The whole place is dirty. Our table was sticky and the staff were rude. We were crammed in a round table while the chef cooked so close to our face that even flames felt as if our faces were being burned. The food is just okay however it still is something I would not try again. There are so many other excellent restaurants that I am surprised this is still open. My clothes smelled of the food the next day.

We felt rushed. No glasses with the bombers of beer. Placed an appetizer order, and wanted our dinner order at the same time. She never cleared our plates and ate our ice cream over a dirty table. Had to ask for refills.

Ron of Japan never disappoints. Got together with my girlfriends and had a great dining experience. We had a “new” server who was amazing. She was being shadowed by an experienced server and she did a great job. Our chef Segundo, who we had requested, did an excellent job in making our dining experience so nice. We had a great night celebrating a birthday and would HIGHLY recommend Ron Of Japan if your looking for great food, ambiance and attentive servers.

We’ve been going to Ron of Japan for decades, and this experience was awful. While waiting for our table, my husband went to get some drinks from the bar. He was the only one waiting, but it still took 20 minutes to get a beer and a class of wine. My son ordered 2 sushi rolls, which took almost 1.5 hours to receive. We were all done eating by the time the second one came…and it was wrong. My husband received the wrong beer….twice. Just a terrible experience.

The price of the food was high. There is no more entertainment with the preparation of the food. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday with my grandchildren. I was disappointed that they eliminated the amusement part of the dinner preparation.

Restaurant is dark, smoky; the teppanyaki chef cooked the food just fine, but didn't really interact with the customers, and besides lighting a giant flame, didn't have any tricks to show. Floor was greasy, service was slow. Food was fine, nothing special.

Food was very bland as was the tabletop cooking experience. Scallops tasted like they had been in the freezer for a few years, basically inedible and most of them were left on the table. The up charge for shrimp in the flavorless fried rice was ridiculous. We will not be returning.

The waiter and chef were 5 stars. I did 4 star because before we received our ice cream, someone came to clean our table and tried to take food we were still eating. There were empty booths and tables, so I couldn't understand. He even kept blocking during dessert, so I couldn't speak to my grandmother across from me. This really ruined the dinner. Also had written that this was a "birthday". The hostess never let waited or chef know. Very disappointing customer service.

We were expecting to see typical hibachi tricks and there were none. Also the quantity of food, for the price, and compared to what we’ve received at other hibachi establishments was significantly less. The food and egg sauce were delicious though.

Waited an hour for them to start cooking after we ordered. It was HOT AS HELL and everyone at our table was sweating the whole time. The chef was great but waitress was inattentive and rushed us out at the end. Will never go back.

This is one of my favorite places in Chicago. I love bringing friends and coworkers here and introducing them to the Super Duper Mai Tai's and the Egg Sauce! Highly recommend.

The service was awful-our hibachi ‘chef’ was mean and angry if we asked for anything or requested a change…we could barely hear him and our whole table was afraid of him (some strangers). They were out of many things, the decor is dated, it feels unclean and unsafe. But the food was subpar and not a good value, without any of the fun of hibachi. Will not return.

I've been to a number of hibachi restaurants in my life and this was by far the worst. From the start, the atmosphere was awkward and we didn't receive any service for a while. Our cook had very low energy, which is a huge part of the appeal of this type of restaurant. They messed up 3 of our 5 orders. Worst of all, the food just wasn't all that good. Given the price, the value was terrible with the poor service and so-so food quality.

Disgusting and disappointing. The only edible thing was the chicken soup. The salad was drowned in dressing, the shrimp had the most disgusting yellow egg sauce on it that looked like lemon curd, the fried rice had hamburger in it, and whatever oil or butter they use on the grill just infiltrated everything they cooked. Not to mention there wasn't much of a "show" by the chef. What happened to the throwing shrimp tails and dancing eggs? All that for a very high price tag. Very disappointed and will not return.

They said that they didn’t have sushi because the sushi chef was on vacation. They could have indicated this on their website when I was making the reservation. They served salty chicken noodle soap tasting like can soaps. The meets were tasteless. The waitress was very professional and nice. I will not go back to this restaurant again.
