Not their best showing. ROJ is by far my favorite teppanyaki restaurant of all time, but today just wasn’t their day. Service started slow & bad but recovered nicely. I always thought the filet there was a quality above the rest with great flavor. But our chef over cooked the steaks to the point they were charred, dry and tough. The rest of the meal was excellent, thank god for the egg yolk shrimp. The predetermined 18% gratuity is really more of a fee and shouldn’t be called gratuity. We’ll give it another try in 6 months or so, hopefully with better outcome.

Our chef was awesome I think his name was Juan great guy! We have been coming for 20 plus years and loved the food the egg sauce all great stuff! My family loves this place. The overall appearance needs and upgrade and the price is quite high for just the shrimp selection at $46

I’ve been coming to Ron of Japan for over 30 years. The food is consistently great. Prices are high but you never leave hungry. We come here for special occasions because it is pricey but we love the food.

I have been dining in Ron of Japan for over 24 years this new cook that Vivian assigned to us on purpose was horrible!!!! All of my food was dry no oil for the lobster no appetizer shrimp rice was dry steak was dry everything was horrible waitress was horrible she didn’t want to pack the food and guess what when she did she packed it and gave it to the people that was sitting next to us which i didn’t realize until I got home this was by far the worst experience and i have also dined in northbrook as well and never experienced anything like this before

Had reservations, food had no taste, was bland and the chef took so long to cook that everything was cold by the time he cooked our meat. I expected more sauces and we only had teriyaki. First and last time!

I’ve been to other hibachi’s and I would say this has to be my least favorite. The portion size was not what I expected for the price. The food was bland and my guest and I, were overwhelmed with smoke, it blew in our direction the entire night. I’m sure it’s obvious but I won’t return.

Portions are very small for the price you pay. In addition, cooking area is so small, that the cook can only cook one item at a time. It takes too long for you to get your full meal. Drinks and meals are overpriced. We will not be going there again.

Great hibachi experience. We’ve done various versions but this one is the best for a small group. Very intimate tables and great service. Our chef was wonderful and server was extremely attentive. We had chicken, steak, shrimp and scallops. Food was amazing and not too expensive

This meal was one of the best meals we've had out service was excellent more than I could have asked for the complete staff was great our cook Segundo had to be the best cook in the place been going there for over 30 some years and he was above and beyond her cook he was easy to speak with and communicate with and we just had a good time all together again the staff are waiter was very good very conscientious couldn't ask for anyone better service food everything was above our standards parking was very easy and reasonable thank you and Harley wage for our next meal.

We had an amazing experience with our server Moustafa (The spelling is wrong he's a Turkish server awesome person very attenuative.) Tony put on a great show as our Chef, making the whole experience fun. Overall I recommend this place to everyone and if you can ask for Tony and Moustafa for sure! We added the egg to our shrimp which was AWESOME! Highly recommend the sushi rolls

Ron of Japan is a great restaurant to have dinner just for a night out, or for that special occasion. Everything from the food and drinks to the chef, wait staff and management were phenomenal. They even went above and beyond to help me make my marriage proposal special. Again an amazing place to visit

Great food, great chef! The big TV in front of me detracted from the ambiance. The server was good but not very informative on the menu for a first timer. I was a bit confused and had to wing it. I will return and ask for a seat away from the big screen!
