Rosalita's Cantina Ratings and Reviews
Food was pretty good. They were out of empanadas but the waiter suggested the flautas which were a good substitute. Only complaint was when they added the gratuity for our party of 10. Didn't have a problem with them adding it. But did have a problem with how it was calculated. Tip is generally based on price of the meal before tax as tax has nothing to do with the value of the meal. They said it was an 18% tip but they did after tax. On a large party that adds up and made the tip over 20% which we didn't care about because service was good. They should calculate that properly if they're adding it. I would go back though
The service was terrible. For the entire meal our waiter only came twice. Once at the beginning to take out order...which still took 15 mins after we sat down and then a second time to bring us our drinks. The kitchen brought our food and then our waiter came to grab the check. It would have been understandable if they were busy but they were far from busy on a Sunday night at 8:30.
It is a tradition for us to come here for lunch whenever we take our niece and nephew to the City Museum, which is within easy walking distance. The food is always good and prices are reasonable.
Usually, the service is friendly and attentive. This time, we hardly saw our waitress and when we did she didn't seem to be too concerned with problems. My wife had ordered a Margarita and it came in a chipped glass. By the time she noticed it, the drink was about half done. We finally saw our waitress and, after showing her the chip, she just laughed and said 'perfect. I'll throw it out when you're done.' She didn't apologize or offer to replace it or take it off the menu. Fortunately, my wife didn't cut her lips on the chip.
We will most likely keep coming back to this location and the new one in West County, but this is 'strike one' and we'll be observing more carefully for the next pitches.
Was told by the hostess that we should not use Opentable to reserve seating as they don't actually use the reservation system, so if we were to reserve and there hadn't been any available tables, we would have had to wait.
Overall food was a bit mediocre. Prices are reasonable. Service was slow when considering the restaurant was mostly empty. Our waitress took quite a while to take our drink orders, and seemed a bit unwelcoming.
Probably will not return.
We made a 10 person reservation for a graduation celebration two months prior to the occasion. Rosalitas said they could accommodate 10 people; however, after calling the day of the reservation to confirm, they're "accommodation" of ten people was sitting us at two separate 5 person tables. Had we known this was the case earlier, we would have been able to make a reservation elsewhere. After we said we would prefer to sit together, they sat us on their patio. Due to a thunderstorm, we were forced to leave halfway through the dinner. The wait staff did nothing to find us alternative seating once the rain began. The food was great; the customer service was horrible.
We had a reservation for Mother's Day lunch. It wasn't too crowded so we were seated right away. The food was great and my parent really enjoyed their meal. My mother loves fajitas and the sizzling dish did not disappoint at Rosalita's. The margaritas were great and hit the spot. We will definitely be back!
We booked our reservation a month ahead of time only to find out later on it was Mardi Gras weekend. We walked in and it was super busy. When I made the reservation I asked for a booth and informed them it was our anniversary. Anyway we got there and the hostess was happy we had a reservation and they took us right to a tall table. I didn't say anything because the table was in a nice spot. They didn't acknowledge our anniversary but that's ok.. I had two margaritas one vegas margarita (good but has red bull or something) then I had a pomegranate one, it was so good! Food was amazing! Chips and salsa was amazing the chips are real thin and the quest dip was delicious! Bill wasn't bad! The places was pretty to look at! We will be back this summer to sit out side.
Typically we have very good service, food, etc. We visited on 2/19/2017 prior to a concert. Our reservations were at 6 pm. We gave our drink orders-margaritas- just as we sat down. Our friends arrived 10 mins after and ordered their margs. They received their margs right away. Our waiter stated that mine and my friends margaritas wouldn't be made because they ran out of lime juice. What?! He then offered beer instead. WE CAME TO A CANTINA FOR MARGARITAS! When we left the restaurant, there was a huge jug of lime juice on the bar counter. I call BS. Our waiter did not offer any discount or apology for the mistake.
We were in town for a tournament at the conference center. This was walking distance and easy. The vibe was great, seating was comfortable and the food was very good. Unfortunately, I didn't have a margarita- they looked delicious, but next time I'm in St. Louis, I plan to eat here and definitely will try one of the margaritas.
4 of us visited Rosalita's for the first time. We were in St. Louis for the Red Hot Chili Pepper's concert. we walked there from our hotel that was across from the Scottstrade Center where the concert was held. We visited because of good reviews from Trip Advisor. Kevin, our server, was excellent and fun. We ordered Guacamole and Queso as an appetizer and then Empanades and Tostitas from the appetizer menu as our meals because we received the "Happy Hour" special which was money off the appetizer menu. Food was great as were our drinks
We very much enjoyed our meals. There was a little mix up on bringing out the apps and soup before the meals and my special request was the opposite of what I asked for. It was handled quickly and graciously. The portions are generous and we were happy with the margaritas too.
My Chimichanga was excellent. At most mexican restaurants I leave about half of the beans because they are usually dry and tasteless. The beans here were fantastic, had great flavor and smooth not lumpy. Everyone in our party enjoyed everything. Our server in training (D.J.) did a great job, as well as the trainer. We will definitely be returning.
The atmosphere as soon as we walked in was awesome. It is very well decorated, they had music playing that went with the culture so that was cool. And the food was amazing!! Also be sure to check out their happy hour specials! We will definitely be eating there again in the future.
Good food....chips were great but could've used a bigger bowl of salsa. Music was good but too loud for our tastes. Wish more of the dinners came with sides instead of a la carte. Had to pay for parking but lot is conveniently located behind the restaurant. Service was good and the place was packed.
The food was absolutely delicious and is served in huge portions. The service was impeccable! I went for a friend's birthday and she was given a free dessert and they made her entree over because it came with green peppers(even though she didn't specific "no green peppers"). The pricing is reasonable! My bill came out to $57 and that was for two people.
Initial chips put on put our table weren't of usual quality. Not really salted right. The salsa put on our table didn't taste normal and was put in a smaller container than the usual wider dish they usually put out. Had to request new salsa and chips. Waiter was fine. We are frequent customers, but this wasn't a very great experience. My girlfriend ordered the spinach and mushroom enchiladas and they were very bland. Not much too them, little to no sauce- very unimpressive. We've been here numerous times and have liked this place so it's a shame. Also, it was frustrating that they seated us at the front of the restaurant on the stage portion instead of the back dining room area. It seems like they seat the younger people who they don't think are going to tip very much or be there very long at the front of the restaurant. Request to be at the back of the restaurant. The seats are better and the air quality is better as opposed to dealing with the bar scene and the front door open and hostess stand. It seems like every time I walk in there the hostess still doesn't understand why I tell her why I have a reservation even though there's plenty of tables open in the restaurant. I want the points on opentable!
