOISE LEVEL is just a bit over the top. Of course, we were there on Saturday night......
Restaurant in the street side diner part was far too loud
From start to finish we were disappointed. I was glad I tried it out before bringing friends to this restaurant as now I will not return.
Terrible service that took forever.
Enjoyed our meal at Rosebud! The dining car is somewhat deceptive -- it's a huge restaurant but with nice seating areas. Food is great - we had Benedict Florentine, Smoked Chicken and Poblano Hash, and a Veggie Frittata. Mimosa and coffee were also great. Try it!
We met a friend from out of town for dinner a few night's ago, and had a great time. Our daughters loved sitting in the dining car! Our waiter was friendly and full of suggestions about what we should order. The food was terrific - and we really enjoyed the pie, too.
Great brunch! Have been here for dinner a few times and have always loved it, brunch is just as good! Upscale American type fare.
This was probably the 6th time I had been to Rosebud and this time was the worst in terms of food and ambiance. The smoked wings which are usually awesome were dry and not flavorful at all and the ribs were chewy like they needed a few more hours in the smoker to make them tender and to let the fat breakdown. All in all, I am willing to go back because of previous experience, but this was not very good.
Great food and atmosphere! Definitely recommend brunch here.
Good food and ambiance
Good food, fun vibe, always enjoy the Rosebud for any occassion.
Food was amazing as per usual. But the waiter was kind of short/rude. The desert and food is still incredible.
We had a great evening. We arrived on-time for our reservation, and were promptly seated. The appetizers, entrees an desserts were all great, as were the new Fall cocktails.
Awesome menu and excellent staff. I'm looking forward to coming back!
Anyone not going to Rosebud for brunch is seriously missing out. Great drinks, awesome food choices that aren't just your average brunch dishes. Their smoke agave chicken wings were to die for(sounds weird for brunch but these are fantastic. Great service, great ambiance.
Rosebud is always a great spot for a small brunch group or date. Their pricepoint is a little high for the area and product but the food is great. Service is a hit or miss during their busy brunch time but if you're not in a rush I highly recommend it.
Food was food but is delivered in gluttonous portions. Everything is just too much. Sat at the bar on a different visit and were wondering if the bartender would ever ask what we wanted. Terrible service. Food could be food but it’s just over the top. Vibe is too kitschy.
went to rosebud with my partner and my parents for a very belated father's day dinner. i've always known davis to be a pain for parking but we went right when they opened for dinner at 5pm on a saturday and had no issues finding street parking around the corner. (just be aware the max is 2hrs on the meters.) one slight negative was that i had called earlier to confirm the reservation and asked that we get one of the booths in the diner car, and was told that was fine & they'd make a note, but they sat us in the regular restaurant part. also, for some reason they were doing oktoberfest in september? not a big fan of the silly german music playing the whole time but not a huge deal.
our waitress was awesome - some of us are very indecisive and she was so patient and never seemed annoyed, and she offered help deciding without being pushy or making us feel rushed at all. and every recommendation she made was totally on point. the portions might seem small but they are more than enough, and delicious too - everyone loved their meal (ribs, fried chicken, hangar steak, fish & chips) and my dad was the only one able to clean his plate. if i had one complaint, the 'creamy coleslaw' was just dry cabbage that didn't taste like anything, but i didn't order my meal for the coleslaw so it wasn't a big deal. we closed the meal with a couple slices of pie - my mom wasn't crazy about the blueberry crumb, but i got strawberry rhubarb and really enjoyed it. lots of great beers to choose from (my dad liked the one he got so much he stuck with it and had three) and their cocktails are outstanding - everything sounded amazing but i narrowed it down and tried both the "where there's smoke" and the "lunch car #773". others that caught my eye were one with bourbon and strawberry puree, and another with grilled pineapple mezcal. we lingered awhile after paying the bill and never felt rushed out. my parents even called later that night to say what a good time they had. we'll be back!
Dried out ribs. Inattentive service. No steak knife. Front (former diner) noise level is deafening. Bill dropped off before even asked if we wanted dessert.
A friend and I met for dinner. I had requested a quiet table when I booked, not having been to Rosebud before, but I'm not sure there is a quiet table here on a Friday night. The whole place is very lively and I needed to lip-read eventually.
The service was friendly, the menu had lots of good choices and our dinners arrived very quickly. I'd definitely go back again.
Great brunch. One of the best burgers in the Boston area.
Wow, I don't normally order sandwiches but I keep going back for the Texas Rachel in a Skirt. Smoked brisket with a skirt of toasty cheese, coleslaw, horseradish dressing and carmelized onions. Probably the best sandwich I've ever had! No need to try anything else in my book. Drinks are quite good, pricey, so three Manhattans and a glass of wine set us back $50, but that's what you get in the big city, I guess.
Service was underwhelming from bored hostess who greeted us to waitress giving us a tiny table and bartender not listening to our request and instead assuming there was apple sauce when there was none. Overall bad experience.
The food was very good. The table -- a set of three 2-tops pushed together -- was much less so. For parties of 5 or more it would be preferable to have no more than two people on a side. The person in the middle of the bench was stuck, and also had a hard time talking with people on either side without getting neck strain. The people at the ends of the 3-sided bench had a hard time talking with those diagonally opposite.
A MUCH better configuration would have either a circle, or else two people on each side of the table and one at one of the ends.
Ambience was fine, though not exceptional. Food was great if you like the distinctive flavors of the American south.
We love Rosebud, but on this particular day we were disappointed, the kitchen was really slow and the waiter distracted. Part of our meal was at no charge because there were so many issues. Hope that was an anomaly. We will try again another time
Good food and good service! We were a bigger group and they were able to accommodate us on a busy night .
Told them it was our anniversary and they brought us a champagne toast to start off the meal. Food is always good there no matter what.
We are regulars at Rosebud because it is exceptional. The food and drinks are outstanding and it's a fun place to be. However, tonight our service was terrible.
