We had a quiet and enjoyable Monday evening dinner for our Anniversary. The oysters and shrimp cocktail appetizers were delicious and our sea bass and sizzling rack of lamb did not disappoint. A very nice option in Cranford since there is not much open on Mondays in the area!
Romolas was lovely. Service was great-attentive. Food was delicious. I highly recommended it.
Food was excellent, nice room and good service. Looked like the tables outside were nicely done and will try eating outside next time.
We started out with apps. Fig salad was very good but needed more figs. The mussels were terrific - nice and small with a white wine and cream sauce. Pasta with lump crab meat was really good. The other fish dishes were very good. The owner, I think, came over to check on things. Very nice touch. Will be going back.
We went for a late lunch, early dinner so we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had oysters, tuna tartare, I had spinach and brie salad with salmon, my coworker had the dinner salmon. We enjoyed the food very much, the service was great. It was 102° that day so eating outside was not in the cards, although we'd like to return on a more temperate day to do so.
Food was excellent and the service was top notch.
Everyone was very nice, however the service was spotty and sometimes very rushed at times-The servers don’t communicate with each other
The service at this establishment left a lot to be desired. The servers were friendly but the restaurant was barely at 20% capacity and even the ordering process took a long time. Presentation of each course was very nice. Calamari and the Romola Signature salad were delicious. The garlic shrimp was nothing to write home about and the portion was very small. The entrees were just okay. My party had the lobster ravioli which wasn’t very flavorful, the shrimp and scallop dish was good , and the seafood diavolo dish was also just ok. After the table was cleared it took close to an hour to receive the bill and almost 30 minutes to settle it. Did I mention the place was barely busy. Overall 3 star experience and lackluster customer service. Additionally, they charge a convenience fee for paying via credit card. We will not return here.
Had a great time for dinner. Lobster ravioli was outstanding. The calamari app was excellent. Took the berry, berry desert home and enjoyed it. The servers were very helpful and attentive.
I would say, overall, food was very good and service as well. The manager or owner came by to check that everyone was happy, which is a nice touch.
great food / great service. A good time and nice ambiance.
With the exception of one appetizer the food was very good.
The Applewood thick cut bacon was very disappointing. It was 95% fat. Don't recommend getting it. The New England Clam chowder was not the typical N.E. chowder in that it was not thick or creamy. However it had a great flavor (bacon in it). It was delicious. For our entrees we had the Seafood Crepes, and the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were also very good and so was the warm Bread Pudding with ice cream for dessert.
The service was great from start to finish, they were more than accommodating and continued to check on us without being intrusive. Everyone loved their meals.
I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family! Very nice elegant place
amazing food always fresh , love the porkchops! amazing staff always friendly and attentive
As always the food was delicious! Service was wonderful.
Romola is definitely one of the best in the area. Tremendous food, great service, nice atmosphere. Fish dishes were excellent and lamb chops cooked to perfection. Went here for 60th b-day. Have been here several times and never let down.
The food was excellent! The restaurant was a bit loud, but that was probably due to the large party with their children.
We did not like the idea of adding a surcharge to the check if you paid with a credit card. Unacceptable. The prices are higher than other comparable restaurants and those already reflect the fee restaurants pay to credit card companies. The service was excellent and the food was good.
Quaint, classy but not over the top. Excellent food.
As always Romola's never disappoints! Great selection of seafood and steaks. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals!
Romola's is always enjoyable. Lovely ambiance & delicious food with attentive service.
Always great. Again a very nice experience. It was good to sit outside after a long winter. We had the Sea Bass and the Shrimp&Scollop combination. Also the lobster bisque. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. The fish is always fantastic here. Consistent excellence from Romola's over the years has made this restaurant one of our favorites. Highly recommend!
Absolutely delicious! The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent. There is truly something for everyone on the menu. We will definitely be back!
As always, Romola's does not disappoint. Brought my cousin from out of town who thought the food was superb.
Definitely one of our go to restaurants!
Very nice dinner. The date didn’t work out though.
Seafood was fresh and delicious! Pricy but worth every penny
Service, Atmosphere and food were outstanding as always! Highly recommend for any special occasion, family outing or dinner with friends.
The ambiance , staff seating are perfect .. Everything On the menu is so fresh , plated beautifully and absolutely delish!
Great place to eat. Food is amazing. BYOB place. Service was amazing
It was our first time there and everything was excellent! The food and service were great. We were spaced out from other occupied tables and felt safe dining out. We would return.
Perfect for a dinner out with friends! BYOB, nice ambience and prix fix menu available.
In these COVID times, we made a reservation to secure space in a limited seating. I was skeptical upon our arrival as we were then ushered into the second room as the main was seated to its capacity. We were very surprised that they had transformed the previous "pizzeria" into a well decorated restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive. My steak was served on a hot plated, cooked to my liking... and my companion's spicy pasta had a consistent flavor. Bravo in these weird times.
Awesome! This place never disappoints. Great food, service and atmosphere and portions.
For a restaurant that's a Grill, I expect the grilled items to be particularly good and unfortunately we didn't find that to be the case. Of the things my family ordered, the salads were excellent, the lobster bisque soup was good, the veal shank special that I got was good, the desserts we had (lava cake, bananas foster, and bread pudding) were excellent, my creamed spinach side was very good, and the mashed potatoes were very good. (Excellent is better than very good is better than good. So basically the salads, desserts and sides were the best part of the meal!) But we also ordered grilled tuna, a porterhouse and a NY strip steak. These were all cooked correctly (rare in all cases) but in all three cases we weren't impressed with the flavors or quality of the meat / fish. The steaks (particularly the NY strip) were very fatty and the tuna was pretty flavorless on its own and was overpowered by the sesame seed crust. In additon, the steaks came on 500 degree plates which are a nice idea but when you're serving up single serving steaks (vs a 2 inch thick steak for 2 or more people), those super hot plates can cause the steaks to quickly overcook while sitting on the table. As an aside, Romola's is quite pricy so so I would hold them to a higher standard in any case, but setting that side my family didn't really enjoy their entrees.
Food is always excellent at Romola’s
Oysters were great! Seafood crepes also very good. Salmon was okay. Warm bread with olive spread was delish. Servers were attentive. This place never disappoints except this time there were fruit flies annoying us during dinner. 😔
The chilled seafood tower was made up of gritty oysters, tasteless shrimp, ok clams and crab. For 39.95 it was a waste of $. I had hi hopes for the ahi entree but it was over cooked and not hard but not as it should be firm so I didn't eat even 1/4 of it. 2 dishes costing 70$ I feel robbed.
