Great neighborhood place for a nice dinner. Good food calculated service and nice ambiance.
Great food, good portions the waiter was pleasant and attentive
Probably the best restaurant in the Greater Vancouver area!
Spectacular patio! The brunch was fantastic! Could not have been happier! Best burger I’ve found to date, but bring your appetite.
We consider ourselves regulars and missed this restaurant when they closed for the pandemic.
The menu and food preparation/presentation are always outstanding. Both the patio and inside dining are very comfortable and ascetically pleasing.
And, the wait staff friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.
We have never had a meal we were disappointed in.
The only reason we don’t dine here more often is that it’s hard to keep the bill reasonable when there are so many wonderful dishes to experience.
Outstanding food and drink! Loved the sweet onion tart, the risotto with shrimp, the halibut, and of course the berry cobbler for dessert. Our waiter, Andrew, was wryly comical and attentive. All in all a great place for dinner with friends.
Food and service are great, but for the prices it would be nice if tables were spaced a bit more to keep noise levels down. We had a scallops entree and the risotto, plus the dessert special of the night, and all were tasty and nicely presented. Casual vibe.
Service is always incredible and the food is amazing!
The service and food were outstanding and spot on!
The food is always fantastic, never had a bad meal. I did splurge and had dessert which as the berry cobbler. It was the perfect finish to a perfect meal.
Had a good dinner and a better experience than average in this area. Salmon was properly cooked, and the appetizer (a sesame tuna special) was great.
We had a lovely meal celebrating the end of COVID and seeing our parents again.
Great food and service
We had dinner on Sunday. I did not like big chunks of tomatoes paired with lamb chops and filet mignon. Also horrible mash potatoes. Presentation sucked. I also had the Caesar salad with out any dressing. Just poor quality on Sunday. May be the chef has mood swings.
The cocktails & appetizers were great. 3 out of the 4 different entrees were also very good with one entree being average which was the corn risotto with crab. The 3 Berry cobbler was also very tasty. Service has always been excellent over the years!!
Three of us dined here on a Friday evening. We were delighted to learn they were open again after the virus shutdown. We shared a starter of chicken liver mousse drizzled with honey and accompanied by toasted baguette slices, which was delicious. For entrees we had the short ribs, the chicken and the halibut. All were prepared creatively with delicious accompaniments. We shared a mixed berry cobbler a la mode for dessert. Also delicious. The server and the young man who refilled our water and removed plates were great. The Pinot Grigio and red blend wine by the glass were excellent. The noise level was a little high, but not off putting. People are so happy to be able to eat out again. We’ll definitely return to Roots.
Truly enjoyed the evening. Great food & service.
This was my 1st visit & I’ll be back again!
Our food was served cold and it was tasteless. When reheated, it did not taste any better. The server was excellent. It was a wonderful place before COVID; I will give it another shot, maybe the kitchen had a bad day.
Fabulous food with a great atmosphere
Our server, ‘Andy’ was great. We have had him on other occasions and he is consistently gracious and polite.
Could not ask for better food or service!
This was our first time dining at Roots. The food was ok but not 5 star quality. Our server would not take our Open Table Reward. It was not a big deal, but his excuse of needing a chip reader to use it was pretty lame.
Terrific food, attentive but not intrusive service. My favorite restaurant in the Vancouver area.
Always a very good meal and good time. One of our favorite restaurants over the last 15 years. Looking forward to our next trip there!
Always a pleasure to dine at roots. Service and food are always excellent!
Roots is our go-to restaurant for a nice meal and a glass of good wine. The staff is courteous, and the food is always prepared just right!
Fabulous love the soups
We had a group of 10 people (although a couple did not show) and the service was flawless and the food was outstanding, as usual. I had the chicken dinner and it was amazing. Always happy with my experience at Roots
This was our first time there and we look forward to returning!
Fabulous crab cakes at lunch
We'll be back. Andrew was a fantastic server, not to intrusive, not too distant, and very engaging. The foot was great (short ribs for my husband, scallops for me); given the main course was so good, we decided to give dessert a try -- butterscotch pudding and toffee cake. Also very good. We had a very nice evening.
We're foodies, so pleasing us is difficult. Entrees were superb (scallops, filet)! Bread was cold, not just room temperature, soup was small for the price and nondescript in taste. As is true in most restaurants, wine is overpriced, but we ordered a Pinot Noir and when I asked for Pinot glasses instead of the one-size-fits-all glass that was on the table, the waiter said they only have the one size. Oh well, so much for enjoying an expensive bottle of wine. I repeat, it's not easy to exceed our expectations.
Our go-to place for a really nice lunch. Great accommodation for my mobility impaired sister. Perfect food service by Bert. Magnificent food choices, and low key classy ambiance.
The food and service was very good. The disappointment was that we were sat right next to a very large group, when the restaurant was wide open. The group was so loud that it made it difficult for our party of 3 to have a normal conversation. Felt like we were sitting in bar.
It's the first time we have dined at Roots. The service and food were excellent. The dining room seemed to be a bit noisy, so we asked to eat in the bar. which was much quieter. We'll be back.
Went there for Valentine's Day after hearing great things about it. Had great food, good drinks, and attentive servers. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice date night.
Very busy Valentines evening. They did a great job. Great food and wine snd service. Made it a special night.
Usually wouldn't review a restaurant on Valentines day but...
Service was understandably slow due to crowd but Andrew was spread thin but knowledgeable, polite and warm and he loves working at Roots.
Food was excellent, would recommend short ribs. Spinach salad was terrific.
Overall an excellent experience. Great WA wine list.
Roots continues to be our go to restaurant in East County. We have been fans of Brads concept and kitchen team since before moving from Beaverton in 2014. I must also say the wine list is one of the best in the Portland/SW Washington area. Very well chosen and a reasonable cookage fee.
We look forward to returning.
Very pleasant lunch. Will go again
Surprisingly good restaurant set among franchise-type establishments. Large menu. Very good dishes and service. (But leave the kids at home.)
We made reservations for a special Sunday evening meal with my son and his girlfriend. We started with a bacon and broccoli dip which is to die for. Then we had a magnificent appetizer course. My son had a leek and parsnip soup and my husband and I shared a wonderful beet salad with arugula, candied walnuts and goat cheese. The main courses were fabulous as well. Two of us had the fresh king salmon with creamy orzo and vegetables and my son had the mushroom risotto. We enjoyed Rombauer Zinfandel and the service was exquisite. The only downside is we did ‘t have room for dessert!
