Good experience except that the quality of the rack of lamb was unsatisfactory . It was cooked to the requested temperature but it was mostly fat. I recommend that you serve a better grade of lamb

Excellent all round. Rack of lamb especially good. All at table enjoyed their respective meals: gnocchi, salmon, scallops. Menu changes seasonally and specials offered so this review may not be relevant for future diners.

I recently went here for brunch before going to the symphony, and I can sum my experience up in one word: phenomenal! It’s a little non- traditional having the buffet in the kitchen but they make up for it. Not only do they have an abundance of brunch type foods but they include a full oyster and seafood bar. And I must admit the breakfast potatoes and beef tenderloin are simply mouthwatering. Amazingly enough the price is justified for the amount and quality of food you can take your choices from. I’ve already told several people about it. I can’t wait to go back and I probably won’t need an excuse to go other than a great dining experience. I highly recommend this buffet as you simply will not be disappointed.

Wonderful buffet brunch on Sundays featuring fresh oysters, smoked fish, eggs, numerous salads, fruit, variety of breads and rolls, cheese, desserts. You start with a champagne orange juice combination (Orange blossom cocktail) and may return to the spread in the large kitchen as often as you wish. there is also an omlette consession -- choose your filling. I don't know nayone who has experienced this brunch who has not raved about it.

Everything was great as usual. The only disappointment was that there were no mussels. We always relish the crab, salmon, shrimps and mussels. Unfortunately, this Sunday, the mussels were not there.

Because we recently subscribed to the NSO, we wanted to experience the Roof Terrace Restaurant for the first time.
The menu: limited, which makes sense for a restaurant whose guests need to get in and out relatively quickly. Yet, there is something for everyone -- e.g,, fish, chicken, beef, and non-meat options. All items are a la carte.
The service: pleasant and attentive.
The food: good, if somewhat underwhelming. It had that high-end caterer quality about it.
The ambiance: nice enough. It has a bit of a ballroom feel to it, and it does not quite resonate with the still-incredible mid/late 60s opulence of the Kennedy Center.
Bottom line: though we doubt we would dine regularly at the Roof Terrace Restaurant (before a symphony performance), we recommend others try it.

We were pleasantly surprised ! The gin martini was very good ! My husband ordered the lamb and I had the lentil soup. Both were very good. Service was fast and efficient. For a pre-theater venue, you can't beat the convenience. And, the food/drinks/ service were better than many other DC restaurants ! The ambiance is hotel-banquet-y which is why I rated this restaurant only "very good"..... however, I was aware of this prior, and, selected this venue just for convenience. We were very pleased, overall.

The food was very good and our waiter was excellent. We had to wait over 45 minutes for our entrees and the restaurant made no accommodation. Wines were over priced.

Wonderful place to gather before a performance. Staff is attentive to curtain time. The restaurant does a nice job with soups, the charcuterie platter is substantial.,

I can’t stand a restaurant where I can read the menu of the table sitting next to me. I could read their menu, listen to their conversation, and could have easily provided comments. The food was good, not great. Service was good, not great. I would go here again Only because there aren’t many options near the Kennedy Center to choose from without paying for more parking.

The food was good but when I inquired as to whether the salmon was wild caught, I was told it was farm raised and the only other option was mushroom risotto w/ cheese. The salad option also had cheese. I cannot tolerate dairy, but had no choice. The soup also had dairy. The restaurant must be mindful of guests who want dairy free, and gluten free options as well as those who do not eat meat and want wild caught fish. It was disappointing to be forced to compromise because there were so few menu choices geared to those with food allergies. The view from our table was stunning, but the acoustics made conversation difficult.

First time dining here for dinner before Kennedy Center show. Not problems with reservation, promptly seated at nice table location. Service excellent; not intrusive, vigilant, and delivery by courses timed perfectly. Food outstanding. Comfortable and classy restaurant.

If you are attending any event at The Kennedy Center, this is a nice place to eat. Our server was very attentive and the entrees we ordered (the rack of lamb and the angus beef tenderloin) were well-prepared and tasty. We also enjoyed the caesar salad and the cauliflower & cashew soup appetizers. However, depending on what you are ordering, the food & drinks can be pricey and the portions can be a bit small. When you add the cost of tickets and parking, it does make an expensive evening. But if it's a special occasion, it's a nice place for a pre- or post-show meal, along with great views on the outside terrace area.

This is a regular place for dining when attending evening events at the Kennedy Center - often because I have season tickets. I had the rack of lamb for the first time. It was excellent. My companion had their special for the night - scallops that she also rated as excellent. Our waiter's suggested a wine to accompany our meal. He made a very good choice. I look forward to our next Kennedy Center event.

Food was great, with lovely presentation, and service was excellent. Pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. Portions are not large, so order accordingly. Dessert was tiny...we shouldn't have planned to share. They had us in and out in plenty of time for the show. Special attention was paid for a member of the party with food allergies. We've been several times and will definitely return.

I was surprised at the quality of the food at Roof Terrace Restaurant. I think I expected it to be more "hotel" like food. The service was excellent, the waiter was not shy about recommending his favorite foods. The bib lettuce salad was crisp and well dressed. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had, light, just chewy enough with an excellent, not overwhelming sauce. The lamb chops were well cooked and tasty.
The restaurant itself is airy and pretty quiet which was wonderful,
The only down side is the price. Our bill for two entrees, one side, one salad, proseco and coffee was $100. I do figure it all helps the Kennedy Center but after tickets and parking it comes to a very expensive evening.

Roof Terrace Restaurant and Bar is perfectly ... fine. We ate there before a show, which is probably the only reason I would go to the Kennedy Center for dinner. The service was quite good, and they are clearly used to moving a lot of people through quickly and efficiently. Food choices were limited, but there is something for everyone. This is a lovely spot for a drink and views of the DC.

We go here before every show - predictable. We go for full bar and table service. Menu is typically tasty, just don't expect it hot. Lukewarm, yes, but feels like it is not prepared to order. Surprised our table of 6 was actually rushed to pay and get to our show on time ... that doesn't usually happen when we are a table for 2. It is better than the cafeteria ... but I am looking forward to other dining options when the new part of the Kennedy Center is complete.

The whipped potatoes should win a five-star award. Soup and tuna tartare were excellent as was the beef. While the lamb had great taste, the kitchen should cleave the chop before serving -- or give the guest a better and sharper knife.
