We have been dining here for several years now and have never been disappointed. The food and service are outstanding. The menu always has a great variety of beef, chicken, pork and fish dishes. We find the atmosphere in the main dining area a bit noisy and cafeteria like, so we have our meals either in their intimate bar or on the patio.

Roots NEVER disappoints!

This was our 2nd visit to Roots. Food and service has been outstanding. Myself and daughter did not like the roasted broccoli that came with our halibut. It was too bland and charred. Seemed to be burnt. We will come back again when we want an excellent meal.

The server, Andrew, was very sweet and attentive. The food portions were good and my husband liked his risotto although my steak had more fat on it than I would have liked for the price. Everything tasted very good and we had a nice time.

We have been guests here often but felt the food did not have the overall quality. They were some wonderful dishes: tuna appetizer and chicken liver pate' and the peach cobbler. The chicken was wonderful but the Spanish rice and other sides were disappointing. The risotto was over powered by the added ingredients. We were so sad as we have always loved our meals at Roots.

Possibly our waiter stirred us wrong. I wanted the tuna appetizer for my main and would have ordered gazpacho and a salad with it. He said it would not be enough --- but it would have been perfect. We watched with others ordered and it seemed many didn't finish their meals. I hope it was just they were full.

We will give it another try.

Our waiter was very funny and there when ever we needed something. Very good service. I wish I remembered his name!!

Good lunch the salmon portion in salad small and little dressing on it but the pasta dish excellent

The fig appetizer was original and quite good. The flatbread one was tasty, but a little tough and messy because of the excess sauce. Entrees were excellent, cooked perfectly.

A very nice place to celebrate a special occasion. Excellent food. Beautiful beautiful presentation. Wonderful service.

Nice contemporary design, seasonal menu and creative Bar Drinks. Make this a nice place for a date.

Outstanding stop we make every year during the LPGA event in Portland!!

Engaging, attentive wait staff. Wonderful menu of very, very prepared and presented dishes. Every dish our party of four ordered were done as requested and were delicious.

It was our anniversary and we had a great experience out on their lovely patio.

The wait staff was attentive. Delectable dishes. Ordered a medium rib-eye that came out exactly as requested, medium as in it was perfectly rested, so that it remained juicy when cut. The spinach salad is very unique with the blackberries and pickled mustard seeds the dressing equally unique with a blackberry orange citronette. The mussels were fresh and tender, not chewy at all.

First time at Roots with friends. Great menu selection, service and food. Will definitely return.

Roots was unusually quiet for a Saturday evening. Normally I would expect the noise level to be moderate, and very much dependent on what the group at the neighboring tables are doing with their conversations.

The broccoli soup was superb and the entrees did not disappoint.

I've been here maybe 15-20 times and hosted a lot of big parties and events....and always had great to amazing food. This week was the first time I was truly disappointed. I had 2 work friends and 2/3 of them had mediocre food. The Risotto was so bland... only ate 3/4 bites and didn't take it home. A huge waste and quite pricey to throw out. Overall I'd go back but now it will be a long time and no more work events with private rooms for 20. Probably just a bad night or a bland dish but super disappointed especially hosting 2 new work folks.

Normally the food is very good at Roots. The special was a walnut pesto pasta. We all ordered it. It took a long time for our meals. We did not care for the flavor or combinations in the pasta dish. The salads were good but the pasta was not.

Showed up early, no problem. Ignored at first, then Andrew did a great job as a waiter. A bit expensive but good food. Not great, but good.

Another excellent meal, this time with a large group. That pastrami sandwich is a taste sensation!

Food and atmosphere is always enjoyable, celebrated a birthday and everyone had a great time.

It’s a good place for a celebration or just a relaxing happy hour with good selection.
