Rose Tattoo Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed. Have loved the restaurant for years, and have come for many special occasions. This time, however, the food was not up to par, and seemed quite over-priced for the level of quality and quantity received. The mushroom soup, always a favorite, was not nearly as good as usual; the aged provolone app was singularly uninteresting; and the calamari were as rubbery as rubber bands. For $9, the Caesar salad was some lettuce, a few croutons, and a hard piece of what was supposed to be garlic bread that had no taste at all. Do not intend to go back, and would not recommend to friends at this point.
The Rose Tattoo is our "go to". The food is aways really very good and reliable. The simple Wedge salad is elevated! It's served at the right cold temperature with a perfectly cooked egg and crisp, bacon. The fresh house-made pasta is delicious especially with the clams in white broth. The Chef's specials are well conceived and imaginative.
We used to eat at RTC more often when we lived in the city. We recently have eaten there a few times before a music event that started later in the evening. We we so happy that the food remains still good after all of these years. We're looking forward to the next time.
My husband and I took our 95 year-old aunt to dinner. She has a great deal of trouble hearing. I requested the quietest table and they obliged. It was a pleasure to be able to talk and to have our aunt be comfortable. The waitress couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. And the food was all delicious. We were so grateful to have had such a pleasant experience.
We frequently go to Rose Tattoo before attending an Author Event at the Library. We went again earlier this week and we were disappointed - not in the quality of the food. It was good, as usual. But "usual" is the problem. The menu has not changed in forever and the "daily special flatbread" was the same "daily special flatbread" it has been very single time we've been there. If you don't go frequently or are looking for a new place in Fairmont, I strongly recommend Rose Tattoo. We, however, will be looking for someplace new.
This is one of our favorite places. It was my boyfriend’s birthday but he was disappointed that the menu had been changed and his favorite meal was gone and they were unable to accommodate. It was slow in there but we were seated right between two other 2-tops instead of allowing us to spread out. The people around us were having loud conversations so our fave place was a bummer tonight.
We're from out-of-town but visit Philly occasionally. We had tried the Rose Tattoo on our last stay a few years ago and found it an excellent value. We were happy to find that it still is --
good food, reasonable prices, and charming ambiance. We'll be back!
I was pleased that I was able to make a reservation online several weeks in advance, since I was meeting family there. So many restaurants don't let you reserve for small parties. I was concerned about parking but there turned out to be a municipal lot across the street with plenty of parking even on a Friday night. We were seated right away even though two of our party were running late. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, everything was great.
Had not been to the Rose Tattoo in several, maybe 15 years. Had a poor experience after many trips and did not have the opportunity to return. Food and service were excellent this time. Just thought the bill was a bit pricey. Might be why the restaurant was relatively empty. definitely worth driving here if you have deep pockets......
I ordered the salmon with shrimp and lump crab meat.
The salmon was small (not eaven 6 oz.), though tasty and cooked the way I requested, accompanied by one small shrimp a little bit of crab.
The dish was described as being more sumptuous.
My friend ordered a filet which came with a lovely array of veggies. I would have liked those veggies to have been served with my dish instead of getting all green beans.
All in all, not worth the price.
Great Dinner. WE had the lamb chops as appetizers and they are so delicious....we also had a pasta dish, ribs, shrimp, jambalaya and scallops. Everything was tasty and super big portions. Also the mushroom soup is the BEST!!!! Thank you for a delicious evening.
I'm originally from Philly and always enjoyed the experience in the past. My recent visit will be my last. I felt rushed by the server and the food was fair. They gave me a scribbled hand written receipt and when I asked for an itemized receipt (I paid on my corporate card) it was a struggle and the server had an attitude. This was to be a nice place and it's a shame that it's gone down so much.
I had no expectations going in. I had walked past The Rose Tattoo for years and never thought about dining there. Well, my loss! We had tickets to a Free Library Author Event and wanted to eat beforehand. On a whim, I made reservations for The Rose Tattoo.
I was surprised as soon as I walked through the door. It is so quaintly beautiful inside! I had no idea they had two bars. (Okay, I didn't know they had ONE bar...) I had a cocktail at the bar before dinner and it was fantastic (Elixir Manhattan). I was not the only one at the bar having one, so others share my opinion. The bartender was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The food was really excellent too. As was the service. Again, very attentive without being intrusive. We had to leave for an event, so we could not linger and enjoy the ambiance (and the dessert menu), but The Rose Tattoo felt like a place where you could sit and really take you time enjoying your meal.
We will definitely return. But next time, we will make sure we have enough time to really take advantage and enjoy this wonderful gem.
