food mediocre and service poor. I have returned to this restaurant a few times just to make certain I didn't just have one bad experience but, unfortunately, the food is consistently mediocre and the service is consistently slow/poor.
Food was good and service was great. Place got very noisy but we were done by then.
Always excellent. Love to have quick lunches at Rohr’s. Thanks!
The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. They offer some unusual combinations that I haven't tried before. If you're limited on time, let them know and they'll accommodate you.
Great chicken sandwich. There for notre dame game. Busy
So first of all use open table and get reservations if you intend to go on a football weekend. If we didnt have reservations it would have been a disaster. Make sure you're early as parking can be a challenge.
All that said, even with the craziness of the football weekend, the wait staff were unfailing upbeat, the food was great and came quickly -and the prices really made sense - It was a great answer to the question of how we'd get food on campus at Notre Dame.
Rohr's is extremely noisy and crowded whenever there is anything going on on campus, such as the students' (and their parents') recent return. I had reservations for 2 on 8/17 and had to be escorted to Sorin's because it was impossible to have a conversation at Rohr's. Our reservation for 3 on 8/18 was somewhat better because our table was immediately next to the door and against a wall. Service was excellent, so was food. Nice, large portions.
Service is very slow. There does not seem to be consistency in the menu. One day the lobster roll is very good another day it is served on a hotdog bun. The turkey sandwich was on toasted bread and not on a bun as in the past. I will not be returning.
Was perfect place to visit with my grandaughter and roomate wholive on campus.
Service was lousy - it takes forever to get your food.
It was a football weekend and they were understaffed. Food was tasty, but menu was limited.
We arrived on time for an 11:00 a.m. lunch reservation. There was no one in the front area to greet us when we arrived and the the bar waiter shooed us out of the bar area with teenagers very curtly. Just sent us to the dining area where we found ourselves a table. Waitress was friendly but our food took a long time even though we (the four of us in my family) were the only ones in the dining area (a few others were in the bar area). We enjoyed the squash soup and my son had a pizza he liked.
except for the coffee, the food was wonderful. But then I prefer strong coffee,
I had lunch at Rohr's with a co-worker. We were seated in a corner, which was about the only thing that went our way at this meal.
Our server was unfriendly and inattentive. She noticed, but chose to ignore, our decision not to eat an undercooked (bacon) appetizer, which we sent back to the kitchen. I would have given her a pass on this lackluster performance, but the restaurant was mostly empty.
Our food was fine, but not anything special.
I have been to Rohr's many times in the past without this type of poor service. I have no plans to return soon.
4 of us were together for a birthday luncheon. Only 1 of us enjoyed her meal. The other 3 ordered Caesar Salads (2 with chicken and 1 without). To our surprise (and from now on we will read the fine print) the salad was served with 3 anchovies on top of the lettuce. This ruined the taste of the entire salad -- even though we removed the anchovies, the lettuce was infected with the anchovies taste. We all were very disappointed and didn't eat our lunch. Very expensive for walking away hungry. Also, by accident, the server knocked over a glass of ice water on our table. She never apologized for this -- only said something like, "I need to go home." She did clean up the dripping water and had assistance getting the ice off the center of the table. For a meal that was to celebrate a birthday, not only were we surprised by the total cost ($60), we were very disappointed in the food. It'll be a while before heading back for lunch.
Sometimes the service is very slow at lunch. Our server did well. I think the kitchen is slow.
The service is too slow, it is fit for football parties and not for lunches with visiting guests on the campus. The hosts and waiters should come and check whether the customers need any thing else. I prefer Legend over Rohr's.
Your choices above should also include "none of the above" , noise level "too high" or uncomfortable" or "ot likely to reccomend"
We went for lunch. There were 4 of us. The buffet is priced well. The atmosphere is great!
Great little gastro pub on the campus of Notre Dame in the Morris Inn. Free valet with your purchase of food! The menu is short but varied. My favorite is the "buffet" option for weekday lunches. It's not a traditional buffet in that there are many options to pick from, but the food choices are delicious and the price - $10 - is awesome!
My only complaint with my last trip is that our waiter was not particularly sociable. He wasn't particularly rude but he didn't go out of his way to make me feel welcome either.
That said, delicious food can often overcome distant and not very engaging wait staff.
Service was great and loved the buffet
Loved Rohr's! Salad was great. Would have liked rolls with it, and coffee got cold and second cup was never offered (had to ask after I finished first cold cup), but overall was very nice and a great place for a reasonably priced, healthy and delicious lunch with a friend.
The sea food gumbo proved too spicy for me, but the service was great.
Thank you for making our time at Rohr's both yesterday and today a wonderful dining experience. Caleb yesterday was quite knowledgeable about the menu and he enhanced the dining experience with his congeniality. Today's server was equally knowledgeable and congenial. I am sorry I did not get her name. Great service, good menu choices, reasonable prices and great deserts.
The food was delicious! There was a pleasant variety of choices...sandwiches, salads, appetizers, entrees! Drink and food portions were generous! Really enjoyed the handmade burgers!!! Even our son, a student, agreed one could get a good meal for a reasonable price! Would have liked to try the weekday lunch specials but we were there over the weekend!!
The food is what it says it is; basic, good, and minimal frills. A bit on the pricey side but overall a good find.
