The food was a disappointment. We were excited based on reviews but the food was uneventful and bland. Unfortunately it cast a shadow on the whole evening.
Everything was delicious. My salmon was prepared perfectly and really delicious glaze, along with rice and squash - all perfectly balanced. Best burrata I ever had! The atmosphere is really cozy and all of the staff are very friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back.
Service was poor. Food was bland. There are many great options in Ogunquit. This isn’t one of them. It was the worst dining experience we have had in our 15 years of visiting Ogunquit.
Disappointed, arrived about 10 minutes early to reservation, waited just a few minutes to be seated. Waited a bit for server ordered drinks which were very good. Waited finally ordered meals, my husband salad and appetizer and myself a dinner. After approximately 40 minutes asked server about meal after table next to us finally got their meals without salads, asked for bread, waited a bit more asked again and told kitchen behind, and no indication coming any time soon, decided to pay for drinks and leave, many other options to eat in ogunquit will not be returning
This was the BEST meal we every have had in our lives!! Starting with the salad through the desert. My husband is Gluten free and they had many gluten free entries available!
The service was excellent and the music was also great!
Then to finish off our experience there were scrubbing salts in the restrooms room to wash your hands with, that made my hands so soft!!!!
We went on a Sunday night in September and it was very quiet. There was only one waiter who did an admirable job. My husband and I both had the pulled pork with rice and beans which was delicious though it had large segments of fat in it. Portions were very large and we should have split it. My appetizer of Lobster and gnocchi was sublime and next time I would get that as an entree. Very enjoyable but would have been more fun if more people which in season I’m sure there was.
Has always been a favorite spot. Great food, drinks and environment.
Excellent. Highly recommended.
Waitress was fantastic!
We went to have dinner for 7 and went to the bar for a drink first as we were early. Bartender, Aldo, was super pleasant and room was beautiful so we decided to just stay and eat at the bar. Started with the calamari which was excellent, fresh and crunchy with a great Asian sauce and little chunks of pineapple. Delicious! Our dinners were both very tasty as well. We shared a dessert which was a triple chocolate cheesecake which was delicious and wonderfully presented/plated. Great experience as it was last time and we will definitely go back again. Thank you Aldo and The Roost for a exceptional dining experience!
Outstanding restaurant within walking distance to Perkins Cove and several motels. Charming atmosphere and top notch cuisine. Also great for breakfast.
What can I say.. Roost is our first dinner every time we visit Ogunquit. I just love the ambiance and food!! It’s cozy, charming and warm. Our dinner tonight was excellent.. as usual! You can’t go wrong with whatever strikes your fancy on the menu!
We had an early reservation so that we could get to the theater. The staff were all very accommodating. The service could not have been better. The ambiance was cozy and inviting and the food was delicious. Would like to have given it a five star, but it was a bit pricey. That being said, we will definitely go to Roost again!
A place I’ve been wanting to dine at. Diverse menu and cocktails. Appetizers were delicious. The sweet potato gnocchi with lobster was fantastic. Dinner selections were perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients. Portion size was perfect. The service was excellent. I’m looking forward to the 2019 menu.
The food and menu is excellent, would love to see more attention put into the Service and Armosphere. Leaves more to be desired.
My wife and I went to celebrate her bday and her first time in Maine. I’ve been coming to Ogunquit for 9 years. I was very disappointed with the service. We were not given our drinks. Not offered refills. Not offered the specials. Not offered bread. Our server apologized to the table next to us for not getting bread... we were a little shocked. Didn’t know bread was complimentary and given before the meal... our water was never poured for us or refilled. We definitely felt discriminated against. I’m hoping it was our younger age and not our same sex marriage because most establishments are pretty gay friendly. Perhaps it was that we were wearing jeans? I’m not entirely sure BUT terrible experience and in fact, where we were staying said it had received similar fees back from its guests which is too bad. I’d love to recommend this place once you start treating people like everyone is just as important as the next and not assuming they may not have as much money. ( we order the MP items and the special .... after I had to ask what it was, and tipped 25%). I’m very disappointed. We will be returning next year. Perhaps by then you can provide your servers with training on cultural competency.
Many visits to the Roost, this was the quietest. Service was excellent, and friendly. The menu has changed a bit, still a good variety. Our beverages were great. The restaurant has parking, which is a real bonus for ogunquit,Maine.
We went today dinner there after the Ogunquit playhouse.
Service was great and food was very good.
