Rooftop at Providence G Ratings and Reviews
Server did not mention anything about Bday when I specifically noted it on my reservation. He and manager (wearing a hoodie) requested IDs for credit card being used for my 18 year old which he didn't have on him. It was dinner time at 7:15pm. They left before the club atmosphere started. I had to come in to pay for the dinner. I used my credit card and they didn't even bother to ask me for an ID. Just stereo typing kids can't carry a credit card? I don't know why I bothered with a 30% tip. I guess it's because I'm in the hospitality business.
I greatly enjoyed the atmosphere, though the fire alarm was pulled, and I was stuck in an elevator with an individual hyperventilating from being claustrophobic, after finally being freed and returning to our seats we where informed there was no more beef carpaccio so tuna tartar was given as a replacement. The cheese plater and calamari both came out very nice, and the evening ended off well as we danced until it was time to bid our adieu's.
We enjoyed our first time here but it was noisy. I am pretty sure we out aged most customers by a few years+. But the location is super. My husband really enjoyed seeing all the buildings he worked in during his career. He ordered the Charcuterie and it was very disappointing ~ way over priced for what was served.
It's a great place to go for drinks and live music! Was there twice in the same week. Once for a bachelorette party and the second time for my birthday. Had a great time both nights! Would definitely recommend for drinks, the music and the view. Definitely not so much of a restaurant. The shrimp po boy was very heavy and it was put on a "wonder bread roll" fish tacos were decent not great. Although the oysters and shrimp cocktail were great. I would go back but just for the ambiance. Not the food. Loved the view and the fire pits add a nice touch. Overall a fun time!
We made a reservation through Open Table and were subsequently called with the news that we couldn't be accommodated and they "had no idea how we were allowed" to make a reservation. They offered a seat hours later which was not acceptable, and then coded our reservation as a "no show" on the Open Table system. I'm so turned off that I doubt I'd ever choose this establishment again. Sleazy.
My husband and I had the shrimp po boy, neither of us were impressed. I also had the fried artichokes again not so impressed. Drinks were good and atmosphere was great which is what will bring us back! Loved the outdoor rooftop setting, made me feel like I was back in the big city. The pizza looked decent, think we will give that a try next time
I was excited to visit this place but overall I was unimpressed. It was very beautiful and cozy but the staff were a bit rude and inefficient, the amount of time we waited for our food and check didn't seem proportionate to the number of patrons at the restaurant, and the portion sizes left us all still feeling hungry when we left.
Disappointed......I had so looked forward to our dinner at the Providence G on a beautiful summer evening. When we arrived we were greeted by very loud club music, which kept up without break the whole time we were there. The roof deck is beautiful, with a great view of the city skyline, comfortable couches and chairs, fire pits, and lots of plants. Our waitress was attentive but mechanical. The food and cocktails were OK--not great--but very expensive. Our $11 salads had three slices of apples and a couple of curls of cheddar--other than that a big expensive bowl of lettuce. Three fish tacos (two bites each) for $15. The burger at least was a full meal. Felt rushed by the waitstaff throughout our dinner. We will not be returning.
My overall rating would've been higher if there had not been miscommunication re: my reservation. When I arrived on this overcast evening, I was told I'd be unable to sit outside b/c of the weather forecast, which I understood. The maitre d said he'd tried to reach me by phone to advise of this change (which would've forced me to eat downstairs in the pub) but didn't leave a msg b/c most people don't like to receive long messages. I found this an unacceptable reason, esp. b/c eating @this rooftop restaurant is very much about that unique setting. My protestations led to his setting up a small table nr the entrance, which was an acceptable accomodation. I'd be unable to recommend this restaurant to anyone w/o sharing my experience, to minimize anyone else experiencing the same disappointment.
Beautiful place to meet with friends on a summer evening. Great drinks, food and atmosphere until......We were basically asked to move or leave. I made a reservation for a bday get together with friends and I had no idea that our seats had a time limit. Around 9pm a bouncer walks up to one of my male friends and says " it's time to wrap it up, somebody else has this table next and they are waiting." Whaaaaat? Really embarressing and we all had to leave since there were no more seats. We were told that someone was paying 1500.00 to sit there and we needed to git! Very rude as we were never told that we had a time limit. Will never go there again.
I honestly loved my time here but I was pretty disappointed in the subpar service. I'm not really a stickler for a great service but our waitress really only came over once or twice and it took about a half hour just to get a cheese plate out when there were only about 10 other people in the restaurant . For a while I actually believe she forgot about it .. anyway regardless of that I still think it's a really great space and I really enjoyed my meal / drink so I'll be back, I just felt like I had to leave my comment. Thanks!
I loved the views at the Rooftop at Providence G. However, the service was poor and the food was not good at all for the price. My friends and I ordered the hummus plate - the hummus plate only came with tortilla chips...no veggies or pita chips. I think for $7 the restaurant should be offering something besides plain tortilla chips that you usually pair with salsa. The pizzas that we ordered were small for the price of $17-$21. Our waitress was sweet but not organized at all. Our food came very late and we could hardly ever get service for drink refills. We did enjoy the experience of the fire pit and the views of the city but our overall experience did not meet the expectations a colleague of mine had given. I am not sure I will return...people are better off visiting Federal Hill for a nice meal. The Rooftop at Providence G does not offer good meals at all. If you are looking for a place to start your night and just have a drink, this spot is fine but make sure you call ahead for a reservation.
Went Saturday night with 3 gfs for dinner. Food was good and the waitress was very sweet but I couldn't help but feel like she was rushing us out of there as soon as we finished dinner and wanted another drink. Later on, 2 of us stayed and met up with other friends that were roped off in the VIP section. That was a blast and the service was amazing! Just a couple of critiques: I wish the songs playing were played in whole instead of 30 second clips. It was kind of annoying. Also, it wasn't clear where coat check was to get our coats at the end of the night. But, overall it was an amazing time! Will be back soon and definitely more frequently when the warmer weather gets here.
The service was excellent, and the food was good, but there were limited choices. Generally we felt that was quite expensive for what we got (there were less expensive choices, but I cannot eat gluten, so my options were all the more limited). The alcohol selections were scarce and also expensive. We went on a wintry day to celebrate Valentine's Day, so the ambiance was a bit limited. I think going there in the summer would be a much better idea.
