Romola's Seafood & Grille Ratings and Reviews
We were in on a quiet Saturday night. The service was attentive, including tableside visits by the owner and the chef. The grilled octopus appetizer was cooked perfectly and the rainbow trout special with white wine and capers was light and the vegetables just the right amount of al dente. Mashed potatoes usually look pretty bland, but not when it is hiding under a beautiful flower. This restaurant is BYOB but if you forget to bring some, there's a liquor store 2 blocks away. A lovely meal.
A group of friends meet every month for dinner and when someone suggested dining here again, we all agreed, All of us certainly enjoyed our dinners. We had not intended to order from the pre-fixe menu this time, but we all ended up doing that because the choices were very good. I know the entree portions are slightly smaller, but you get an appetizer, a second dish, the entree, and a choice of two desserts. I especially enjoyed the Mediterranean salad this time and others in my party enjoyed the mussels, oysters, and eggplant rollatine. We each ordered a different entree and literally cleaned our plates,. I got four very nice sized, cooked perfectly as ordered baby lamb chops with berry glaze (always my favorite). WHat I like are the plain assortment of veggies and mashed potatoes. I can not eat spicy food, and they cooked everyone fabulously. I am not crazy about either dessert choice, but they were good for the others. I would prefer some sort of cake, sorbet, or ice cream rather than bananas foster or flan. SErver and manager were very attentive, but as it started getting busy, service became slower and we did have to wait a little bit for our check. I recommend that you get here at 6:00 before the crowds start coming in. THis is a little pricey, but especially nice to celebrate a special occasion or just hang with friends. WE like a BYOB, too. Looking forward to dining here again soon.
Romola's never disappoints. We've been going there since its opening and absolutely love the food. Service is always outstanding as well. We love the specialized attention from the staff. Dining outdoors is always a treat; they cleverly screen off the tables from the street.
We enjoyed Romola's so much after our first visit that this was our second visit in a short time. The food is outstanding and uniquely prepared. The services was impeccable and the live dinner music was the icing on the cake. We brought friends and they loved it. It is a real jewel and we definitely will be back again!
It was our first time at this restaurant. It was part of my birthday celebration. My wife, my son and I had a wonderful time there. Food, service, and environment were all excellent. Even the chef goes out and asks for your opinion about the food. I will go again and would definitely recommend it to my friends. Thank you!
This was my first time dining at Romola's and I was very impressed. The dining room is lovely, with linen cloths and napkins, and quietly lit. The chef and owner were present in the room and stopped at every table, inquiring about the food, service, etc. They shared information about the restaurant and how it got started, their backgrounds, and so forth. The food was excellent and made with specific instructions....not too spicy....no this or that......well-doneness of the items. While it has the trimmings of a more formal dining venue, Romola's was actually quite homey and reasonable as well!! And it's a BYOB!!!
Overall was a good experience. The staff were eager and attentive and were happy to offer suggestions for the children. My starter (Oysters) and main (Ahi Tuna) was excellent although my wife thought her main (Sea Bass) was ordinary. The desserts were fine except the Creme Brulee was a bit on the chilly side.
I would have given 5 stars for service had they not messed my bill up at the end (overcharged to the tune of $50). While I accept mistakes can happen, I personally don't always check the bill but I just had a feeling it was on the high side.
I will go back here.