This is a new restaurant in the Morris Inn on Notre Dame's campus. The food is actually very, very good (yummy sweet potato chips), great salmon and brussel sprouts. The bar looks impressive with a great selection of beers on tap. That said, the service is SLOW. I have been here twice now, and each time probably waited close to 1/2 hour for food (with relatively straightforward orders). Moreover, there were just a few parties in the restaurant at the time.
Diet Coke had no carbonation; burger dry and overcooked; bun was burnt. The wait staff offered to take order back to the kitchen, but by then, it was too late. Prices were too high considering the quality of the food.
Rohr's is a very good restaurant, food was excellent, as the service was also.
I ordered the corned beef sandwich, and chose cole slaw as my side. The slaw was a bowl of raw cabbage with barely any dressing. The sandwich was ok, not great. My friends both had the shrimp salad and said it was good.
Made a reservation for a Sunday noon. Arrived on time and no one knew they even took reservations. Told us to seat ourselves. Couldn't find special football weekend menus so 3 of us shared one. One waitress took our order and then another came to our table to take our order. Seemed half put-together and not extremely welcoming. The thing that saved the day was that the food was very good (2 burgers and a club sandwich + fritter appetizers). Might consider coming back when things have matured.
We booked on open table for a Friday evening before the Oklahoma game. When we arrived we were informed that game weekends are open seating and they did not have a table reserved. Despite this, the manager and the hostess made efforts to find us a table within 15 min and brought us a round of drinks on the house while we waited. Extremely accommodating! The food was delicious too!
Made a reservation on Open Table - but when we arrived, it seems the place was so crowded and under-staffed, that reservations really didn't matter - so we waited and within a few minutes got seated. The "special" football weekend menu of course had limited choices and high prices. We try to eat vegetarian but there were so few choices, it was nearly impossible. Ordered a chef salad and it was seriously 2 bites of salad (for about $8). We did order the buffalo chicken "wings" - they were chicken nuggets with buffalo sauce served with 2 sticks of sad old celery. Taste was terrible - but again, we try not to eat meat anyways. Won't be back on a football weekend.
When we got to the entrance we said we had a reservation and the girl said they do not take reservations, I explained I went on line, made a reservation and had a confirmation number, she said she will have to take this up with her boss because that they NEVER take a reservation.
I think you need to figure out if you do or don't, lucky for us it was a slow night and we did have a confirmation number of a reservation.
Food was great, thanks to the Executive Chief Ross Olling for a great dining experience.
I went to lunch at Rohr's with a colleague and we could not hear each other very well. We were shouting at each other across our table. The tables on either side of us were very close by and one of them had a loud talker, but overall the noise in the room was distracting. The food was very good; had a great turkey burger. Our service was very slow. The table next to us which was seated after us received their food faster. Overall I was expecting a better experience.
Rebecca was our waitress...my 3rd time dining here and she was GREAT! (other 2 experiences were not)
Still took an overly long amount of time to get food (we asked her to bring the bill and to go containers when she brought the food, which she did). So no time to eat lunch (we were on a lunch hour, explained that when we sat down and she tried her best) and had to take it to go.
I understand that one kitchen is "feeding" 3 restaurant areas -- so may need to limit the number/type of menu items at Rohr's to ensure quicker service.
If all your staff become like Rebecca, then there's one problem out of the way. (She greeted us immediately, took drink orders, checked back religiously) and tried to make things right throughout the experience.
We understand the restaurant is new and getting into the "groove" of things, but this is the 2nd occasion where I have had issues while dinning her. Service is very poor and very slow. One would think on a football weekend or a Friday night you would have more wait staff on hand than less. Took forever to get our food, and over 20 minutes just to place drink order for water and tea.
More importantly, when we made our reservation we inquired if we could use a FOAPAL to pay and were told yes. We left the information with the reservationist. Waitress had no idea what we were talking about and took another 15 minutes trying to figure out if she could use the FOAPAL or not. She said yes eventually, and took it. Never did get a receipt.
I was told when I called to confirm my reservation that they do not take reservations. I told them I had an email with a confirmation stating that I had a reservation and was told that was not possible. As of today the button to make a reservation is still on their website.
When we arrived there was only valet parking and we were told by the valet person that is because they hope to be a 4 diamond hotel.
Then we went inside to be seated to find out that despite what was on their website that the restricted menus ended at 2pm on football Sundays that was not the case either.
Seems like they need some help with the online component of their business
It took 4 hours to get 2 appetizers 2 sandwiches and a burger
Had to send back a drink. Had to ask for our drinks several times. Server
I had a reservation, knowing that it was a the first home football game, for a reason. A new establishment in a multi-million dollar renovation of the Morris Inn should have at least had a hostess at the hostess stand. No. Instead, I walked in before my 3 pm reservation to what more closely resembled the Cantina from "Star Wars." There were all of two people working beyond Murf - the legendary bartender from Leahy's, who deserves quite better than the beyond understaffed support he was given. When I approached the only server I could reach (the other was on the other side of the place), she advised me that I needed to speak to someone else. Instead, I left, allowing another Jedi to take on the wretched hive of scum and villany inside.
Rohr's definitely has some challenges they need to work out before I can recommend. Service is fair at best....have eaten there twice and both times was disappointed. First time, seated right away but took 20 minutes before server came by...even after alerting the hostess twice! 2nd time, hostess didn't show up for her shift (lunch!) and server had no idea how to work the reservation software..."Just take a menu and find a seat." IF they know you are on your lunch hour, perhaps your service will get you in and out in an hour....but you have to remind them! It's not rocket science so I hope they get this worked out.
