Romola's Seafood & Grille
The ahi tuna tared old and cold when served. Feel like the quality of food has gone down since the restaurant opened.
Real nice restaurant to have a an excellent dinner with your spouse or good friends. Dishes were cooked to perfection and service was stellar. An enjoyable experience!
We love Romola's Seafood and Grille. The food is outstanding in preparation and presentation. The service is outstanding. The Live music is the icing on the cake!
The food was ok. I think they changed the menu. It has less options now. The seafood sea diablo was a little bland and my husbands lamb was terrible, but the steak and fish were good. The restaurant is nice. Mostly an older crowd. I Wish it was a little more lively.
This was a first time for us. Very good selection and preparations. Portions were quite ample. We enjoyed the octopus appetizer, the salmon entrée and the filet mignon. Bananas foster was a hit as well. Service was satisfactory; friendly but not always attentive.
Rubbery calamari, tasteless over cooked shrimp and chicken cutlets that were still red inside, not just once but twice. Finally gave up on the chicken and ordered fish tacos. But was still charged for the more expensive chicken dish. I might have thought that meal would have been complimentary since the rest of us were finished eating by the time the tacos arrived. We were the only guests in the restaurant for lunch and still the food was so poorly prepared. Maybe the emptiness should have bee; the tip off. Do not plan to go here for lunch. Sadly an awful experience.
Our return to Romola's for our PreMidnight New Year's Eve dinner ended the year on a high note. After a brief misunderstanding with our reservation, we were comfortably seated and quickly waited on. The atmosphere was elegant, the menu delightful - the most difficult point was with a meal choice. The fresh shrimp cocktail was accompanied by a perfectly seasoned hot sauce. My sister-in-law Sea Bass was tender and delectable. My Short Rib was served with a flavorful savory gravy.
We will return before the year is over.
We had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner with great friends. The staff was on point and the food was absolutely delicious. As well as the ambiance was lovely.
Our party of 5 went to Romola's for out New Year's Eve for the 2nd time. Even at this hectic, crowded time the service was wonderful, the staff were friendly and efficient. There were tables for 2 and for 10 and all parties were relaxed and comfortable. Everything from bread on the table to dessert and coffee was very timely. It is pricey but worth it. The entire restaurant expeince was 1st class fine dinning !
We had a great time for New Years Eve. Friendly prompt service and great dinner options. Nice that it is a byo
Upscale decor, but casual atmosphere. Quiet enough for conversation. Slightly pricey, but you get food that is easily worth it.
It was our first time there and we didn’t know what to expect. The food and service was amazing as well the prices. I wasn’t aware the restaurant was BYOB, but there’s a great liquor store with a fantastic wine selection only 100 feet away.
Food was excellent! Extremely happy with the service, food, and ambiance. Group of 10 friends and everyone gave the place and food 2 thumbs up.
Great place for a Christmas Eve dinner
We have made Romola's our Christmas eve supper. It may be silly but I love the quaintness of a real candle on every table. We ate in the back which I had never been in so I was worried it was the B. room and not as nice however it was nicer and quieter. We were sat near an electric faux fireplace. It was lovely. See them next year and in the interim.
It always great ..but did a outstanding on Christmas Eve ..
Loved the mussels, highly recommend. Both my mom and I ordered them and the whole table needed to dunk their bread, including my 2 year old son!!
Just a nice, comfortable neighborhood BYOB restaurant with delicious food and great service!
Food was good. Service was terrible.
Grilled seafood is delicious here as well as the pasta. Try the seafood crepes. Very romantic atmosphere and there was a nice jazz duo the Friday night we were there. A great date night.
Loved this restaurant. We felt that the portions were small on the appetizers but they certainly made up for it on the entrees. The grilled octopus was outstanding and my husband enjoyed his fresh seafood salad. The chilean sea bass and fresh tuna were uniquely prepared and quite delicious. And definitely leave room for dessert! We were not aware of the parking situation as it was the first time we went to downtown Cranford. The parking in the indoor public lots is free after 6 pm but many of the signs are confusing making many diners worry about getting their cars towed. However once you get to the restaurant they will assure you not to worry. Just allow a few extra minutes to park and find the restaurant. Great choice!!
Food is always great!! Seafood risotto is our favorite. Highly recommend this place.
Perfect setting for a lunchtime meeting, quiet and comfortable. Excellent pasta with vongole.
The service was excellent. Both of us got the special asparagus soup with crabmeat. The food was on the bland side. However we added salt and it all worked out well. The other thing was that I got way less grab meat than my wife. When delivering the same dish to the same table they should be as close to the same as possible
Very nice/relaxed atmosphere and services in a fine dining establishment. Convenient public parking available. Love the BYOB concept. Enjoy a great meal at a local place for an affordable price.
Food was delicious, had the chilean sea bass. Perfect for date night :)
Excellent choices and great service. Great new menu!
The food is consistently good and the service was good but it was very noisy due to a group having a meeting with their clients.
Busy Saturday night. The staff seemed to be all over the place. Two different servers asked if we heard the specials....which we hadn't, but never told us. It's a byob which is wonderful, but we had to pour our own. Starting with bread and olive tapenade and parmigiano cheese was an amazing treat! The octopus appetizer was a bit "off", over cooked octopus with potatoes, tomatoes and kalamata olives (with the pits)...very disappointing. The server did notice we weren't eating it, but nothing was done about it. Our main course, cowboy ribeye and the porterhouse....the seasoning was amazing (spicer than I expected it would be, but delicious) and the steak was cooked perfectly!!!
Overall I would go again and try a few other items. The ambiance was nice and the staff was friendly....just busy.
This is a really good restaurant. We go hear regularly. A place worthy of bringing friends visiting from out of town. Get the branzino! They will serve as a filet. But, keep the bone in. The tuna was great. They have a great bread passing for dessert. The staff is top notch. They are friendly and attentive. Sonny is always on hand to make sure things are great.
Very good seafood. Very good price. Friendly staff.
It was ok.... nothing special. The seating was a little odd. The bench seat was wrong height for the table.
Only one or two other tables were occupied, probably because it was a Thursday night & it was raining. When the appetizers & main courses were presented at the table they were randomly placed in front of the wrong person without the waiter asking who was to get the correct meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal because the food was Excellent.
I hadn’t been to Romola’s in several months - but noticed on line that they had updated their menu - most notably adding steaks. My petite filet was delicious and served as promised, on a 450degree plate. The béarnaise was tasty but not over cooked. The shrimp cocktail was generous with bigger than average shrimps and a nice spicy sauce. If you tried this restaurant before give it another chance.
Great service and amazing food. Will definitely be back! Best chocolate lava cake!!
Outstanding, as usual! Already looking forward to our next visit.
The food is well thought out just the execution lacks a little focus. My spinach was frozen and bland. The chicken cutlet had a flour taste from the breading. The staff is great and the restaurant is very nice inside
We don’t usually go on a Saturday night, and it was too noisy and the service suffered. The food was excellent as usual, but I wouldn’t go again on the weekend.
Great experience, as always. Love this place.
Excellent food, personable staff. Food was terrific.