It is a very relaxing place and the 4 of us truly enjoyed the meal.
We will be going back there.
We were seated as soon as we entered. Our waitress Jelene was terrific, friendly, entertaining and just a sweetheart of a girl. I would rate our first experience as a total 10!!!!!
very good service, excellent menu and very considerate staff
Also enjoy meeting Robert and Aldo when we go to the restaurant. Everything went welln and we had excellent meals and service. As a bonus my 95 year old mom was able to have a long conversation with the beautiful Sally Stuthers.
The service was excellent and the food was great. We have eaten here twice now and would always come back.
I’ve always love Thr Roost and certainly wasn’t disappointed this time. We love the menu which is always eclectic an interesting. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and the ambience relaxing. Will certainly be coming back again and again.
Adorable farm-like decor and delicious meal. We came around 6 pm and we were with my 3 1/2 month old son. Despite him disturbing the peace a bit, all of the staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We split the watermelon salad and eggplant rollatini for an appetizer. I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered the salmon special. Everything was excellent. Would definitely come back, but next time without our infant!
Food had very little taste. Our server was polite but failed to live up to expectations of that caliber of a restaurant.
Very nice restaurant, food very good, server was very good, a bit disappointed in table location, next to loud table, server tried to monitor noise level, had put on reservation was our anniversary thought would have a quieter table but overall very good experience
We returned for yet another great meal at Roost! The food was fantastic - love the friendly staff and atmosphere. A highlight of our Ogunquit getaway!!
My wife and I make it a point to go whenever we are in town. We love the menu and just the whole vibe.. The food is amazing!! We were just there this week..
We ate dinner at Roost Cafe twice in the same week - once with a table of 7, and then with a group of 20! All the food was excellent. Special shout outs for the wonderful bread, Bolognese, pear salad (special), scallops, and crab cakes. The blueberry lemon tart is a winner too! Lovely ambiance, outstanding service. Thanks for two memorable evenings!
First time here for dinner...have been previously for outstanding breakfast/brunch and for the in-house bakery. The food is simply outstanding. My wife and I shared a special seafood paella for two, to which Roost added grilled shrimp for my wife’s benefit. Our friends had pan-seared scallops and Statler chicken breast, respectively, and both loved their dishes. I had a Cosmo that was the best I’ve had in Ogunquit...and there are several good ones.
But beyond all that, Roost went far, far and beyond to accommodate me with a non weight-bearing cast and a knee scooter. My disability is only temporary but for those with more significant issues the restaurant is very easy access and highly accommodating. That, in itself, was enough to ensure that my wife and I will return often.
The service was subpar. We ordered an appetizer (burrata), but it came out with our meal. The desserts were just okay considering they came from a pastry place downstairs.
food is good but service tends to be a little slow
A pleasant restaurant, but on a recent rather quiet Wednesday, the service was EXCRUCIATINGLY slow. We waited forever for appetizers and our entrees. The servers were very inexperienced. The managers (owners?) at the front desk did not seem too concerned about the awful wait times, however, which is too bad. The food is good, not exceptional. The menu accommodates diners with food allergies/issues.
Recommended by Beauport B & B and did not disappoint. Service was excellent and the food was also.
Unremarkable and over priced for what we ordered. Would not return.
Excelente experiencia. La comida fue maravillosa!
Awesome evening dinner with my wife. Service was spot on. Presentation was outstanding and food delicious.
We chose this restaurant because it was among those that were on a "vegan-friendly" list of restaurants since two in our party of six are herbivores. Everyone loved the ambience of the restaurant and the service was great. Two guests each ordered the duck special and they agreed they'd had better duck. "It needed a balsamic reduction sauce or something because it was very dry." The two vegan guests each chose the one vegan salad (ordered without the cheese) and the one vegan entrée, a Pad Thai that was supposed to be both sweet and spicy. It definitely was too sweet, not spicy at all, and the gloppy rice noodles were 90% of the dish - the vegetables were a few shreds of peppers and carrots. One guest was totally impressed with her Caprese salad with homemade mozzarella.
We have eaten there before and it is the same great food with incredible service from the waitstaff. Definitely worth eating there if you are near or in Ogunquit. Breakfast is also tremendous!
Lovey ambience; quiet and cozy. Most food was lukewarm. Iver-rich amd slathered in sources. Relatively little fresh seafood for being in a prime seafood location . Advice: keep it simple, fresh and local: it isn’t yet.
