Rosanjin is not your typical Japanese restaurant. The concept was inspired by Rosanjin Kitaoji, a Japanese food artist, and was brought to life by owner Jungjin Park. This upscale restaurant serves meals using the Japanese art of Kaiseki; serving eight small courses in carefully timed intervals. The warm colors on the walls and the minimalist furniture allow the beautifully presented dishes to be the stars of the show
The eight course menu at Rosanjin is available at a variety of price points. Executive chef Kazuki Shimazaki creates dishes from fresh ingredients either flown in from Japan daily, or grown locally. The dishes are presented on gorgeous porcelain plate ware brought in from Japan. The unique presentation and cuisine makes Rosanjin a popular dining spot in Tribeca.

The experience my husband and I had while dining at Rosajin was exceptional. We had never been to a traditional Japanese restaurant and this did not disappoint. We tried the 9 course Kaiseki option and it was the perfect amount. We loved everything about this restaurant!!!
My wife and I went on our anniversary looking for a culinary experience as good as Nobu but more interesting. Not even close. We chose the $200 kaseiki over the $150 version and probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Plus the ambiance was ruined by the fact that everyone was depressed because the place is closing! On the plus side: the server was nice, the food was generally good (but not great) and the sake pairing was very good! I couldn't recommend for the price (but moot anyway since it's closing).
This place is the real deal....when we arrived, only Japanese patrons were in the restaurant, which to me, is a good sign. Traditional Kaiseki style and the 5 course meal (at $80 per person) was a bit pricey for what was served. Restaurant is small so it is very quiet and charming. It has a cancellation policy so I would suggest reading the menu (and the course options) prior to making the reservation.
I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the décor. Very relaxed and comfortable. High class. Food was amazing - ideal for people who will try anything. We got the larger tasting course and it was enough food without being too much.
I'd recommend if looking for a hidden oasis with great food...could be a date or a business meeting, as long as you are an adventurous eater.
The whole dinner was amazing. Presentation was beautiful - it was like having a poem laid in front of you for each course. The ingredients were fresh and the seasoning just perfect. Please don't listen to reviews that say "food tasted bland" etc. Those people probably got their taste buds ruined by the overly sweet and salty Americanized ethnic foods. The soup was to die for, it's definitely my favorite of the evening. One thing I must caution: it is very quiet in the restaurant. If you're in the mood for a bustling place filled with music and background chatting (or shouting!), you'll probably want to consider other options.
I have been here countless times and not once has the quality flagged. Ordered the $200 Kaseiki with Saki pairing...expensive yes...worth it - somehow without a doubt. I consider this one of the best restaurants in the world - and i have been everywhere...including Japan over a dozen times. The service is also remarkable and understated. I love this restaurant...thank you again for a remarkable meal - one of the best of my life.
We had the 9 courses omakase Kaiseki dinner. It was outstanding in presentation and taste. The pairing with Sake added to both the stylishness of the display and the savors.
The setting is attractive, tables are well spaced and noise level quiet for conversations.
Service was first-class.
The pacing was prompt, it was a weeknight and some in our party looked a bit tired so that may have accelerated the rhythm...it was still a two and a half hours event, that everyone enjoyed greatly.
Really a place to patronize for Kaiseki style food!
Our experience at Rosanjin was outstanding! The food was not only divine but also visually stunning and very detailed. The progression of the meal was impeccable. Also the restaurant staff was very helpful explaining the various ingredients/components of a dish and knowledgeable about the sake pairing. This restaurant gets a 5 stars and more!
My friend had recommended me Rosanjin as the best restaurant in Manhattan, but that was not true for us.
Good atmosphere and services.
Sakizuke, the first dish of Kaiseki, Zensai, a la carte of small foods, Wan, a soup with Avalon shinjo meat ball, and Sushi, Anago sea eel and Big shrimp, were really fantastic.
But Sashimi was ruined by putting on ice too much, Beef tempura was too eccentric, Chawan-mushi, egg hotchpotch, needed to be accented by spice, and Uni-Meshi, rice with sea urchin, spoiled the taste of Japanese Ginger.
We expect Kaiseki will have a good streamline of savors by changing taste with spices dish by dish in the future.
I had heard great reviews about their kaiseke course and the course menu exceeded my expactations.
The food was perfectly presented, and incredibly delicious; the service was outstanding and it was an overall fantastic experience.
One of the best meals I ever had
Very authentic Kyoto-style kaiseki 10 course dishes All of dishes were well executed and brought out the ingredient's flavor. We also ordered with 10 sake paring which consists of half of them are Daiginjyo.
I am native Japanese, who born and brought up the Kyoto, also worked some of famous Kaiseki restaurant there when I was in Japan. Some of course recall me the flavoring of Kyoto, which is very subtle/delicate taste. This might not appeal some of guest prefer more distinct/stronger flavor from dishes. But this is what authentic Kyoto cuisine style.
Servrice was pristine, and left over rice was wrapped up beautifully for take home. Good thing is that rice was heat up the next day, and taste was still wonderful after one day left.

None of this newfangled fusion rubbish. If you're looking for chilli on your kingfish tataki, or bonito tacos, go elsewhere. Kaiseki is beautiful and this one is no exception. Perfectly executed throughout, save that the braised snapper course was slightly overdone.
Wow, what a serene, enjoyable evening! From the gorgeous appetizer plate, featuring Welk and wonderful little bites, to the exquisite simmered Japanese shrimp to the perfect grilled yellowtail, the entire meal was close to perfect. The final plate of sushi was very good. In fact, only the desert was less than amazing (while it was not perfect, it was still very good and quite tasty). Definitely an experience, different than any standard Japanese sushi house. . .
-High end food presentation and preparation. Very authentic. Attentive service if not a bit distant and cool. Good sake selection, presented professionally by the staff. Bit dull atmosphere, doesn't really create a Japanese feeling. Prices are steep even considering the high quality of food and presentation
Kaiseki food as art form. Nine course menu takes you through the different ways to prepare high quality ingredients. All presented with a great sense of detail and artistry. A diiferent culinary experience, not comparable to western offerings. The sake pairing is a wonderful way to learn about this accompaniment.
