Rokerij Ratings and Reviews
I took my significant other and his family to celebrate his birthday and we had a wonderful experience. Our waitress was exceptional and the food was delicious. I gave 4 stars on the food because we did have to send the chicken dish back (it was rubbery and impossible to chew), however, all of the other dishes were done to perfection and our waitress took care of the issue right away. So, I would still highly recommend the restaurant for a great dining experience!
Rokerji (Dutch for Steakhouse) has the largest and best selection of meat and fish dishes we have experienced in a very long time and we eat out several times a week. This time we introduced two couples to Rokerji and 1 is very picky. Each ordered something different and was very pleased with the portion, preparation and taste. The noise level was high. If you want a conversation eat in the Celler where the menu is the same but the space is pub like and quieter. One thing for sure, you will leave full and feeling good.
Rokerij has one of, if not the most, creative menu I've ever seen. This is primarily because there are three different restaurants in the same building, each with its own cuisine, and you can order from any of them from Rokerij. The basement seating is really cool...we loved it. Not a very large place, just cozy and something you wouldn't expect to find in Phoenix. The garlic appetizer is a "must-have" if you have at least 4 people...it's huge, but it's out of this world good. Truly outstanding. And the entrees are really cool -- wish I could have ordered a half dozen different ones. Those of us who had the duck were very happy with our meals; those who ordered the trout were disappointed that it was overdone (three in our group). Service was ridiculously good, too; our waiter had been there since the 70s and was very helpful when it came time to order. Great spot and highly recommended.
Great place to take family and friends that has never had New Mexican still foods..The enchiladas
are out of this world with the Christmas sauce with beans and rice and the Home of the Mexican Green chili potatoes stuffed in a Green Chili pepper is there trademark. Also the the Duck, chicken tostadas and the Carne Adovada a pork dish is right there with the Enchiladas.
The restaurant is as entertaining as the food is good. The decor is over the top, like you walked into an exotic inn somewhere in Asia maybe. The menu is huge and varied. You have to find something you want and the portions are more than generous. Two people could easily share most entrees. Rokerij is one of three names that share one building. Any of the three restaurants work. Same decor. Pretty much same menu
This was my second meal at Rokerij and while it was good, it was not as wonderful as the first one (steak- can't remember which one). They have a nice selection of appetizers and wine for happy hour. I chose the pan-seared salmon with capers app; okay but on the bland side. The stuffed mushroom app was flavorful but a bit undercooked. My SO had the chorizo stuffed pork chop; he noted that the chorizo overpowered the pork, but the sauce was good. The dessert trio of (italian?) cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and creme brulee was okay. The star of that show was the chocolate cake which I would order by itself next time. The ambiance downstairs was super cozy and romantic; our bartender/waiter was great. I will be back to try other food choices but it seems they do meat the best - steak, prime rib, etc.
We love the feel of the Rokerij, but you run a risk going their in the summer. We sat in the basement , and it just does not cool down. 2nd time that's happened for us. We would go back, but this last dining experience was below par. I had the NY Strip, it was overpriced at $45. Should have gone Duck!
Went for a milestone birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. Calamari was fresh. Carne Adovada, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and Pasta Heidi were the highlights of the evening. One dining companion is Gluten Free and one is allergic to tomatoes. Server and kitchen staff were knowledgeable and took extra measures to insure that no cross-contamination occurred. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The Flourless Chocolate Cake and Creme Brûlée wrapped up our evening beautifully.
Great food. Our server, CJ, offered recommendations that were relevant, and turned out to be on point. I am from out of town, and this is my second time here. A definite must for a nice night out in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Both times were for business, but perfectly suitable for date night/ night out/ special occasion
